The second is that the whistleblower's lawyer has sent Trump a cease and desist, stating "I am writing to respectfully request that you counsel your client on the legal and ethical peril in which he is placing himself should anyone be physically harmed as a result of his, or his surrogates."
Almost like he understood the aid was dependent on saying it. If only there was some sort of term for that relationship between two actions, where one is exchanged for the other. Maybe something Latin?

I have zero expectations that our literally criminal President will comply.
I think Trump has some dirt on Lindsey Graham and that is a big (but not the only) reason that Graham is doing what he is doing. If I wanted to placate Trump I would go on TV as much as possible and attack the things Trump perceives as a threat and do so in ways that most appeal to Trump.
This is a theory but I don't think I need tinfoil. I'm confident enough that Saran wrap will do.
Lindsey Graham’s picture is the illustration in the dictionary for “political winds”. He was against Trump when he thought he needed to be to win the presidential nomination and now he’s full sycophant to keep his standing a senator from South Carolina.
Everytime Graham comments on the impeachment I really want the reporter to respond "Where did you get that information? The transcripts you didn't read?"

I don't really see a reason to give Lindsey Graham the benefit of the doubt anymore.
Oh yea of course. Lindsey is your bog standard cowardly, opportunistic, regressive, bottom feeding Republican. But he has publicly criticized Trump before. I think he was testing the waters then, acting on lizard brain instincts. What he's doing now says to me he is afraid of something and I don't mean simply losing his Senate seat.

If he was being blackmailed, he'd never criticize Trump at all and he does.
I think he just thinks that if he flatters Trump enough, Trump will forget the things that Lindsey Graham said before the election and do whatever he says. He's wrong. Trump is a snake.

The blackmail material is that the base still supports trump nad trump lashes out like a spoiled brat at anyone or anything that isn't actively felaciating him and Lindsey graham is more scared of being accused of disloyalty to trump then he is of the consequences of trump getting away with this shit.

Graham shouldn’t be allowed in front of a camera without someone criticizing him to his face about how transparently partisan he’s been about this entire process.
Am I the only one really confused and certain that they misspoke/meant to say "Trump wants nothing MORE than Zelensky to" etc etc
You probably are.
"Nothing more than" indicates that a request is minor and/or the suggestion is that the absolute minimum be done to meet the request. E.G. "I want nothing more than a minute of your time"
"Nothing less than" is a demand and indicates that that the request should be carried out and then some. E.G. "I want nothing less than your complete cooperation".
But those are the exact OPPOSITE of their literal meanings I HATE ENGLISH!
And yea, Graham shouldn't even be listened to anymore. It's completely obvious who he is, where his loyalties lie, how little shame he has in contorting and spinning abject reality to try and come up with something remotely salvageable etc

Are there hearings today or is that next week? Do we have a schedule somewhere?
Oh no. A democratic staffer emailed Yovanavich shortly after the whistleblower story broke and Yovanavich emailed back with a polite, non committal hand off. Clearly proof of a conspiracy!
I'll note this is a story from the National Review based on emails leaked to Tucker Carlson, but I think it's worthwhile to see how the right wing punditry is on the defense.

Nah, it's that he wants stuff from Trump.
Graham shit on Trump when he thought he would lose because that's what he really thinks. Like most older establishment conservatives, they think Trump is a fucking moron and a dangerously unstable toddler.
Once it became obvious Trump was the future of the party, he switched tunes because he wants to stay in power.
While Trump has been in office, he's been sucking up to him constantly because Graham's personal thing is foreign policy and so he spends all his energy buttering Trump up to try and influence him towards the type of foreign policy Graham wants.
This morning, *1 minute* before his scheduled deposition was to start, Mulvaney’s outside counsel told the House committees he'd been directed by the WH not to comply with their subpoena & that it had asserted “absolute immunity" per an official working on the impeachment inquiry
I feel like we need a "that's not how any of this works" for everything the White House does with this. At this point, just play his press conference where he admitted to the crimes and says they do it all the time and just deal with it.

Presumably this update will let us know that Trumps perfect phone call happened in Alabama.

I honestly think that they are just a bunch of stupid assholes. All of them. Lindsey is one of the biggest assholes, but that's it. I have trouble even believing that Russia has anything on Trump himself - his behavior is just the latest in a lifetime of garbage behavior, but now he has the maximum power he's ever had. We try to rationalize it because, in a way, it's easier to assume any American, much less the American president, could be this much of a goober WITHOUT someone pulling their strings in some conspiratorial fashion, but I'm pretty sure these people are just fucking terrible to their cores, always have been, and always will be.

They already released a first “perfect” transcript, I wonder what would be different about this one, and why would anyone believe it’s contents when, I assume, Trump releases something that will try and make him look good?
Release the records from the Too Secret computer or nothing.

I'm quietly hoping the "second" transcript is the actual transcript, and that everyone on Trump's team is too ignorant to realize how damaging it is.

This new “transcript” is going to be an utter fabrication isn’t it? Fully doctored and full of lies, I can’t imagine what else they’d try at this point, though that may admittedly be because I don’t have the proper level of stupid to possess their type of imagination.

Stringer Bell is rolling in his grave right now
First is that Schiff has subpoenaed acting White House chief of staff Mulvaney for Friday morning.
The second is that the whistleblower's lawyer has sent Trump a cease and desist, stating "I am writing to respectfully request that you counsel your client on the legal and ethical peril in which he is placing himself should anyone be physically harmed as a result of his, or his surrogates."
Should be an interesting Friday.

Public hearings are next week with 2.
Today there is scheduled a private deposition with Mulvaney that we all know won't happen.

You can always seem committee hearings online. They have to be posted by law for the public to see if it isn't closed doors.
