Re: everyone saying New Mutants couldn't possibly be the worst X-Men flick
It is both racist as hell in the movie, with one of the leads repeatedly saying heinous shit towards Dani Moonstar, and outside of the film itself with the black erasure and it's director saying he "doesn't care about the racism" when confronted about it
The other X-Men movies have problems but they are mostly just...bad.
This is BAD

I was thinking on the racism and comparing it to the racism of First Class. This does sound pretty shitty though.
The racism of first class was bad but in a way where it isn't aggressively in your face
Darwin is killed, but he isn't called racist names by a character we are supposed to be rooting for

I guess I'll have to see it myself sometime but Inception was similarly described as confusing.
It’s way more
Inception played with the time flow but at least it was always forward, and there was only ever one of anyone in play at once
This is roughly Looper but instead of Bruce Willis saying it doesn’t matter it has Robert Pattinson saying it matters and is crucial that you understand
True love is including your fear of losing your family in all of your films even though people make fun of you for fridging. In this essay,

I had forgotten about that! Now I'm mad about Darwin all over again!

Do you think it's a copy of the Jack Nicholson/Morgan Freeman buddy comedy, or a video of your dad fist-fighting an emu?

Wait these might be tenet spoilers, just general musings about the movie. Sorry!
I don’t think tenet plot or action was particularly confusing, but you did have to concentrate on what happened, and how that would then happen backwards and the only time it was difficult for me to track both was right at the end because the lighting was poor.

The one part that truly puzzled me was the whereabouts of R-Pat during the climax. It took me until the ride home to understand that he was secretly on the Forward team wearing blue, so he could save the other two at the end, and THEN went on the backward team so he could rush straight to the pit and open the gate, to then get shot and die. The rest made sense after the fact but I did get distracted during the action trying to figure out exactly what was going on.

You do see him go into the turnstile at some point, but I did pick in my head literally twenty seconds before he did that that someone was going to switch sides.
The thing I don’t get is why did the protagonist shoot himself when he was trying to get in the turnstile?

Oh wow I completely missed the part where he switched entropy mid-mission. That whole climax was extremely chaotic.
This really sounds like Memento but with a huge budget.
Nah not really.
It’s still time stuff but it’s very different.
The other thing that really bugged me about the movie is that it felt like it was just a movie about rich people. Even thoughThe protagonist isn’t necessarily rich they essentially just get given a bunch of privilege and I think nowadays that feels a bit too on the nose.

There’s one weird bit where he gets poor-shamed for wearing an insufficiently tailored suit and like, that whole scene was out of place as hell. And like, since he’s the only black person in this movie, that’s a yike.
It really feels like they could’ve cut from the first parts of this movie, the Michael Caine scene and everything involving the fake drawings was very unnecessary and only seemed to complicate the plot further.

Just watched Bill and Ted Face the Music
Kind of guessed where the plot was going... well, honestly before the movie even started, but it was still a lot of fun getting there. Reeves and Winter slide right back into those roles perfectly, and Weaving and Lundy-Paine were great and while they had to share time with the parallel Winter/Reeves plot so it didn't get quite as much room to breathe, their travels felt very fun in an Excellent Adventure kind of way.
Glad I bought it because I'm definitely gonna be watching this again. And I'll undoubtedly buy a physical release when that is available, since I don't actually like relying on digital copies of movies.

Went to the drive-in last night.
New Mutants was pretty meh, and pretty hard to see at a lot of points; don't know how much of that was on the quality of the projector. At least we won't have to put up with the same interminable "New Mutants is never coming out" jokes anymore.
Bill & Ted Face the Music was great. A heartfelt buddy comedy like the first two, it uses the weight of age and time to add a bit of gravitas but then uses that gravitas to make everything else just that much sillier. Who Missy is with this time is completely ridiculous and also makes complete sense.
Theres some sort of disney thing with an elevator right some sorta ride
Tower of Terror
it's a little funny how plotless Tower of Terror is
like, that's true of most theme park rides, but you'd think they'd put in a little more effort for what's supposed to be an episode of the Twilight Zone, but instead Fake Rod Serling is like, "imagine, if you will, that an elevator got struck by lightning and fell down, and it is many years later, and the elevator is now falling down, again"

It's just a sweet, good natured, goofy movie.
I desperately need an edit where Martin Sheen's character in this is Jed Bartlett from the West Wing.
The Dead Zone has been on my mind a lot these last few years, can’t imagine why.
