River's speech in Husbands is great. She kind of fell out of love with the Doctor.
Hard disagree. She did no such thing. She loved him just as much as she used to. She had just gone a LONG time since she'd seen him and was telling herself that the Doctor was impossible to love, or to return love. At the end of that very speech, "Hello Sweetie" all of that was gone in an instant and it was River and the Doctor once again.

T'was a fine episode, but geez did they ever dumb River's IQ down a shade or two to keep that whole bit going.

In her defence, Eleven was supposed to be the last Doctor! Far as she knows, Twelve can't exist. She's got that list of his faces, Capaldi ain't on it and there's no room for him to exist.

Since they had a year, there should be some polish.
I suspect they were working on other projects in the extra time rather than extra polish for Doctor Who.
