Gotta admit. Didnt expect the sweep. I thought the Wolves were kind of hero ball garbage in the clutch throughout the season, but hero ball works when Ant is heroix.

Booker was never That Guy, and I honestly would feel bad for him were it not for the fact that he clearly thinks he's That Guy. He could definitely be That Other Guy, though. A younger Klay Thompson, if you will.
I don't think any serious NBA fan looked at the Suns this year and thought, "Oh man, what a scary playoff team!" It was obvious from the start that this was an incredibly flawed roster, and the results bore themselves out. Granted, the Timberwolves are probably the worst team they could possibly face other than the Clippers or the Grizzlies, but they were never going to compete for the ship, especially without a top-tier coach who could maybe whip them into shape or find some kind of crazy schemes that could work consistently.
The Suns did sweep the regular season against the T Wolves. Thats part of what makes it a surprising result for some.
Yeah, I can see that. The problem is that the playoffs are not the same thing as the regular season. I think we've seen repeatedly, particularly in recent years, how little regular season performance matters other than in the broad aggregate as a measure of talent. The playoffs are where flawed teams and bad coaches are outright exposed, because the championship contenders will just find your weakness and spam it until you adjust, and then they will adjust to your adjustment, etc. etc. etc. The teams that can't pivot quickly or can't overcome their flaws are just going to get wrecked.
I always find it interesting when people do retrospective glossing over of poor playoff performance, too. You even see it on the internet immediately after games. "Oh, they only lost by 7, it wasn't that bad, a few plays could've turned the game!" ignoring the fact that the team was down 20+ points until the final quarter, or where the leading team just started playing straight zone coverage in the last 5 minutes to avoid tipping their hand, etc. etc. etc.
Shams put out a nice fanfiction for Booker after the series:
Booker, meanwhile, wasn’t himself in these playoffs. Since Phoenix drafted him with the 13th pick of the 2015 draft, the smooth scoring guard has become one of the most popular athletes in state history. He’s been loyal, charitable and appreciative. Before games, he stops and greets children, posing for photos. From his first NBA season, Booker has understood and embraced the responsibility that comes with being a face of the franchise.
But this season, something was missing. Like many NBA players, Booker grew up idolizing Kobe Bryant. This can be seen in his game, how Booker turns and shoots a fading jumper. At times, this has been seen in his attitude, not backing down on the court, not tolerating nonsense.
...
Booker remains at the center of everything, and will be tasked with continuing to embrace an enhanced role as a leader and a return to his usual assassin self once he’s being set up by a proper point guard again — two things the team considers musts for the 2024-25 season.

Here's the thing with Booker.
He can't protect the ball. Which means he can't handle pressure from a good single defender or multiple defenders at once.
He can do all the Kobe fadeaways he wants, but until he can protect the ball, he will be relegated to being a spot up shooter or a cutter against good teams.
People have tried to excuse this flaw by saying he "needs a good point guard" or "needs to be set up", but that's all a nice way of saying the above.
At least with Klay you got a microwave shooter who could literally just release the ball as soon as he got it. When he gets a pass, Booker still does this thing where he defaults to playing iso ball for 5 minutes before getting his shot off.
If you need someone else to give you the ball to be effective, then you are not That Guy. You are That Other Guy. Even bigs like Embiid and Jokic have good enough handles to push their way into the paint when they need to, or they can leverage their size to both receive and dish out passes where appropriate. Booker doesn't have that luxury, so he needs to be able to handle the ball without picking it up every time he faces pressure.
He also needs to be willing to force the issue and tell the coaches that they need to run something other than "everyone stand on the perimeter and pass the ball around" in order to get him free to shoot without having to handle the ball for long periods of time. In the age of Steph Fucking Curry I find it really difficult to forgive any so-called superstar who is unwilling to do the work off the ball to get shit done, especially if your obvious flaw is handling the ball.
We saw this during the latest series when the Suns were so desperate for anyone other than Booker to take the reins that they had Durant and Beal bringing the ball up regularly.

Booker has never had Klay's physique either. Klay in his prime could handle anyone on both sides because he's bigger and stronger than your average guard.
This Thunder-Pels game seems close? Only a three-point difference five minutes into the fourth.
sweep confirmed. Pelicans headed to Galveston, Texas.
1) I don’t get this joke. Like, is it a hurricane thing? Galveston’s right next to Houston.
2) I dunno how this Pels team moves forward? Like. Zion’s good, but not great, and the rest of the supporting cast seems meh at best. But I haven’t watched this team myself, so

that skateboard rules. the main logo is clever as hell with the bridge. the pelican is fine but it's doing the anime eye glint stare so i imagine it's about to kill me.
So, do the Lakera now feel good about the upgrade from "competitive sweep" to "competitive gentleman's sweep?"
I dont actually think the TWolves will be a walk for the Nuggets. Denver struggled much more with the Lakers than TWolves did with the Suns, and the Twolves have the best possible front line and wings to handle the two man game. I still expect Nuggets to win, but i bet itll take at least 6 to do it.
it's fine rob thompson gave them the game by putting in our 10 era reliever in a tie game. he got to 0-2 2 outs after putting runners on 2nd and 3rd no outs, and then threw a pitch the catcher called for a high fastball so wild that it bounced in front of the plate and two runs scored so they won anyway.

The Wolves are the biggest threat to Denver, yeah
And that’s without factoring in if Ant has a “World of Cardboard” moment

Just thinking about if the Lakers choose to blow it up. . . @Fiatil , how would you feel about the Thunder moving some of their 10,000 picks for AD? Any interest there? Could be nice to have a bulkier player next to Chet who doesn't compromise spacing too much. Who would be off limits in such a deal? Obvs, I would assume Shae and Chet would be off the table, but what about Jalen? I assume everyone else is touchable.

Jarrett Allen ruled out for game 5. Watch Cleveland get out rebounded by 30.

At least the remnants of the Bucks are playing hard for Doc unlike my team.
I would agree with you, but course i have watched more than, like, 2 quarters of that series.
And now the coach is hurt. Looked like he his knee on a fan and seems serious.
Time to get Sochan in there!

Well, lets say he is equally a fan of Galveston and the Pelicans.
hehe... manta rad

Such a luxury to not need to call timeout in that situation, so the Lakers have no plan about who/when to double in that pick and roll.

It turns out reality is better than fiction here, because if you type in Galveston, Texas to google maps, you're immediately greeted with:
