Dawn of War 2 uses GFWL, so to play online you'll need a gamer tag. If you have one for your Xbox, you can use the the same one to log into live.
You can register here: http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US.../livejoin.aspx
You can add friends here: http://live.xbox.com/en-GB/profile/Friends.aspx

Okay, since everyone is complaining about PA DOW2 being full or whatever, READ THIS

The best, fastest, most awesome way to find someone to play is to just log onto vent. There will most likely be some people playing DOW2 already, just find the DOW2 channel (there are several now) and ask if you can join in!

Dawn of War 2 is the sequel of hit RTS game, Dawn of War. Based on the Warhammer 40k and created by hit Company of Hero devs Relic Entertainment, DoW2 promises to be... well... AWESOME.

Taking a step back from many RTS conventions, Relic has scaled back many traditional RTS elements (such as base building and resource gathering) in DoW2 in an effort to stream line the gameplay. Many strategic innovations made in Company of Heroes find themselves in DoW2, complimented with an RPG style inventory system used by the games powerful hero units.

Press feedback to the game's multiplayer and singleplayer remains overwhelmingly positive, promising to make this game one of the best RTS outings to date.

I mean, I think - I hope - it'll play like one of the better Black Library books... but I really, really liked the forces of Destruction campaign. All these changes are kind of pissing me off.

One thing I'm sucking at right now is.. how exactly do I take out a set up gun with the Eldar? I played a techmarine last night and got massacred by heavy bolters and turrets.. I couldn't find a unit that could close that distance without dying and flanking didn't work because of the lay of the land. Warp Spiders still had to get pretty close up in their faces to teleport behind them so they didn't work out..

I actually just noticed this last night, I had termagaunts with warriors with venom cannons and they were knocking guys down. It didn't happen constantly though.

So it might be bugged, but likely they just made an error with the description and forgot to mention you needed warriors with venom cannons.

It seems the tooltips are slightly incorrect.

The warriors grant types of synapse, and those trigger the special abilities.

    Ranged Synapse = termas knockdown

Melee Synapse = hormas start leaping over cover and swarming better

One of the things DoW 2 has caused in my life is to make me want to finish painting my 'nids. I'm terrible at it, but I finished one of my Warriors last night.

It's the colour I'm going to make my in-game nids with the army painter in the official release.

I see your nid and raise you my Salamander space marine. No pic yet. And I only ever finished one. The rest of my squads are all Blood Angels. Nobody here to play table top 40k with :(

    My nids are without number!

(Now I've just got to base them all)

Do not anger them or they will eat off your face!

I'm so happy DoWII has Tyranids.
    those are nice.

I've been struggling to paint Space Wolves, and I think I've finally found a way to wrap my head around painting armor.
it involes me taking a knife to the plastic and destroying them

seriously, I can paint battle damage, grit, wear and tear no problem. Perfectly clean armor? my brain cannot compute that.

I am starting to really like this game. I do wish there were a few more units for each race (though honestly I have only been playing orkz) and that the maps were more exciting and plentiful, but it is still a lot of fun.

I really really hope that the True Skill matchmaking thing starts working correctly. I'd love to play some matched 1v1s, but it seems like for every person I get that is around my own TS (1 in h2h), I get three that are like ranked 30.

Makes me really not want to play 1v1s.

You're also quite good at power weapons from what I've seen. I'm terrible with clean armor too though. It's why my Chaos marines are nurgle worshippers. Don't need to worry about being clean then!

    We're looking into TrueSkill issues.

Hang in there, and remember, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, but what does kill you and pisses you off, makes you, well...dead and pissed off. Not necessarily in that order.

Man, I'd love to learn how to paint minis. On the other hand, I really don't need another hobby that costs hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours a year.

Oh I don't mind losing, but I hate losing when I feel like I am so outclassed that I have no chance. I'll consider doing more when open beta hits (should be lots of other newbs to learn with), but for right now it's just an exercise in 'don't want to play this game' frustration.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of space marines. Managed to whipe out a squad of assault marines with a force commander and scouts.

Also, if you unlock something (in my case, new scout armour) how do you apply it? Or does it apply automatically?

I love killing commanders with scout shotguns. It is the most rewarding thing.
