playing Tekken for the first time in like a year and a half and boy they added a lot, huh
was that basic combo thing always there? I tried it for a while and thought to myself "okay I'm not crazy these characters are supposed to have actual jabs right" and only found them once I turned that off
They added 'combo assist' and easy special moves for casuals awhile back, you're not crazy.

Haven't seen Falke yet but Ed looks ridiculous, Chun is better. A lot of characters got better. They did some mild nerfs on the consensus top tiers, but all of those characters have really nice VS2 now also, so maybe its a wash
seems like the whole cast stayed even or got better. i can't think of anyone who is like "oh yeah that character is deleted".
The hardest hit was probably Akuma but they gave him a nice VS2 also, he'll probably survive
How about Juri Han? I haven't been following SFV since shortly after it came out, but I seem to recall that she was considered a lost cause for a while.

She was average in s4. Mild improvement s5.
Her vs2 is possibly a mixup tool.
I don't personally think she can overcome her low damage and somehow go up a letter grade

She is not a bad character though
Awesome, she was my favorite new character from SFIV, and her new biker outfit and black/white power effects are rad.

jwong seemed to be positive about falke on twitter for what its worth
i am watching some falke VODs and uhh wow, she's really good
last night I did Chun and Ryu. Both very nice. I have no idea what the hell Chun-li's v-skills are for. It seems like the most situational shit ever.
Ryu VT1 st.HP xx fireball pressure is SOOOO SATISFYING now that it doesn't cost v-gauge. So many walk-up crush counters obtained last night. if i thought it were possible to do confirms against mexico consistently, I'd probably play him
doing Falke and Honda tonight, I have a feeling one of these two characters will be the main....
and by god.. for 5 minutes yesterday, I considered abigail because the tire is apparently from another dimension of reality and goes through everything. alright capcom, give me a donkey kong skin. DO IT
They added a Volume 5 for Demonstrations that show off all the new VSkills. Also nab you an easy 1,000XP for every character if you need a little extra Fight Money for...Fighting Chance I guess?

HDR is what made me go to my first local tournament, so I'll always appreciate it for that
Then I started playing ST and was like "huh, this version is a lot more fun"

hdr is one of the ugliest games I've seen released by a major company
like it takes the worst aspects of SF2's character design and animation and then magnifies them 100x

Yeah now that you can throw more than two you really appreciate how good his V-Trigger fb is.
Like that is probably Ryu's biggest buff, he has a V-Trigger finally.

I'm pretty sure tire is ass, it has like a year long startup
The real good new abigail shit are the cr.mk ex punches confirms with the new launch height on that

what is it? is it a new juggle or just that it connects better now?
Ex punches sends them much higher in the air allowing you to get all the hits on a charged vt2, or you can do stuff like cr.mk, ex punch, vtc, dash up f.hp, vt2
So yeah higher launch height allowing new juggles . They wanted to incentivise abigail to spend some meter
good news everyone, despite not really digging cody when he came out when he was my most anticipated character, my blank slate re: sfv muscle memory has allowed me to pick up and enjoy my favorite dude
not sure what my issue was before, but I think I have achieved my final form
I haven't delved hard into the SF5 update yet but I wasn't overly impressed with the changes for Juri. Her new Vskill is probably better than her first, given how niche the original was anyway, but she was the absolute last character who wanted another move she has to stock to use first. The range on it is awful and it knocks down on hit so I'm a bit confused as to how much she can really do with this, frankly.
Chun seems a lot more playable now, though. Particularly at lower levels given that her FK legs finally knocks down, giving her a much simpler confirm off of crouch MK. Her new Vskill is shockingly terrible though, and I'm really not at all sure what they were going for with it. You know it's bad when it still makes her incredibly limited Vskill 1 look better.
Sakura is supposedly a lot better from what I hear. Her Vskill 2 looked really boring (and how many ways does one character need to beat projectiles anyway?), but again, she was another character who had a Vskill 1 so subpar that almost anything else would be an improvement honestly.

It doesn't just roll under fireballs, it has an attack part too and is a big time combo extender.

Akira is a main character in the manga.
He's a macguffin in the movie.

i dont have enough mindspace to fuck with Falke's VS2, it is extremely cool though. she will be a solid character. when i messed with her in Season 3 I thought that there was a big fun-factor problem with her offense, where it was functional but also 1-dimensional. VT2 and/or VS2 directly address it in a huge way. She is now a much more balanced character to go with some prodigious zoning normals. i dare say a total package
Honda much better character for me. Simpler gameplan. also it seems nobody online knows what to do against him so that's always nice. the new character advantage

RIP Huge Quest
If I pick up gigas in tekken does huge quest live on
I saw it compared to Rashid's roll so often I had assumed it did, tbh. If it doesn't then it's kind of a big question mark as to how they are coming up with some of these, and for what intended purpose. Sakura already had a niche VS1 that was largely limited to being a combo extender, so if that's also true for her VS2 then that's going to be disappointing to hear. At least she got some other good quality of life buffs, though.

i don't play sakura so i was taking your word for it, but it's similar in some ways to Ken's run, it's meant as a gap closer and something that can be used in combos
it's a meaningful addition as her VS1 was in fact quite poor and I have only ever seen it used in VT1 setups... I think this one has practical uses outside of VT, I think I read that she has a st.HP combo involving it or something
Sakura, like Juri, is criminally underrated, because people only seem to look at Top 8's to decide if a character is good or not. Both of these characters have monstrous representation online, including some grand master+ people.
learning honda set play is EXTREMELY interesting... this guy has quite a bit of cool shit to do against the opponent on wakeup to keep things fresh
I'll give a shiny penny to anyone who can explain why I am getting +3ob w/ st.HK against a crouching opponent when I dash forward meaty after hitting with VT1... according to Capcom's frame data I shouldn't be +... but I guess the move has some special properties??
i like that his target combos are actually really good and not just token inputs to get to v-trigger activation like so many other characters
I think this one has practical uses outside of VT, I think I read that she has a st.HP combo involving it or something
It only naturally combos off of S.HP and DF.HK, and combos off of counterhit C.HP or S.HK CC.
One thing I found with it that may be useful is that off of her Jab-Jab-EX Tatsu combo (which she just gained in the patch), when it kicks them into midscreen, you can do the roll without the attack and you're right on top of them at +2 if they do quick recovery without a back recovery. Her regular dash doesn't go nearly as far.
Saying a move is so overpowered it's like the character was reincarnated into an isekai is probably the most damning condemnation I've ever heard in fighting games.

"That Time I Got Reincarnated And Could Shoot Sonic Boom" is a good-ass joke.
I don't know if I've ever been quite as disappointed in a patch as I have this latest SF5 sendoff. Seeing the high end of what some characters got really makes it feel like the ones I cared about got coal for Christmas.

Hey guys
Remember HDR?
Hell of thing, that was.

E: the new sprites were nice, and playing classic mode instead of remix over XBL was fun times

Dai Shi, the villain from Power Rangers: Jungle Fury. He seems to take some cues from Akuma.
Apparently he's already out for the Switch version.
won back all the points i hemorrhaged reacquainting myself with the game. its too bad my closest local for anything but smash is 1.5-2hrs drive
