Someone brought up the LOTR swords earlier, and they really are magnificent in an elegant, understated way. Their designs make sense, and even have some very cool features (Anduril's tang seems to become its pommel).
OK those are not "real" swords, but they are in fact "real" pieces of metal that are pretty big and can be made sharp. Sharp or not, if you swing that really hard and hit someone in the neck, it will cause them some medical problems.

that depends on the weapon, really
some of the metals can be sharpened about as much as your typical chef's knife, so yeah, you could hurt someone just as well
some of them can't hold an edge too well so they'd be a glorified bludgeon, and might even break on contact, but the fragments could still potentially cause harm
but i was discussing whether they could be used in a combat situation in which they would make contact with other weapons of similar or superior quality
i apologize if that was unclear, but i thought that was the context of the conversation, maybe i was wrong
Claymores are blunt swords, that is, while they carry an edge you hit people with it on the side and use the weight to carry through.
You don't use them to stab people. As he said, they were too unweildly.
Claymores are actually smaller than other two-handed swords of the era and clock in at about 5 pounds, give or take.
It seems like a very silly idea to me that someone would attempt to smack people with the flat of their sword when actual bludgeoning weapons existed that were well suited to such a task.
On some two handed swords, and I know not if this holds true for claymores, the lower part of the blade would be made unsharpened so you could grip it with two hands and stab quite accurately.

I was not clear sorry.
You do not hit people with the flat of the swords, this is silly yes.
You hit people with the side of the sword, but you know, it's more of a bludgening motion than a stabity stab motion.

He got bitten by Reed and The Thing back in the first issue when they were on the helicarrier.
I really love Glamdring
It's just so pretty

Yeah but if you point it at their head and pull the trigger really hard, nothing happens.
Not that that takes away from how "real" the sword is.
I'd be more inclined to say that the Frostmourne is just a really shitty sword.
Probably he gives you a swirlie.
:^:
I know this is from page 2 but, no, no you did not bludgeon people with a claymore.
/nerd
claymores blow up

Satans..... hints.....
frostmourne is way better than any gay gears of war shit
but i'm really only posting to say that the druid painting doesn't look nearly as good as the rest of his paintings

2) back in the day, every time I was on a plane flipping through the Sky Mall magazines all I did was stare longingly at the LOTR swords
iii) looking at the third panel makes me mouth the first bit of the word "twice" as slowly as humanly possible, thus forming Gabe's facial expression
Unless you are the older brother from Home Alone.

Haha holy shit.
Man, they just don't make people like that anymore.
Because there's a fucking Snoopy game coming out
oh no
oh no
this gave me a mental image of you mouthing the word "twice" to yourself in front of the computer
I laughed
that doesn't look half bad
but then again, trailers rarely do
fixed
and that is pretty much what I am seeing there
Okay the Lancer is pretty cool
The Night Elves have ancient power you cannot begin to comprehend.
Throw down.
oh, I know
frankly I can't see how anyone could fail to catch that
