I considered for a moment buying some Deathmarks but being heavy 1 with 1 damage weapons kinds of breaks their usefulness for me. I do really like the model itself though, just can't imagine using them over some of the other options Necrons have.
They're buffing their BS, though. They're 2+ BS with 36 inch range with sniper rules that are strength 5 weapons with -2 AP. They also get the Immortals toughness buff, so they're T5.

I'm not saying they're an amazing unit, but they're definitely a good niche unit that could get work done while sitting on an objective.

They’re very efficient snipers now, they average 4 wounds on a space marine character in a single round of shooting. They’ll kill anything squishier than that like a company commander or an ethereal.

Yea, those are definitely good points for them. I guess the 1 damage just kind of makes me not interested though after these posts I do kind of want to get some since I like their models and they could end up being more useful.

I'm just so used to my las fusil eliminators for my Space Wolves which actually feel like they are sniper units compared to deathmarks.

I've also started considering getting some ghost arks and try out warriors.

I also think deathmarks aren't that interesting to me because I tend to only play within my play group and one person has Custodes and Space Marines, another has Blood Angels, and another has Death Guard and Tyranids so a majority of what I'm facing is either toughness 5+ or multi wound.

    So I know weeks ago the talk about a Dakkafex made me think about making one of the carnifex into one [I have 4 one built as a screamer}
I dug in the box of bits and other things looking for a carnifex/hive tyrant sized devourers and finding nothing?
I looked around on ebay and in images getting more confused until I found this

Fleshborer hives, a Carnifex with two fleshborer hives looks badass as a Dakkafex.
Trick is to place them as the middle set of arms and then use mawloc scything talons for the front limbs - if you put them on the front limbs it's far too front heavy.
I think the other thing is to pose them like these are really heavy biomorphs, and pose them accordingly rather than just a variant scything talon.

Here's a terrible pic of mine
    ld5a86iqarix.png

I love the idea of them just slamming those huge claws into the ground and then lowering their heads so that back plate/spine banks are pointing forwards, unleashing everything like some kind of biological claymore or monster shotgun. Kind of thing that'd give a player in a computer game a clue that they need to dive for cover.

I built fleshborer hive but I ended up turning the kit into the tervigon. I would have to try it out and see since all I set of the carnifex was the body and legs nothing else
I would have to see about the mawloc sized scything talons as I built the mawloc an age ago and have another kit I never built [ Athe tyranid army I won and the instant swarm from a age ago I have been building and painting since last summer in bits n fits just I keep running into storage issues since the 10G bag the termagants lived in as a sprues and then as minis doesn't work out when they are painted
I have been storing the larger things in the old box I won The Tyranid assault brood

Played a 1k game, Genestealers against my friends Drukhari.

Not going to go over the game, but some highlights were a summoned Purestrain unit enveloping his Wych lord in a Venom against the table edge, killing the Venom, leaving the Lord with nowehre to deploy before the Venom died, giving me a turn 2 Warlord kill, then proceeding to chase down his Raiders and destroy them one by one with an overwhelming amount of Rending attacks. Purestrains are so good at hunting light armour. I was really disappointed with my Acolytes with Rock Saws, though I think it was mainly caused by my friend managing to roll every bloody Dodge and FNP roll. My 10 model, 4 Rock Saw, Icon equipped Acolyte squad killed nothing on the charge. Though I'm obviously basing this impression on an absolute worst case scenario.

About Aberrants. I'm... not sure? They dish out a ton of high damage attacks. When they hit his 2 remaining Wych squads with my Patriarch, the Patriarch might as well have not been there. The 5 Aberrants with Power Picks and Hypermorph with Heavy Improvosed Weapon just dished out so many wounds. I don't think there was a turn where the squad put less than 10 wounds on one of the Wych squads, and each time completely overwhelmed his ability to roll Dodge and FNP. When when they finished up those combats, his Scourges wiped them off the table in one volley.

But, with their Rockgrinder transport, they were 31% of my army. I'd expect that many points to do a whole lot more than they did. I don't think they will be a regular part of my list, because they're fragile despite their 2 wounds, T5 and effectively having FNP. 5+ save just isn't good enough at that points cost. If they dropped them down to their old 16 points, or even 19 points per model, I could see them having a place. Right now, they're just way too expensive. For the cost of just the Aberrants I could have brought another Acolyte squad and Neophyte squad, which leaves me wondering just why Aberrants cost so much.

