There was a a couple of lines in today's Flophouse where, if I had not been close to my destination, I would have had to have pulled over lest I become a hazard to those around me
It was Dan protesting that he doesn't need videos of wives washing butts and the other two saying need is a strong word and referencing the hierarchy of need
So a hundred-odd old MBMBAMs marked themselves as unread on my podcast app and as I played what I thought was the most recent one I thought huh that's weird, they must've had an old live show in the attic they put on
huh that's weird they're advertising new live shows now
this fall? What the fuck brothers how fucking dare and then I checked the posting date.
Replaces main character with a mustachioed middle aged white guy in woodland cammo Ninja gi. Intercuts half the game play with dubbed sections from an unrelated cheaper game they could get the rights to. Replaces all music with chunky 80s synth bass.
George Lucas mode: first play through is completely revelatory albeit lofi, all subsequent playthroughs have substantially more graphics but everything else suffers exponentially or gets better depending on who you ask, and everyone who ever plays the game is furious all the time

but the weirdest part is I don't know why I didn't expect Kevin Smith to have a full wall of funko pops
update: I am starting to become certain the wall of Funko Pops is actually a wall of Funko Pop
I am pretty sure they are all the Kevin Smith Funko Pop

Aside from just making a lot of bad movies, I don't think I've ever forgiven Smith for being a famous comic nerd and then, in an issue of Wizard magazine, saying something like "I think Jack Kirby is overrated, I don't get the hype"

It's so weird that he was completely sober for most of his career. It's like cannabis was standing at the parapet of a high tower, staring out to sea waiting for decades for its true prince to come and sweep it away on a magical journey.
I am still rather fond of most earlyish Kevin Smith and even Clerks 2
It's more "Kevin Smith as contemporary persona" that I'm dunking on there eh
a looooooot of Gen X creatives have just not been aging the best for me lately, which is a trend I started noticing a few years ago with Joss Whedon's fall from nerd culture grace around the same time Smith and also Mike Judge started going a little too stale. JK Rowling has only turbocharged this hypothesis
There are still a few genuinely wholesome, fresh Gen X creatives, mind you (Keanu Reeves immediately comes to mind) but, it does feel like a lot of people I used to look up to are being outgrown by my own generation
I listened to Fatman on Batman for a while back in the '10s, it had some interesting interviews with Arlene Sorkin and Kevin Conroy but I lost interest when he started doing stuff with his friends

Mallrats is the only Kevin Smith movie I'll willingly rewatch at this point

Clerks, Clerks The Animated Series, Clerks 2, Dogma and Zack And Miri Make A Porno probably hold up the best. I've only seen like half of Mallrats but that's a pretty good unintentional period piece.

I haven't seen it in long time but I remember liking Dogma
The other thing about PC's is that they aren't the best as a device you hook up to your tv, unless you want to invest in a decent couch mouse solution.
There's a few options for gaming on the couch. Before I invested in a Roccat Sova which is nice as hell I had my keyboard on an Ikea laptop cushion thing and then used a textbook balanced on a cushion for the mouse
I've seen people use a length of plywood propped up with cushions to make a desk across their laps
It's nice to not be sat upright at a desk like I am for 8 hours a day working. Most games I play with a wireless xbox controller anyway so the mouse / keyboard is just to log in and open up Steam
The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin

They're taking a break for a few weeks to recover, and they earned that.
And holy shit

Verhoeven mode: Removes all subtle hints and replaced them with a mallet because subtext is for cowards and you need learn society is going to shit.
Michael Bay Mode: They were right about the explosions, but they forgot to add maximal camera spinning. 1080 spins on every cool move.
George Miller mode: 50% of characters are now talking animals the other half wear leather while driving cars.
Tim Burton mode: Gothic claymation ft. the directors wife.
Peter Jackson mode: Twice as long as the original yet missing fan favorite parts, also has 7 endings in a row.

It's been a very long time since I've seen Clerks, but I'm guessing it doesn't hold up.

The manuals on these things fucking suck and it's real annoying to get surprised by what cables you need to plug your monitors in
It's probably on me for not researching enough but dang
Why did they get rid of the dvi ports
What the fuck is a displayport cable
