Watch Uppity on Netflix. It's the story of the greatest American racecar driver you may have not ever heard of, Willy T Ribbs. It will piss you off, but it's worth watching.
Be warned, there is some footage of crashes that the driver very obviously died, but it is done respectfully and as tasteful as you can be with footage like that.
Getting close to testing, so plenty of announcements coming up in the near future.
Merc were regrettably showing off their new livery - with Ineos sponsorship (or 'partnership' or whatever you want to call it so that it sounds like their contribution is something other than fat sacks of cash). While it's far from the worst sponsorship on the grid (here's to you not-tobacco advertising!), I still can't help but view it negatively given the owner is an outspoken brexiteer.

And who moved to Monaco to avoid £4billion in tax, and campaigned to weaken green taxes and reduce restrictions on fracking.
The Ferrari car launch sure is something. What that something is I have no idea. There's been a chorus, ballet dancing to techno music, what I'm going to assume is a mix of self congratulation and flagellation in Italian, but half an hour in no F1 car yet. It's as if they hired the same people who do Ubisoft's E3 shows to do a F1 car launch.
Oh, finally the car. Looks almost the same as last years car. Same matte red paint and overall livery. Can't say I'm surprised.
Put the 2020 Ferrari / Red Bull next to the 2019 version and I wouldn't be able to find the differences with a magnifying glass.
Then again, nobody really expected significant changes. 2021 are the big changes.
Livery tweaks wouldn't go amiss. Ferrari in particular did some nice experiments with retro inspired liveries a few years back. Turns out you can do more than just cover the whole thing in red! Who knew!
As far as the cars themselves go, the only really notable visual change for 2020 is the simplified front wings. But yeah, next year is when the fun really starts.
While change can be good, that doesnt mean change needs to happen. I think a Ferrari should be red 9(or yellow, and sometimes white is acceptable, but that is definitely not happening in F1), and I really like the red bull livery as is.
I'd like them to revisit a mid-'90s type livery on the Ferrari. At a basic level I'm thinking red (obviously) with black wings with yellow accents on them.
The 2017 one was probably the nicest one they've done recently, a bit of a '70s throwback. I liked it.
I've really liked the trick Renault pulled the last few years where it's yellow from the front and black from the sides. Looks like it's boring old blacks time to shine. Well, not shine exactly

Yeah, that was a clever paint job, I liked that too.
To me, it was inexplicable that I couldn’t even cast the feed from my phone to my tv. Now at least there is an option. Not sure if I’ll spring for a Roku and also the F1 subscription this year though. It would be nice if it was available across platforms instead. I’m guessing they just have like one intern working on this stuff which explains the slow progress and limited updates.

I just used the browser on my FireTV. Not elegant, but works.

The Merc W11 is an obscene car. This is actually F1 porn.
Look at these sidepods. Did they vacuum wrap this car, in lieu of actual bodywork? It looks like it!

LOL I love these car launch events on YouTube. The Alpha Tauri one is happening (with fashion show!) and the comments are all just variations on "WHERE IS THE CAR>!>!?!:!?!?!?!?!!"

Must admit that after all that fashion runway and flag-waving, the final liveries looked nice.

That Mercedes design looks like non slip steel flooring.

Yes, it looks hot. Echoes of:
But hoooo boy that race suit is not flattering on Kvyat. Works if you're rail thin like Gasly though. EDIT: Not as bad as the McLaren suits though.
NASCAR season starts this weekend with their "Superbowl" at Daytona. The junior series has their 300 mile (120 laps) race today starting in about 45 minutes, and the big 500 mile (200 laps) race starting around 1:30.

FYI, Daytona was rained out due to it being Florida in February. They're trying again today around 1pm eastern.
Also, Formula E has been absolutely incredible this yeatlr. The fenders on the cars mean a lot more bumping and pushing so it has ended up looking like a mix of Formula 1 and NASCAR racing.
Check it out if you haven't yet.
I'm so looking forwards to this! The 2018 season seemed relatively mundane to me but the DtS series was *amazing*. Last year I felt there was all sorts of hi jinks, so I'm expecting DtS to blow my mind
After watching qualifying, I decided to go ahead and watch the first Grand Prix of Marbula 1. It was tense, exciting and featured way more passing than Formula One. It did ignore the midfield just like Formula One, though.

Not the best look, Mercedes.

And they have “postponed” China GP. So, hopeful to add it back on in an off week or something I guess.
