if we can knock the Spectre down again, I believe the guard doesn't get a chance to get back up
This is accurate yes. There's always a chance it doesn't Rise Again next round anyways too, despite the fact that they've yet to fail that roll haha. In that case y'all would surely get the Spectre in a full round
Zwift is a turbo trainer game that enables you to link you turbo trainer up your computer, iPad, iPhone or Apple TV, letting you ride with other cyclists in a virtual environment, therefore helping to alleviate some of the boredom associated with indoor riding.
Peloton is a all in one solution that does roughly the same. I’m only looking at this as I can get it for about $110/mo s as a rental.
With my current work schedule I have no free time during daylight hours. So I’m thinking of either a peloton or putting my bike on a zwift trainer. Has anyone used either that can give me first hand advice on what would be better for me to just hop on when I have time and pedal till I’m out of time? Between work, kids, the wife going to college I don’t have much free “me” time to grab my bike and go for a ride. I’m overweight and really need to start doing some kinda cardio to lose the excess weight. I’ve adjusted my food and now need to add more exercise. The reason for bike oriented is my knees need a more low impact exercise till I drop weight as they are starting to complain.
"Lend a hand, there!" Kay calls out as he charges past Zin and Cid and towards Rohan. "A lift, for all love!" Rohan has just enough time to turn and offer a supporting arm as Kay leaps, grabbing the edge of the pillar and swinging up and over into the remaining, wounded Spectre.
Cavaliere! Move to end up in the Spectre's space again, making a heavy attack with +1 boon for height. This is a Finishing Blow against the bloodied Spectre, and because it's bloodied it automatically takes fray damage (3) on the way in.
I don't think a 4 is going to hit, so it takes fray damage again (3) for 6 total, and it is blinded and burning. I pick up a Stacked Die.
Kay hasn't fought together yet with Rohan, and he misjudges where the other Trogg's arm is going to be. Kay is slightly off-balance when he lands, then, and his pistol charge is largely expended against the dirt and dust beside the Spectre. The wash of flame is just barely enough to start the Relict ablaze, however, and the cloud of smoke which accompanies the pirate's shot might interfere with the Spectre's own attacks.

