Music by Machinae Supremacy
Of which the entire soundtrack is available here
But this song's available for download (free) under their webography instead of the JnG Soundtrack, as it was also on their first album.
Edit: Well dang, looking up that JnG stuff, I just discovered that the band also did a remake of the Bionic Commando theme for Capcom. It is classy.
Car issues continue, my pick from NOLF shall come later. *Vigilante 8 non-withstanding
The fan arranged version of the contra 4 soundtrack, tentatively titled "Rocked'n'Loaded," has been in production for the past year. Here's a sneak peek of some of what you'll hear, including slap bass that was never ever meant to actually be played live

Check out his other videos, too. He has an actraiser medley, cyan's theme from ff6, and sonic 3 marble garden. It's a pretty broad range of styles. Actraiser is symphonic metal, sonic is funk, and cyan is some kind of prog.
Ys in general has always had some dang good music and is known for its boss battles, but when they started doing the 3D games a few years ago they decided to combine those two traits and make FUCKING AWESOME boss music alongside the FUCKING AWESOME regular music.
Do note that some of these might revert to lower-quality versions, so follow the links for HQ stuff.
X-posted from the Ys 1+2 thread for anyone who cares:
Holy shit, this month's Dwelling of Duels is an Ys theme. Check back at DoD at the end of the month to see what fucking awesome covers people are going to make from the series. http://dod.vgmix.com/current.php

As someone who as been playing bass for over 9 years I must say that video is both awesome and depressing as it makes me realize what shit I am at bass.

Nah man, don't do that to yourself. It's too easy to recognize the Jaco Pastorious and Fleas of the world and say "fuck, they're so awesome, I must be shit". Just because you're not cream of the crop doesn't mean you can't be really good and do well in the role you need to in a band or whatever it is you're doing. It's just a sobering reminder that there's room to improve when you hear dudes like this.
I played Bass for yeaaaaaaars only to stop after getting out of the military for lack of anything to play or people to play with. Seeing this doesn't make me feel like "man, I sucked", it just makes me feel sad I stopped playing at all.
EDIT: Oh and Victor Wooten, if you needed more awesome. :P
It's probably been posted before: My favourite piece of game music, hands down, has to be the music from the first level of Doom, in all its midi-y glory.
I just saw Video Games Live in Kitchener, Ontario. They played some fantastic music like Halo (see 2 posts up). They also played MOTHERFUCKING CHRONO TRIGGER FOR THE SECOND TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!
Not sure if this one has been posted yet or not (my apologies if it has already), but I rather enjoyed this particular piece from Dawn of War II's soundtrack.

These are quality selections.
I can't stop listening to it!!
The only thing more impressive than the track itself, is that someone actually got far enough to hear it.

This song would get stuck in my head so damn much, and I would usually hesitate to select a character just because I wanted to hear it more.
Oh, and the Volcanic Rim stage in Street Fighter IV has the best music in the whole game.

The Contra 4 soundtrack was done by Jake Kaufman, aka Virt, who has made a lot of excellent music.
Seriously, every song is like a masterpiece.
The first is the one that plays at the start of the video, and the second starts at about 53 seconds in.

I am a sucker for Kazenone from FFCC:
And I really enjoyed, actually, Blizzard's one-off song from WoW: Lament of the Highborne:
Especially great is Rock Anthem For Saving the World.