It was a brutally fun game though. By the end, I had a Patriarch on 1 wound and Purestrain squad, and he had a Scourge squad. We killed the absolute shit out of each other.

Knocked out the next round of the Crusade my buddy and I are playing. Space wolves vs Necrons

Me: Indomitus Cap, 3x Aggressors, 3x blade guard, Skaldheim the breaker! (gatling redemptor)
Him: Destroyer lord, 3x destroyers, 10x warriors, Plasmancer, x2 garbage bots
    Mission: Assassination (25pl)

He rolled to be the attacker and took turn one. Basically just movement. My turn one my aggressors and redemptor shot though cover to kill his warriors and chipped a wound from the destroyers... that's about it.

Turn two his destroyers were stuck right in with my aggressors, space wolf strats meant I was able to intervene my bladeguard from behing a wall into the same combat. The destroyers MURDERED the aggressors, even with him wiffing more than 2/3rds of his attacks due to crap rolls. The bladeguard responded killing two of three destroyers. The next turn had my redemptor and captain piling into combat with his destroyer lord holding back due to Armor of Russ making a charge into combat a poor proposition.

After his destroyers going down and the plasmancer/DL killing two of the blade guard I lone wolfed the last and he got stuck right in. Skaldheim died at the top of turn three as well, getting MASHED by the Lord who opted to safely chip away at my army rather than getting swamped.

The bladeguard lone wolf managed to kill the lord, who resurrected and wasn't able to respond in kind due to some extremely lucky 4++ saves. Turn four had my captain absolutely dumpster the garbage bots. Space wolves exploding on 6's plus the exploding on 4's strat was complete overkill but ensure the job was done.

By turn five the plasmancer polished off the bladeguard lone wolf and then got pasted by my captain, leaving him the only man left standing on the field and getting me the win.

Fun game and a lot of mutually assured destruction. His units being limited in the strats he could use was interesting. I think with full strat support he'd have tabled me by end of 3, top of 4 maybe.

So I just checked out that Stratagem and yeah, it would have saved his Wych lord. For one turn. Then it would have been in combat with 11 Purestrains - the lord was on one side of the board, the rest of his army was on the other, he'd completely isolated his own lord. Even if the lord tried to run, Purestrains have an 8" move and can charge after advancing, so there's no way it was getting away from the Purestrains.

I did some rejigging of my Genestealer Cult 1000pt list for the next game I have with my friend. Dropped the Rockgrinder and Aberrants, and instead put in a squad of Purestrains, a Nexos and a Ridgerunner.

The Ridgerunner was based on the fact that the only really effective part of the Rockgrinder was the Heavy Mining Laser. While it's hilarious to ram a Rockgrinder into a squad, the actual resulting damage output isn't great. Maybe if it's paired with a Clearance Incinerator, but I'll experiment with that at higher points. The transport capacity goes well with the Incinerator too - it'll be a whole package that wants to get close.

After the performance Purestrains put in last game, they deserve a fair shake rather than trying to maybe bring them in as a Summon. Also I'm painting the unit already.

Also a Nexos. Since I have a Primus, it lets me potentially get CP's back on a 5+ that I spend, and 6+ that the opponent spends. CP's are life for Cults.

Also swapped the Stubbers in the Neophyte squad for Seismic Cannons since I had the points. Shorter range, but more shots, and higher strength shots at close range. I really just want to try these.

And some leaks for the Necrons, too.

Doomscythe Destructors get 10 instead of 8 shots, deathray now heavy 3, strength 12, d3+3
Arks now get a 3+ save, no change to guns.

Honestly, the new destroyers are straight murder machines. They’re actually kind of bonkers strong for their points cost. They have the standard melee problem of needing to cross the board but holy shit they will kill anything.