I have a tacx smart bike with Zwift and did a direct drive trainer before then. I personally love Zwift (though if you don't like virtual worlds, Wahoo has their Wahoo X stuff that has RGT and SYSTM https://www.wahoofitness.com/wahoo-x-membership ). I would recommend at least a direct drive trainer if you can as otherwise laggy spikes in power/resistance stuff are common as you have slippage on the tire (also more consumables). DC Rainmaker has some good reviews, but Wahoo, Elite and others all make good ones, so basically just get the one on sale. It has occasional update lag, but usually you're up and running in minutes (depending on the computer/tablet). One other thing you absolutely should get is a heart rate strap as it lets you use ERG mode (IE - you can set a target Heart Rate and it will adjust to keep you in the zone) - also great for doing zone training and being honest about it.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
I am interested in a direct drive. I’m just poor so I need to find one I can afford on sale! What would you suggest at the lower end.
Honestly look for an older elite direto/wahoo etc. On craigslist or bike forums. Plenty upgrade and sell them off cheap. Zwift is also coming out with one for 499.
Also looks like you can get suitos for 510 and diretos for 599 from REI right now (then get the dividend if you're a member).
Also some decent pricing on the kickr base direct drive model and the tacx flux
I figured if I'm going to get an electric bike I was going to go all in and not pretend like it's an normal bike but now my legs are somehow stronger, it was going to be a ridiculous thing where clearly I'm not riding an acoustic bike (credit to someone on twitter for that particular phrasing), it was definitely a weird roughly bike-shaped thing with a motor. (also it folds because pretty much all the electric bikes this shape fold, for some reason). So, added front basket, rear rack, a random plastic crate I had kicking around and some zip-ties, and now I can use it to carry around significantly more stuff than I could practically carry on a normal bike:
The handling was not the greatest with 21lbs of pumpkin dangling off the front like that, but it was manageable. Also, the front basket is fixed to the frame, so there's a weird effect where, when I turn the handlebars, the wheel turns but the basket doesn't, which is very much not what my eyes are expecting to see, and I still have to really think about it when going round really tight corners.
It also turned out that the crate on the back is a perfect fit for the standard folding grocery box/bags around here, and the front basket will hold a big bag of dog kibble, so that's been useful:
Riding it around is fine; the motor's enough to get me up all the hills that I can get up pedalling normally, just with less effort, and while the tires don't have a whole lot of grip on loose dusty terrain the overall handling is good enough that I can get _down_ all the same hills that I could get down normally, usual 'weight over the back wheel' techniques work. (video links, they're not big but are bigger than I want to embed in this thread. The awful sound in the first one is because it was taken with my phone bungee'd to the front basket so it picked up a lot of rattling, and the second one doesn't look like much on video but that particular little slope is steep enough that _walking_ up/down it takes some care and attention, I promise)
On the flats the maximum speed is maybe 35km/h with the motor at full power, and given how heavy it is I can't get it much beyond that by pedalling, so I couldn't keep up with me-on-a-road-bike-on-a-good-day, if you see what I mean, but that's fine -- I got this as a workaround while I'm physically not at my peak for various other reasons, and it definitely means I can keep cycling everywhere I'd normally be cycling, and as a bonus tote a bunch of heavy stuff with me if necessary. Plus, new toy!
I skipped the Jack septiceye videos because I really don't enjoy him as a guest on the show. So I'm watching the barista one and holy shit it's killing me inside.
Despite the Spectre having a pretty low defense, it's not QUITE that low
That said, the damage of Rohan and yourself is enough!
Although Kay's shot was not true, the flames it created in addition to the energy from Rohan's Astral Chain were enough to collapse the Spectre's already damaged form. With a sigh, almost, the gauntlets and tattered armor fall to the ground. Cidryn and Zin are able to use this brief moment of respite to ensure that the Tomb Guard stays defeated. And with that, the Relict enemies are no more.
The mechanism in the mound, sensing only one type of essence nearby at all, fully disengages. The large front doors are not locked. The party is able to recuperate a bit, introduce themselves to their new companion, and then continue exploring the tower for the missing son of Elder Yu, Gwyn.
Congrats all! This was a long fight, but you did it!
Some post-battle stuff: everyone heals to 50% of your maximum HP, if you haven't yet. If you fell and were Wounded (lowered max HP), you still are, that's gonna persist for a while. Vigor shields are gone. You have the option to Camp, which will heal you to full HP minus Wounds (for combat gameplay) and remove your strain and restore your effort (for narrative gameplay), but I would probably recommend waiting on that?
