The balance between pick up and play and Mechwarrior style sim-y mechanics is a choice. If there's any obvious thing to take from Interstate 76 it's the story. I think Mortal Kombat's proved that just having disconnected fights and then a wall of text isn't going to cut it in 2020. Like if they do re-boot Twisted Metal it should probably switch between different perspectives throughout the narrative.

Trees in the past also had colorful leaves in the fall. We know this because when rocks are split open to reveal compressed leaf fossils inside, the fossils very briefly show their original colors before they oxidize to black.