The lord as well. Four thunder hammer attacks feels kind of low for a melee beatstick but having natural reroll 1’s on both hit and wound make him actually great at killing other characters. There’s actually an argument to be made for a different Warlord trait aside from the deny one. Give him the +d3 attacks against characters and the sempaturnal weave for get yourself a T7 hero killing monster

I've used them both in a few games recently. The Skorpekh Lord, escorted by Lychguard, with the Weave has been an MVP in all the games. The Lychguard acting as bodyguards even allowed him to run in front to get ever closer. 1000 point games, admittedly, but he ravaged.

He actually did have to fight a Smash Captain recently. Smash Captain killed him, but the resurrection strat allowed him to stand back up and then charge when it was my turn.

The normal Destroyers didn't even need to stick with him. I shoved them in a Night Scythe and took 'em up field. They popped out and eviscerated.

    Really fun new units.

I had been running him with the Warlord trait to "You can re-roll failed charge rolls for friendly <DYNASTY> units whilst they are within 6" of your Warlord." Munch munch munch,

What's caught me a couple of times now is forgetting they have an 8" move. They're super fast for such a stabby unit. They're also dangerous enough that I tend to overcommit resources to make sure they're dead.

My buddy has driven them in asap every game we've played and they've nuked a unit prior to dying. High ap high damage attacks makes them really good vs primaris.

Did they ever change the old wording on disembarking? If your opponent had your vehicle surrounded by their models on 25mm bases in a single rank than RAW you would have enough room to disembark and place your models on the opposite side of your opponent's models (essentially "jumping over" them) since it was within 3" of the vehicle but still over 1" from enemy models.

In this instance I think your opponent's warlord could have hopped over the purestrains (assuming it wasn't a large group) and lived for another turn without spending a command point.

You have to disembark wholly within 3" now, so it's pretty much impossible to "hop" over surrounding enemies.

That makes sense. The old way did lead to some amusing situations, though - Having a badly wounded Rhino get surrounded by cultists who proceed to beat it to death, and then after it explodes finding themselves then surrounded by a bunch of unhappy Assault Marines with chainswords was fun.

So Legends marine models got the last big set of updates when Shock Assault and Bolter Discipline came out, I am assuming that means they'll get an update for the new 2 wounds and weapon changes.

I'm currently packing up models to move, and I got to my Legion of the Damned stuff, and I remembered that they have the ADEPTUS ASTARTES keyword. They used to be way overcosted, but at 25 points per model a 2w marine with a 3++, deep strike, an extra cc attack, and shooting attacks that ignore all cover might be interesting.

I gotta glue so many Immortals back onto their bases to paint. Honestly not sure why I even took them off their bases. I think it was so I could add green stuff to the bases after using the roller with Necron design stuff.

Anyone have a good way to flatten out a bunch of green stuff? I'm guessing probably a rolling pin but if there is an easier way I'd be down for that.

So the Necromunda card availability issue continues to be ridiculous. Escher tactics card pack, released 10am, sold out by 10:05. And they are never reprinted.

At least the content from those is going to be in the House of Blades book, but chances are the other card packs out today (Ogryn tactics, Zone Mortalis tactics, Open War cards) will will disappear by the end of the day and the rules within will never be available again anywhere.

Edit: And Ogryn tactics gone now at 10:30. They'll likely never be in a book or re-printed. Half hour window to purchase then lost to the wind forever.

Which would make sense, but GW gave them all the previous two rule updates (Bolter Discipline and Shock Assault), and all of the other Space Marines got the Angels of Death rule added to their Legends datasheets (the only difference between the two being Combat Doctrines, which aren't possible to get with LotD since they can't make a Battle Forged army on their own). They're clearly updating Legends models with rule changes, they're just not rebalancing them the same way they are with regular models.