Everyone reaches level 1! You've done enough now to be familiar with the basics. Here's what you get for level 1:
Feel free to take your time thinking about that. The combat stuff in particular-- unless you all are really rash we should have a good chunk of exploration and narrative gameplay, so you can think on it a bit.
Now that you're level 1, your actions on the Narrative side of things (ie outside of real combat) are the biggest way for you to gain xp. So, really think about how you've created your character and what you can do. Here's a brief overview of gaining xp:
You'll get Xp in the near future mostly with those first two. Because:
Everyone has Ideals! That's your best way right now for xp, give some appropriate roleplay and decision-making. (Please help me out and note when you're doing so, as it's hard for me to remember every player's multiple Ideals still.)
We'll see if we overcome challenges here. There are opportunities for that in the tower! So if you all manage to overcome them....
We haven't set any ambitions yet (aka larger projects or fun goals). "An ambition could be anything from crafting a magic sword, researching into long forgotten civilizations, simply pursuing personal growth goals, or bringing together an alliance to fight a monster invasion." That will probably come up later, it's typically something you do in between expeditions, but let me know if you have something that would make sense while exploring the tower.
No one has any Burdens yet, as you've yet to encounter many difficult obstacles in the Narrative sense so you haven't risked Strain yet. But maybe that will change! Don't be afraid to take risks!
For your actual XP, I'm expecting you'll keep track of that. It doesn't matter until certain "checkpoints," aka camping and a couple other things, after which we'll see if anyone got enough.
I just started playing Fall Guys a few months ago after it went free to play. I did okay, for the most part, even getting a crown on my first round. But I ran into more problems over time, and there are lot of games I completely suck at. Wall Guys, Fruit Shoot, etc. I sometimes find it a bit frustrating.
So, anyway, in TODAY'S episode of Game Grumps...
Quetzi on
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
I'm slightly put out that I was playing to Ideals prior to getting XP for it, but that's very mercenary, and I'll put that feeling in the trash where it belongs.
.. still, Cid is still aiming to confront the bully that broke the wall at the pub at some point
I'm slightly put out that I was playing to Ideals prior to getting XP for it, but that's very mercenary, and I'll put that feeling in the trash where it belongs.
.. still, Cid is still aiming to confront the bully that broke the wall at the pub at some point
To be honest, I didn't expect any of y'all to be tracking it yet . But that's on me, still, I should have been more clear about what it means that we're starting at level 0.
Really though, I don't mind it if you have a bit of XP here, some extra points are not going to break things and it's cool that you've gotten into it already! Rules are meant to be bent, we are rebels, rawrrr. Unless you've snuck in like, 10 points or something, that's a bit much
I think the Rot/Regenerate combo is probably where I'm going then.
Helps me out in the spots where I get caught with the wrong end of the Sow/Reap combo, plus I can give Regeneration, which is even more useful since my Cure gives people a Vigor shield.
Alright so,
I'll improve Stealth to 2
Take power of friendship Illuminate - Your actions have +1 boon or
increased effect with or against characters or
creatures that trust you.
And Bolt (light attack power) and limit break (Ragnarok)
And 1 XP for finding out how the pub's wall broke.
Where are you getting the extra dot to Stealth/Sneak?
I'm taking:
Bond Power:
Midnight Eyes - You can see in the dark, which could make your risk and effect better. Your study and sense actions get increased effect in darkness. At Chapter III or higher, you can see anything close by in good detail without the use of your eyes.
Ability:
ROT
1 action, combo, mark
Leaves shrivel. Hair Curls. Wounds fail to heal.
Mark: Mark a foe in range 5. That foe is poisoned while marked, cannot gain vigor while marked, and cannot end statuses except by saving against them at the end of their turn.
COMBO: REGENERATE
Mark: Mark an ally in range 4. While marked, that character has regeneration. This effect and mark ends if they take at least 1 damage to hp. This mark can be placed even if Rot is already active.
Where are you getting the extra dot to Stealth/Sneak?
On the narrative side, you get your Bond Power (which you've taken) and then you get to improve an action. Those are all the things like Sneak, Sense, Endure, etc. You get another dot!
Also one thing to keep in mind with yours, is that remember the Combo "tracker" is across all your abilities. So, using Sow will mean that you will use Regenerate next, not Rot. Unless you use Reap, first, of course. Or using Rot first means Reap will happen instead of Sow, if you do that action. I'm pretty sure you remembered that, just doublechecking
I did not actually know that. But it makes the choice all the easier because now both my Combo starters mark, so my ability to get Reap off is much easier.
But also, based on this battle, we need some way to heal.....
