The only things I don't prefer about Violet is the Professor and the naming convention for the Paradox Forms. The names of the Scarlet PokeDox are much cooler. But Ralts' is deffo my favorite
maybe the real panopticon was the friends we made along the way
I saw that there is a mystery gift for a flying Pikachu, is this something that we can reset for ideal nature or does it save automatically like in the past?
It saves
Aw shucks. Thanks!
You can buy mints at one of the Chansey stores
I didn't know mints were a thing! Neat!

So, lemme preface this by stating I've never played any of the games except for Go, so I don't have any direct experience...
That said, I've always gotten the impression that the Johto games were much more of a direct sequel than the others. Like the others felt like a more Final Fantasy style series, but Johto felt like an FFX-2
maybe the real panopticon was the friends we made along the way
Tinkalink line I think is my fav of the new lines so far but they all are really good! Even the new bugs I don't mind. But my little fairy hammer warrior is my fav so far

Also I think if I could I'd go rogue with my starter. Like pawmi, who's about the same spot as pikachu, so there's at least a little equivalence. Or be weird and have Cyclizar. Or hell even Eevee lol

I am holding fast to my teambuilding policy of "no previous gen Mons" despite how difficult that is, there's a lot of greats even in just the first couple places. Unfortunately, since I picked Fuecoco, I'm still absent a Water type. I was actually using Hoppip for a while until I found Smoliv, but Hoppip's such a sweet little guy and basically worthless in a fight anyway, so whatever. Went West and grabbed the first badge, then spent longer than I care to admit trying to find the little red guy that looks like he probably evolves into Ceruledge/Armarouge, since the map was showing they could be found nearby. I finally caved and looked it up, and it was for the best. For anyone else who's having trouble with that, if you just want a little hint...
It looks like they're fixed spawns, despite showing on the map in "random" locations. So if you go to a place and don't see it, don't bother waiting around, it's either there or it's not.
It's a backup for now, since as I said Fuecoco was my starter, but I'm not very impressed with Crocalor's look. If it doesn't grow on me, or if the final evo is disappointing, it's probably going in the box.
I am surprised at how much I'm enjoying the Tera Raid battles so far. Granted I've only done a couple of the super easy ones, but I did nab me a new Pokemon with an unusual Tera Type that I immediately swapped onto my team.
Also:
If I replay this game, there's a decent chance I go with an All Good Boys team. I've met like 5 different doggos just this far into the game.

past the lighthouse at the start if you follow the little river between it and the next town to a small beach there’s wigletts. You gotta throw a ball at them from close to max range or they spook and burrow without being able to start a fight though
So the restaurants have confirmed the existence of ham and various forms of seafood (like clams) as things the people here eat. And also there’s a dish that straight up restore a boiled Klawf claw. People absolutely eat (some) Pokémon around these parts.

Had the game crash when I opened the map traveling toward the steel titan. Thankfully only lost like half an hour/10 catches from my dex. Turned autosave back on after that. Make sure if you turn yours off that you save frequently!
The one that I know is that the Paradox Pokémon are entirely different. In Scarlet, they’re all primitive versions of existing Pokémon from the distant past. In Violet, they’re all variants of Pokémon from the distant future, resembling robots and such.

Like Legends, I really hate how detached from the action the combat camera is in this game. It takes a lot away from the fights, it makes you feel so removed. Really needs to be an option to make it stay in the cinematic style of SWSH for all encounters.
Constantly having to click the right analog stick just to get a decent angle in every battle sucks.
Tera raids are SUPER speedy. They really took the criticism that the dynamax ones were too slow to heart which was good to see.
So I just caught a Nacli. This thing is a Mario power up. No seriously. The design looks so much like a variant mushroom you’d get in one of the Galaxy games. It’s a Salt Mushroom that turns you into Salt Mario.
So far I think I hate all the new mons that aren’t based on old mons. Which I don’t think I’ve ever had that reaction before. There’s just something un-Pokémon art style or overdesigned about a bunch of these. Fuecoco’s second form sure is a thing.
It just is sad that I want to play with only new mons
Well if we’re talking about funny glitches: when my Koraidon first went into his ride form in a cutscene, he somehow ended up completely out of frame, making it really funny to see the characters talk about how he looked. I thought the model failed to load, but it was just him being positioned wrong.
After final evolution last night... the tinkalink line is definitely my favorite of the new stuff. Especially after the horror of what the tarantula one became.
Emulators, which we don’t play because they are illegal and you’ll die, generally have gameplay speed multipliers and jeeze, it’s near impossible to play the actual games once you, if you did and no one ever has, played one that way.

Heck, the game even has a bit of a thing over PLA; you can access your box at any time instead of needing to go back to camp.

I hope there’s another patch soon.

Side note, I really dislike how they removed the GTS from the games and make people use pokemon home for trading and then delay the release of it.
Look you can snu-snu hot dad just as well
Instead of an animation followed by “You used Potion on X! X gained 20 HP!”
It’s
“You used potion on X!”
pause
animation
“X gained 20 HP!”
pause
Done
It doesn’t add up to much in a vacuum, but I wish they’d drop convention and condense this shit.
I'm constantly begging for harder difficulty options and Gamefreak are just straight up taking out what minor bits there were left.
They're ruthless.
