"Some reason" as in that's what you read in some poorly-researched, frothing-with-indignance SA post, right
anyway, do you have reason to believe the offending subreddits were created at the very minute subreddit functionality was enabled? Because I strongly suspect they weren't. The whole concept of subreddits didn't really take off until late '09 and '10.

Yes the semantic argument over the exact timeframe in which the subreddits in question have existed has a tremendous influence over whether or not Reddit took too long to shut them down
Also lollin at the idea that it's wrong to be indignant about people jerking off to kids being allowed

Um... yes, it does? Six years is very different from say, six weeks. That's not a semantic difference. Predicating your arguments on materially false statements isn't exactly building a strong a case.

Pretty much the minute somebody said "hey this is a subreddit about jerking off to kids" any amount of time that is greater than "immediately" is too long
Pretty much the minute somebody said "hey this is a subreddit about jerking off to kids" any amount of time that is greater than "immediately" is too long
this is true
I still think it's important to not go around yelling exaggerated secondhand facts about things

This is a fair point
But it doesn't matter if it was six weeks, six months, six years
Anything longer than "right the fuck now" was way too long
Not just from the "this is fucked up" standpoint, now there's an article like the one that I posted that's like "After years of allowing it they finally banned dudes posting pics of teenagers/younger kids to jerk off to"
That shit doesn't really look good, reddit

Well before anything else is said, Tumblr can ban anything they want, for whatever reason they want
As far as their reasons for this specific thing go, that they are against self-harming, self-injury and glorification of medically dangerous eating disorders is fine with me. That article says that they will also be encouraging anyway who does post that stuff to seek professional help, and also give a grace period rather than just instantly banning anyone or anything extremely like that.
Seems like Tumblr are being pretty cool about this. Just my opinion, of course.
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
but where would the internet be without entitled nerds?

Reading this thread I find it hilarious that a hippy like Buttlord thinks it's OK for people with money to 'shame' people they disagree with into silence.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

If this is a serious post
Then it is the first time I have ever seen somone unironically (God how I loathe that word) call someone a "hippy"
I feel that everything before now has been but prologue

But I didn't think anyone said, for example, "get a job, hippy" in any way other than sarcastically
It amuses me greatly to think that somewhere there is someone that will call someone a hippy and mean it as an insult here and now, in the year of 2012.

I dunno if you can call Buttlord a hippy just because of his political views
Surely being a hippy has some connotations of dressing in psychedelically coloured clothes, wearing headbands, naming your child "cosmic rainbow," that sort of thing?

I don't actively post there but there are some entertaining threads
I kind of hate the Games forum, though, so many entitled nerds who hate everything

Not really