For my added dot, I'm going to add 1 to Sense. Going to lean heavily into Zin being as observent as possible.
Also unsure whether we get 1 Dust for the combat encounter, as we have no relics yet (pg 209)
In any case, @Korror don't forget your camp item!
These are on pg 220.
Relevant because it also looks like you need your +1 to Command or Charm from Cidryn's Aetherpearls
Thrynn
Guilder - Tolerance, Patience, Drive, Friendliness
Mender - +2 Tinker
- I addressed challenges with diplomacy, positivity, or empathy
- I expressed my heritage, background or beliefs through my actions
- I learned how someone or something was broken
Effort: 5, Strain: 5
Second Wind: None (only regain effort from bond powers, camping or interludes)
Special Ability: You can allow someone else to regain 1 effort by spending 1 effort
A Better Way (+1d or increased effect, on Tinker or Study)
Illuminate - Your actions have +1 boon or
increased effect with or against characters or
creatures that trust you
Actions
culture or background - Guilder, Charm, Sense
personal qualities - who i am, Studyx2
life experience - what I did, Tinker, Sneak
Slip:Action or move,exile 1
Levitation: Ignore dangerous terrain
Aetherwall: Automatic cover against attacks outside of range 2
Chain Reaction:1/turn, if 2 or more enemies in AoE, +1 Aether
Aether - 1/turn
Aether Deflection: Interrupt 1: On Target, Gain Resistance against the ability. Spend 1 Aether at any time to regain.
Static Charge: Infuse reduced by 1 for each enemy in range 2. Min 1 cost.
Storm Hilt Rage: Round 5 and above, teleports are range infinite, and as an effect to visible space before or after taking any action.
Klingekunst: Teleport 3, Move
Magnetism: Action Mark: Range 6, Electrified+, Aura 2 - difficult terrain, shove 1 towards+/away-.
Levinblade: Heavy Mekee Attack, Range 2, Arc 4 (any pattern, end is target, start is adj), 2d8+fray, miss/AoE: fray, electrify, teleport 1 before and after, On hit: 1 piercing damage again for each character adj to target, up to 4.
- Infuse 2: effect area and teleport distance +2.
Bolt - Light Ranged Attack Line 8, Pierce, Electrified, Vulnerable, d8+4, AoE/miss 4, if no adj +2 pierce, teleport 1 before or after.
- Infuse 2: line 8 + cross 2
Gran Levincross - 4 resolve
Heavy Ranged Attack
Split map with cross.
d8 + 4 divine, electrified, teleport out of cross. Save to choose themselves.
Cross blocks movement except teleports, til end of next round.
Allies: 1 action, teleport
- Infuse 3: Ragnarok
Additional d8+4 Divine to 1/4.
Oh, I thought "the group" picked one camp item, and I was going to grab argue for the pearls anyway, so I didn't even think to add another.
Also, just a heads-up, but I am going to be largely out-of-pocket until Wednesday. I've got Scout leadership training this weekend in the woods that I'm leaving for in a couple hours, then the election on Tuesday (with Monday night set-up). On Wednesday, I'll be able to breathe a bit.
Okay, for the Narrative side, picking up Colortongue (Kay's been sailing around so far for so long that he can make himself incomprehensible in any language). Adding +1 pip to Sense, because I do need to be able to make out the horizon, at least, at some point.
For the Combat side, I'm thinking of picking up Gallows Humor:
GALLOWS HUMOR
Stance, Power die
The power of Divine Death flows through you,
empowering your strikes.
Stance: Set out a d4 power die, starting at 1.
While in this stance, when you or an adjacent ally
misses or is missed by an attack, tick the die up by
1. When the die is 4, you may reset it to 1 when
you or an adjacent ally uses an ability to empower
it. The ability deals bonus damage and triggers
any slay effects, hit or miss. These effects can
trigger again if the character is also slain by the
ability.
Refresh: This stance refreshes at the start of
your turn. When it refreshes, tick the die up by 1.
Bring out the fireworks. Fire up the elden magic. Time for a showstopper.
Effect: Target a line area of 1d6+3 spaces, with a
maximum of 9 spaces. Teleport adjacent to the
first foe in that line, then deliver a killing blow,
dealing divine damage. This ability has different
effects depending on their position on the line.
Roll [D] + fray damage once, then apply it the
number of times listed.
4 spaces: 1 damage. Inflict burning, refund
resolve, and can use this limit break again this
combat.
5-6 spaces: x2, inflict Burning
7-8 spaces: x3, inflict Burning
9 spaces: x4, inflict burning, and the character is
stunned.
Also unsure whether we get 1 Dust for the combat encounter, as we have no relics yet (pg 209)
Good question, but yeah, you wouldn't get this Dust yet. It specifically has to go into your Relic, it's not something you can carry around and save for later (unlike regular Dust).
But that's another good point. When you all hit level 2, you will gain a Relic. That will be some time still since you just hit level 1, but it's something to think about. What your Relic is is flexible. You can find something here while exploring, it can be something you "found" on a previous adventure, or it can be something you've always had, or whatever. So if you want it to be something you find here, keep an eye out for things you like. It won't have power yet, but you'll unlock it at level 2.
Oh, I thought "the group" picked one camp item, and I was going to grab argue for the pearls anyway, so I didn't even think to add another.

Technically it is one Camp item, yeah. Your camp is almost like a separate character to represent your group, so it gets it's own item and goals and whatnot. I didn't realize that it wasn't "one per person" until weeks into the game, so didn't want to retroactively change that . I don't mind everyone picking one.
On that note, too, I wanted to mention that I'm going to be traveling from later today until Wednesday. So, I won't be able to give frequent updates here for the next few days. Sorry! Still though, as you all finish leveling up, feel free to start conversations or moving on and whatnot, I'll hop in when I can.
One very last thing. For completing this combat (and after completing every combat from now on), everyone gains one Resolve. Resolve will be used for your new and flashy Limit Breaks!

Oh, boo.
Maybe we should pick only one for the camp.
I was wondering why there didn't seem to be very many.
I'm still here. Baby is keeping me hoping so I haven't checked in on this thread as often. I'll grab an new ability and bond power soon.
Now that we've cleared this room, are we going to investigate more of the tower? Rohan would examine the room for any signs of a non-remitent having passed through here. He's looking for evidence of his personal nemesis, the man with red eyes, but also any sign of the kid.

Ah yeah I have no idea what games they've been playing so I've kind of skipped them. It was just so jarring to cut from the end of a bit to their ad.

Because:
For your actual XP, I'm expecting you'll keep track of that. It doesn't matter until certain "checkpoints," aka camping and a couple other things, after which we'll see if anyone got enough.

So, anyway, in TODAY'S episode of Game Grumps...
Level 0 to 1 is a special level. You don't technically track xp at level 0. Well, you can for practice, but it doesn't matter.
So, no, you don't have any xp now. But from now on, you only level via xp.
Does that make sense?

I'm slightly put out that I was playing to Ideals prior to getting XP for it, but that's very mercenary, and I'll put that feeling in the trash where it belongs.
.. still, Cid is still aiming to confront the bully that broke the wall at the pub at some point
To be honest, I didn't expect any of y'all to be tracking it yet
Really though, I don't mind it if you have a bit of XP here, some extra points are not going to break things and it's cool that you've gotten into it already! Rules are meant to be bent, we are rebels, rawrrr. Unless you've snuck in like, 10 points or something, that's a bit much

So something that targets the enemy but doesn't say attack (and doesn't actually do damage) would be usable the same turn as an attack?
Yup!

Helps me out in the spots where I get caught with the wrong end of the Sow/Reap combo, plus I can give Regeneration, which is even more useful since my Cure gives people a Vigor shield.
I'm taking:
Then get my limit break, Death Sentence
On the narrative side, you get your Bond Power (which you've taken) and then you get to improve an action. Those are all the things like Sneak, Sense, Endure, etc. You get another dot!
Also one thing to keep in mind with yours, is that remember the Combo "tracker" is across all your abilities. So, using Sow will mean that you will use Regenerate next, not Rot. Unless you use Reap, first, of course. Or using Rot first means Reap will happen instead of Sow, if you do that action. I'm pretty sure you remembered that, just doublechecking

But also, based on this battle, we need some way to heal.....
For my added dot, I'm going to add 1 to Sense. Going to lean heavily into Zin being as observent as possible.
In any case, @Korror don't forget your camp item!
These are on pg 220.
Relevant because it also looks like you need your +1 to Command or Charm from Cidryn's Aetherpearls
Cid updated stat block:
I'm going to grab the Portable Library, so everyone can add +1 to Tinker or Study

For the Combat side, I'm thinking of picking up Gallows Humor:
And I get Curtain Call as my Limit Break:

Technically it is one Camp item, yeah. Your camp is almost like a separate character to represent your group, so it gets it's own item and goals and whatnot. I didn't realize that it wasn't "one per person" until weeks into the game, so didn't want to retroactively change that
On that note, too, I wanted to mention that I'm going to be traveling from later today until Wednesday.

Now that we've cleared this room, are we going to investigate more of the tower? Rohan would examine the room for any signs of a non-remitent having passed through here. He's looking for evidence of his personal nemesis, the man with red eyes, but also any sign of the kid.
