Food is good, but the Mydenbauer caterers got it all wrong, offering a luncheon more in tune with a business convention than a two-day gamerfest. Spaghetti with marinara and fine garlic bread is not what you serve a herd of hungry gamers. I suggest talking to local merchants about bringing carts or booths to the center and selling food more appropriate to the audience. Examples of stuff that'd be cool:
-A hot dog stand
-Phad Thai (messy, but so damn tasty)
-Pizza (I couldn't believe it. A gamers' convention, and not a single pizza parlour in sight, with the exception of CPK, which don't count.
-Give Subway a heads-up that the Viking Hordes are coming
Oh yeah, and
What I liked about PAX was that you guys didn't try to talk down to us, treat us like clients or children. We were all in it together, and that's the atmosphere that defined the Con. It'll be hard to replicate it, but I'm sure you can pull it off.

Exactly. I felt like I knew what was going on the whole time, and they weren't hiding anything.
When someone stole the PS2, everyone knew about it within like 10 minutes.

Hell yes it is!!!
Shit yeah, they need to setup a full on Italian resteraunt at PAX next year, I want some Baked Raviolis or Chicken Parmesan or something...
Quick summary: The food at PAX '04 was good, bring more of it, but a bigger variety would kick ass.
Right?
Wrong. Real Quick summary: We have some guys who know good food and will want that again but the food at PAX needs more geek/gamer-stereotype ness(=Coffein + Junk Food).

Fine food is fine, and there are plenty of places around Mydenbauer that provide it. Dedicated, actual restaurants the PA crew (our gracious hosts) don't have to spend their money on. Less money spent for catering translates to more money for posters (and associated automated taser defenses), prizes and concerts.
Like I said before, bring in food carts, but let them use the kitchen for prep, and the refrigerators for keeping voluminous quantities of Bawls icy cold.
to those who live in the Seattle area, what are your favorite food carts or restaurants? Let us know so we can look them up!

This is more of a questions post as opposed to "what could be done better" as I didn't get to go.
Moving on, I see that the original PAX'04 webpage is still up and am wondering if most of the panels that are listed will reappear ie. pitch your game idea, penny arcade Q&A(I will kill whoever decides not to have this), game guru Q&A, etc...?
Is it expected that any of the pre-registrants will need to fight their way through a crowd in order to reach the door? did it happen last year?
And now for the big one that probably has no reason for being in this topic thread but is attached to this post for convience sack.
Can you buy Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale in bellevue/seattle?
If not, does anybody know of any problems with buying a 24 up here in canada, putting it in the trunk of a car and driving it across the border? not to give anyone the wrong impression
What is the legal drinking age in washington? In canada it's 19.

1) Probably could find that stuff here...
2) I doubt they'd like 19 year olds bringing alcohol into a place where the drinking age is 21. So...no.
3) Drinking age here is 21. So...do it in private. :^:

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

Wonderful, I'll be 24 when pax hits so I shouldn't have any problems.
i'll second the food idea. There isnt really a whole lot at/near the meydenbaur. We went on a "quest" to find a place to eat, and found maybe 1 ritzy lunch place. If someone could get a taco truck to park outside, all out problems would be answered!
And to moshing being cool? no.
relax kids, your parents do love you, now stop running into me for christ's sake.

Actually, there is plenty of food around, you just need someone who's been in the area to show you where it is.
If you go a bit down the street from the Meydenbauer, probably just a LITTLE bit further than you went before, there's a mall with tons of food stuffs. Red Robin, Cheesecake Factory and a bunch of other places. It's just well disguised...

When I was hungry I generally went to Subway, Dairy Queen, or Matt's Famous Chili Dogs, the 3 closest food places I could find... Also went with a couple other PAXers and hit a nearby Wendy's at 3am...
But yeah, we need more food... That Subway didnt know what was coming and ran out of bread... Red was in line right before me and got the last of it...
i'd like to make a suggestion that can't be implemented this year but possibly the next, if pax could be move back by 2 weeks that would be awesome. the 26-28 is either the first weekend in college or moving in weekend, I am going to try my damndest to get there this year but its going to be hard
Umm just an idea on the food situation... maybe somebody from the area could volunteer to make a little map to show up where all the best food plces are... and then ask Khoo if he can post it on the pax site... or just post it on the fourm.... something like that.. something a bit more detailed than the map they have on the hotel page....
anyways... just my two cents...

Make it so PAX takes place after the 1st of September. I turn 21 then, and I want to drink till my heart explodes. Having it 3-4 days before hand just kills me.
A friend of mine thats going with me said we absolutely had to get some strippers in our room. Anyone know a stip joint in Bellevue where we could acquire said strippers?
