I've played a bit online, but I've primarily been focused on some single player "licence building". Does anyone know if the Bikes will have single player challenges? Alternatively, are there single player "freeburn challenges" currently? I recall them only being 2 - 8 players online.

You mean like the single player campaign that I mention three posts above? :P
Freeburn Challenges are only online, but there will be 70 by the end of next week (50 regular for cars, 10 timed for cars, 5 regular for bikes, five timed for bikes), for each group size. 490 in total.

I meant other than 'Race/Stuntrun/Burning Route/Marked Man/Road Rage' but thanks for clarifying.
Now that I think about it, those will all still be really fun on a bike.
Well it's not really clear exactly how it's set up for single-player. As I understand it, Race/Stuntrun/Burning Route/Marked Man/Road Rage are not possible on a bike, and are replaced by Burning Rides and Midnight Rides.

My guess is that Race is out because developing and testing new AI to control CPU bikes was pushing the budget of a free DLC pack. While this would also preclude Marked Man and Road Rage, I can't quite see doing takedowns anyway without wiping out yourself, so no loss, I guess.
The one thing I would think would be absolutely perfect here that wouldn't require lots of new AI and balancing would be Stunt Runs. I wouldn't be surprised if those join the Burning Rides and Midnight Rides.
Of course, whatever is there at least we can probably agree it's going to be awesome.
Man I still have a ton of work to do just getting up to date on my car licenses. Stunt runs always end in tears. I either crush the total or spend 3 minutes crashed into foot-wide barriers and leaping into the abyss.

stunt run pro tip: start the run wherever and go to the jump at the top of read ln down onto the railroad track. all the stunt run scores are pathetically easy to get if you get that jump and all the stunts down the railroad track down. also a good place to get the 40x stunt multiplier achievement.
cant wait for the bikes. i put down the game after pumping 90+ hours into messing around and getting 100%, but ive been kind of eyeing it lately. bikes seem like a good excuse to get back into it.
trophies are a separate patch thats coming after bikes, but before the island
it should be noted that there are already a ton of achievement things in the game already, and trophy support is retroactive with your save game anyway. so really guy should just get the game. but whatever.

Well the only real mention they've done other than confirming that they will be patched in are saying 'Next week, we're back to talk trophies' on the PlayStation blog. That was posted on Friday.

And we're hard at work on our Playstation Trophy Pack now. This will be followed by a new island location, more game modes and some unbelievable new vehicles.

Midnight? Don't they usually update in the afternoon? Damnit Pook just seeing your name is making me load up Burnout in a furious score-beating rage. I will destroy your scores or crash over and over and over in my horrible tear-filled sadness!
yea i dunno when they update, and i have to work at 5am tomorrow morning so its pointless to even think about racing totally sweet bikes tonight at midnight. criterions based in the UK anyway, so itll probably be like midnight there time which is even later over here.
tomorrow afternoon though. BIKES! i'll have to set a whole bunch of new records for you to cry about
does it really show my scores for everything for you? thats pretty funny.
These bikes are a fuckton of super awesome. Personally speaking anyway. The animations and movements of the biker are pretty slick in an arcadey way. I love the control of them. A way better implementation of bikes I think than pgr4 did and thats my fav racing game of the last year. This may have just knicked the spot.
I like driving the motorbikes. There are a couple of things that annoy me though. No handbreak, no boost, and no smashing the bike to bits when you crash.
Okay, that was three, but #2 isn't that big a deal so it's just a couple of things that annoy me and one that makes me go "eh". I mainly use boost so that I crashes will be more awesome anyway.
After beating the 2-man freeburn challenges with Squirrelz today, I have a furious need to beat more. Friend me (Jaef on PSN) if you haven't already, I'll be on later today to enjoy some fine crashings.
After I gave up playing online due to the constant connection dropping, I tried to beat a few road rules and then went back to the garage. Selecting a car froze the game.
I powered down, powered back on... Same thing. And again. Choosing a car now freezes the game without fail. Choosing a bikes is the only thing that doesn't result in a freeze. The bikes are nice and all, but... this is not.

Ace. When I saw them make a big deal out of how Cagney was free, I figured they'd charge for the next ones.

the bikes are really fun. leaning forward gives you a speed boost which is great. and doing donut wheelies is way more entertaining than it should be.
Hopefully just a coincidence.
