hi, i'm an 18- year old aussie exchange camp counsellor staying in vallejo , ca. i was wondering if anybody would be able to pick me up from sacramento, then take me back down to, la/san diego/vegas?
anyone that could help would be greatly appreciated. i havent yet made travel arrangements back to l.a, i have a flight out on sept. 6th, and if anyone could help me, it would save me a plane fare.
Route, "itinerary", and everything will be complete Monday. After that, we match cars with passengers and alternate drivers, and then everything will be set.
After this, I don't want to look at another map ever again.
if you guys are stopping at Fry's in LA, i was wondring if you will have room for 2? we will have money for some gas and food for you guys
catch me on AIM: AngelOfIDeath88

The entire point of the "Get A Ride" section of the WCST website is for you to contact the drivers directly, instead of them having to find and contact you.
Go here, and find someone leaving from your requested rally point, and then email them!
When you look there, you will see that we have 4 cars with 11 possibly open seats. Check it out first!

Red I can't seem to find you on AIM. But I guess that's also my fault, because I'm never online...
What was wrong with the Gmail forwarding?
BTW guys: Get A Ride is working! My car is already full (2 more claimed by PAX; Muwahahaha!) but there are plenty of other seats avaliable (I bet even more, once I get the master list from RMD). So if you are even thinking of going to PAX this year, then Get A Ride! There are no excuses! It costs less per person! It's more fun! We have a guy (hey, ccgman) driving from Detroit, Michigan! With 2 seats avaliable!
Also BTW, I'm working on T-shirts. RMD has a guy making stickers. There has been talk of flags and banners. How are we planning to pay for these glorious items? How much would YOU be willing to pay to recieve a 2004 WCST fan-pack?
I can't email at the moment still in europe. Back in 2 daysish (I don't know what day it is )

Sorry it took so long. I actually finished the stop schedule early Monday morning, I just never got around to posting it.
The Supertrip will start out from Phoenix and head west on the I-10 and stop in Blythe, CA to gas up, change drivers, food, etc. From there it will continue to the Anaheim waypoint and meet up with the LA area Supertrippers.
From Los Angeles, we will head north on I-5 to Santa Nella, CA where we will gas up, get food, change drivers, etc. From there, we will head up to Sacramento and meet up with the Sacramento/Bay Area/etc. Supertrippers.
From Sacramento, we will make the long haul to Redding, CA where we will meet up with the people meeting us in Redding.
From there, we will be gassing/changing/fooding/meeting drivers in: Medford, Eugene, and Portland, until we reach our final destination: Seattle.
Also, I want a final vote on where the Eugene waypoint will be.
Hmmm... is there going to be more (as in more detailed) information coming soon?
The WCST website has a schedule... I'd like to see something like that get confirmed, set-in-stone, whatever. It doesn't need to be to-the-hour, but I would like to know when the caravan is crossing each waypoint... if only in terms of Thursday night, Friday morning, Friday afternoon, Friday night, etc.
I'm having a hard time including a Friday night stay at the hotel without knowing this in advance (as I could simply leave Saturday morning).
Thanks for all the work you guys are doing... I hope this turns out as cool as I think it could be...

EDIT: Oh, and where is the Portland waypoint anyway? You asked about Eugene, but I haven't seen a specific place in Portland yet.
Just read through the whole thread, sucks that the Fry's deal never went through, that would have rocked, but ive been spending all day looking at plane ticket and hotel prices to go to PAX, and didnt come away too impressed with the money that would cost. Which means, I would be interested in joining up with you guys in Anaheim, since I live in Riverside its only like an 45 minutes away.
If I do go, Im perfectly willing to chip in for gas, and probably bring a case or two of Bawls for the drivers, if its a straight drive, they might need it, and its the least I could do being that I myself dont feel comfortable driving other peoples cars, I get paranoid about that...
I may still get a room at the Doubletree for at the minimum, Sunday night. Possibly Friday and Saturday, But that would be better if someone else chipped in for that though to lower the costs, though it would be nice to have being so close to the event.