    They did reprint the house of chains stuff {I panic bought the cards at the last second for them but not the book or minis}
I want the open war and hive cards but alas no one ebay has them
It also seems the Ogryn is hotter than the Eschers right now as I was able to get the book the new minis and cards but I will not be able to play with them until the house of artifice comes out {Still got to get him to build his gang instead of using the ye old Van Saar gangers} It is also silly you basically need to get two gangs to be flexible and the forge world items for them :(

    My opponents list from memory:
    HQ:
-3x Tempestor Primes one with laurels, one with old grudges, and another with reroll 1s which I think is a relic
    -2x Primaris psykers
-Xenos Inquisitor with a power fist and the wound on 2+ relic

    Troops:
    10x Scions with plasma maxed
    10x Scions with plasma maxed
10x Scions with hot shot volley guns

    Elites:
    2x Command squads 1 with 4 melta 1 with 4 plasma
10x Crusaders (I think these were with the inquisitor)
    1x Ministorum priest

    Flyers:
    2xValks

    Transports
Like 6x Taurox Prime? A lot of these

    1. Turn one he dropped his inquisitors with in charge range of my Electro priest. He rolls okay on his attack but not great. I lose 3. He is a 2++ due to the act of faith rule but I roll a lot of 6s with my wounds and the priest murder them with mortal wounds. I lost some damage to the shooting not a lot. He went first which actually may have hurt him. I lost one Kastellan Robot and some rangers basically. My turn I kill his ministorum priest with my now pumped up priest. Kill one of the valks. Hurt another. Be able to grab a lot of territory.

    2. Turn two he kills one vanguard squad. My disentagrator, my last robot and my plane. I return and get valk 2 to 1 wound. Kill most of his now on the board squads. My priest eat another tempestor squad in combat. Killed some characters who I could shoot. Nothing really major. I bring in my deepstrikers. Fail to kill his reroll 1 commander by 1 wound with my infiltrators.

3.Turn 3 he finishes off my calvary. Those things are worth all their points. Kills another vanguard a ranger squad. Does damage to my incarus array dunecrawler. I keep healing him as he isn't able to finish him off. He probably does 20 wounds to a single dunecrawler thanks to repair+repair again with CP. This turn I break open. Finish off a valk with my skystalker grenades. It explodes but doesn't roll well. I finish off all the scions on the board but one squad. By the end of the turn he is down to 5 units. I own the whole board and maxing all my points.

He concedes at this point. First win ever verse my opponent. He is an amazing guard player. Was my main practice opponent for NoVA last year. He went 7-2 last year as well. Just really good at seeing how armies work. We are both learning but 9th hit guard and even scions hard. I like his crusaders though. He was too aggressive with them this game. Should have taken something and dared me to come fight him. A much better use of the 2++. My mortal wound dudes don't care about that.

Getting use to my Ad Mech. I think the Kastellan robots are a trap in 9th. Sure they can't really be locked down. And they put out a lot of shots. But they are immobile to do it. 9th is board control first. I think shooty chickens and more vanguard and more raiders are much better. Use the ad mech speed to play almost like asshole eldar with a 6++ on the whole army.

Still a lot of rules to remember though. They are wonky but good.

I love seeing people post batreps on here. Interesting to see how people are playing 9th.

Per the bolded, I haven't played a ton of games yet with my Space Wolves in 9th, but the games I've been the most successful with have been all about bullying my opponent back into their deployment zone and keeping the middle of the board. Most games I've almost been tabled by bottom of turn four, but I've still one by miles on primaries and earned enough on secondary's to keep the spread in my favor.

So, I walked into my FLGS today, set on buying a Command Edition and some paints. I walked in and the guy asked if I needed anything, and I made an off-hand joking comment like, "Yeah, you guys are all sold out of those Indomitus boxes, yeah?" Guy looks at me and says, "Well, I have some, but I don't think I can sell them"

"Yeah, no problem, but if you can sell one, I will buy it", I say and go about my browsing. Seemed they were sold out of the Command Edition, and I didn't want to drop all the way down to the Elite Edition, so I was pretty bummed. Turn to leave and the guy has an Indomitus in his hand, and says, "It'll be $230 though."

So, I guess I'm building Necrons and Blood Angels again :)

The following people are amazing and I love them: Wildcat, Timspork, Kias, Denada, susan, Sharp101, [GHSC]Ryctor, Matev, Matrias, ItBurns, Slapnuts, Dayspring, see317, and the unknown poster that sent me a box of Death Company! <3 If you get them as Santees you should buy them amazing things!

    I'm very into this.

So it’s a Kelermorph but gets twice the shots and is more durable?

Oh wait another shot when he kills something? The Kelermorph is more reliable as it gets an extra shot when it hits.
