    No, Oxford is fine as far as I'm aware, I'm just letting my Cambridge bias show :) The city itself can be terrible to get into because of traffic, though.

    Cool stuff about living in the UK:

    NHS (don't know if you'd qualify)
    The BBC (if where you're staying has a TV licence)
    Loads of culture available
    History all over the place
    Public services aren't that bad, especially public transport in big cities
    Tasty food no matter what people say, and it's trivial to get pizza, Chinese or Indian in most places