The Bawls would be excellent. Also, part of the reason there's so many stops is so we can keep fresh drivers in at all times.
I vote the final waypoint for Eugene should be Gateway mall parking lot. Behind the mall, where the old Emporium used to be. No cars will be back there as right now it's an empty building.
For the super trip when it gets here you just head toward the mall, just past the post office, turn into the mall parking lot, head behind the mall and see all the video game geeks lined up to join the crowd.

Well, I understand that, I myself just dont like driving other peoples cars, Ive only had my liscense for a little over a year, and the whole time Ive been driving just my Ford Escort, which needs some repairs, so it wont be coming on the trip. So if I go, hopfully I can get a seat in a vehicle with plenty of spare drivers, so I dont have to.
But, tomorrow, Im going to tell my boss that I need the 27th-29th off(I only work weekends, so thats all I need), which since my boss is cool, probably wouldnt have a problem with that, and if its a go, then Ill make my hotel reservation and purchase the PAX ticket too, Ill e-mail you and let you know when I get everything setled and need a ride.
And if anyone else wants to bring some snacks or drinks for along the way, though Im sure there would be plenty of fast food stops, feel free to, Im sure everyone else wouldnt mind. Ill probably bring at least enough Bawls(and probably some Mountain Dew too, since its cheaper) for the people at the Anaheim waypoint, though, no guarantees if theres any left by the time we hit Sacramento...
Hmmm... is there going to be more (as in more detailed) information coming soon?
I am still looking for the same thing. We have less then 30 days and we still do not have a final list of when and where we are meeting.
The "where" is final except for Eugene and Portland (mainly because nobody can agree where to meet in each town). The "when" is subject to how fast we are going, what time we leave each location, traffic, etc.

Let's take care of the "where" for Portland. What's the breakdown of cars/humans you have registered for Portland? What are the current suggestions for the waypoint? It may be helpful to have an email thread amongst the Portland participants + RMD. The results can then be entered into the record for any other Portland fence-sitters to read.
As far as the "when" goes, I realize you can't know to the hour, but there must be some rough idea. If not, how are we supposed to know when to be ready? I saw some talk about a "call list" to be used when the caravan approaches a waypoint, and that sounds good. But I'm still looking for a ballpark estimate. My understanding is that the Portland waypoint will be reached late-afternoon Friday. Is that a fair guess?
I'm going to bite the bullet and email you my info. Perhaps if I hop off the fence I'm sitting on, it will help gel the Portland waypoint.

I'm about to jsut say "fuck it" and make OMSI or something the waypoint.
No, not the old OMSI up on Washington Park near the zoo... the new OMSI with the rotting submarine moored on it. The one that floods all the time whenever the Willamette rises more than two inches? Glorified fucking sewer, that river is...
Fuck. I miss Portland.
Wait!!! I have an idea! Why not make the waypoint something like, oh, Wilson High School? Or maybe the Barbur Transit Center? Or maybe the Fantasy Adult Video up on exit 294? I'd prefer the Fantasy Adult "Discreet Parking Human Barbecue" Video, mainly because it's the most recognizable thing before Jantzen Beach.
(For future reference, both the "Discreet Parking" and the "Human Barbecue" blasts are ones that only Portland natives would get. Also, I used to live three minutes - on foot - from that place. So it's all just a big old reminiscing thing for me.)
Aye, can we have like a Yahoo Maps-esque set of links that point out the route to every waypoint? That way we can just print them out and have our navigators follow those paths to each point. Also, it'd be easier than having a route of the whole thing: when you get to one waypoint, we just flip to the next page of maps and roll from there. On the way back, we do it up in reverse.
CTC it is. But while we're there, I suggest we all jet over to the chuck E. Cheese's on Powell and annoy the everliving piss out of those people. 80+ people invading a single place of business would be goddamn hilarious.

I'm thinking of a few sites to make as the waypoint though:
- OMSI
- Lloyd Center
- Delta Park
- Washington Square Mall
- Clackamas Town Center
Opinions?I'll vote town center.
