So hey, as it turns out, I didn't realize that the Forza 3 save is tied to your hard drive's serial number. At least I only lost one day's progress. (And my load times are significantly shorter now!)
another thing I didn't realize is that hacking this hard drive and transferring all my content would be a two-day ordeal where the given instructions almost but not quite worked that would turn me into a gibbering crazy person. But hey, it works now!
Hey, the Premium Theme for the LCE is up, anyone who bought the LCE and entered in that code should get an in-game message from Turn10 with directions.

You may have been able to move your data via a memory card. That's what I did (for FM2) when I did my drive. When I did the backup/transfer via the computer it wouldn't load the save. When I used the memory card it was fine. Had I known I was going to do that I would've saved a lot of time by just formatting and not worrying about transferring the data.

I noticed I'm the only one posting pictures, and when I go into the storefront and search for "penarc", my vinyls are still the only ones coming up. Which begs one of two questions...1) what the fuck have you all been doing with your time these past two days? 2) Is the storefront utterly broken?

I am going to put some decals on the hood of a car. These decals will be related to my current school project, and will somewhat resemble the boring life of a CPU's cache. You will see the terms victim cache, write buffer, set associative, and nothing at all that looks awesome.
Hopefully this will open the floodgates. Because I'm the least artistic guy around, and if I can publish something . . . :-)
Where would this go? I don't just offer the car for auction, I publish a design, right?

I've put a few pictures up. I don't have any decal sets made yet, but I'm toying with the idea of some basic stuff like a PA themed side number plate and other things. I'm not terribly great with the editor though.
So I made a cool mt. dew themed Elise and I decided to add megaman to my Murcielago. Problem is there seems to be a problem with the vinyl editor. If I make a square with size 10 and then make another of the same size which is 10 units to the left, the square on the left covers a little of the one on the right. It's really strange. This happening to any of you? By the way the original square was black while the one on the left was white (not that it should make a difference, but the squares should be lining up anyway).
So I now have over 200,000CR from doing the season stuff. I just use the quick upgrade because I'm a bitch so I'm wondering what do I really use this stuff on? I can buy cars but I'm always worried that it's going to be one that is given to me throughout. Is there a safe for that were they would give me a different car if I already owned it or are the cars given to me not ones for sale? I haven't really looked into that. Is there a list of all the cars given to you within season play?
I remeber reading ages ago that part of the plans for season mode was to let you sell gift cars at a decent price. A real shame they didn't follow through with that, tbh.
So I just lucked out, and someone sold a Bugatti Veyron with a buy-now price of 500k. Bought.
Wow, it looks like I might make my investment back after just two supercar races. Those things pay quite a bit.

FM1 and FM2 had this problem too.. it's a combination of rounding errors and smoothing that makes it happen.
Hate the beginning of the race. Seems my car likes to just rev for a bit (undetermined amount of time) before actually going. No wheel spin, just...like the clutch is open.
Surprise - I opened the diagnostics screen, and it says my clutch is open. I've had this on Automatic, and Manual, and Manual with Clutch.
Can't figure out how to just Go. After the car's moving post 5mph, it never happens in the race again.
Even when you have the game set to automatic, it still simulates as if it's a manual transmission.. just that the game is shifting for you. So that explains why all three modes behave the same.
Huh, I see that one of my opponents in the C class world championship is driving an '06 S204 Impreza so I decide to buy one, only problem is it doesn't show up in the store, what gives?
Stuck at work; might as well post some early impressions. I haven't put as much time into the game as I might have anticipated- I didn't even play it at all last night- but I got a good amount out of it.
DISLIKED:
-I'm hoping this might change the further I get into career mode, but there's nothing I hate more than constantly getting stuck at the back of the starting line, especially when my car's 100+ PI higher than every other car on the track. Double especially on the short and narrow tracks with almost no passing opportunity, triple extra especially on those early races where there's only two laps.
-I had a lot of high hopes for painting mode, and they were mostly met- I'm in the process of making a pretty damn cool cartoon livery that, while not overly complicated, still looks good. That said, why can't I import a manufacturer decal into the canvas for "create a new group" mode? One of the most annoying but necessary things I did in Forza 2 was create my own monochrome/specific-color versions of manufacturer decals (HKS, Sachs, Endless, etc.), which I achieved by blowing up a decal super-huge and then "tracing" shapes over it. I guess I can still do this in standard paint mode, and I also guess I could buy stuff off the storefront, though you can't change the colors of those ones and half of them look like someone just slapped a bunch of Forza fonts together all half-assedly. Speaking of which: all the fonts except for Helvetica suck ass. No decent serif fonts, no Eurostile, no good heavy block fonts that'll look good on the vintage cars, nothin'.
-I have hopes that this'll change soon enough, but yeah, the photos don't look so great due to the compression. They're still miles better than Forza 2, but I doubt I'll be making any desktop images out of them anytime soon.
-Unless I'm doing something wrong, I always have to coordinate my playtime so that I start with something that'll require lots of standard controller use (tuning; painting; photography) and then switch to racing with the wheel at the exclusion of everything else, because for some reason while I'm in the game it won't let me actually disconnect the wheel controller and reconnect the standard controller. If you've tried to reduce one of the more high-number categories in the tuning section using the wheel's D-pad (for instance, changing spring rate from the 700s to the 300s), you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
LIKED:
-Seriously, the ability to throw insane drivetrain swaps into nearly every car (wait'll you guys get a load of my "914WD"; thing handles like a Lotus) is one of the most ridiculous and fun things I've ever been able to do in a racing game. I know this was in Forza 2, but by separating engines and drivetrains they've made it exponentially more rife with potential hilarity.
-The Benchmark Ring. This thing's gonna make real-time tuning adjustments and telemetry examination a hell of a lot easier.
-Tite Grafix. Everyone's already gone over this, but it's nice to have a game that looks this good at 60FPS (the games everyone always unfavorably compares FM3 to are all 30 FPS- and have significantly fewer cars). I especially get geeked at knowing that the designs I make in the livery editor will actually scale smoothly and look really nice in Photomode- as far as I can tell, gnarled and jaggy decals are a thing of the past there.
-Wheel control. I hadn't really used the wheel with any games until I bought mine about a month ago, and I tried it with varying levels of success on Midnight Club LA (weaving through traffic = 10x harder), PGR4 (handling seemed smooth but forget about powersliding) and the demo for NFS: Shift (uuuuugh). Forza 3 is, without a doubt, the MS wheel's killer app. Driving actually feels twice as tense and fun, even on my hinky makeshift shelf/stand.
-Pretty much everything else, really. (Haven't gone online yet, but we'll see how that pans out.)
Every race I've done in career has started me in 8th place and its annoying for all the reasons you mentioned. Can anyone confirm that this changes in some races?
Apparently you get moved towards the front of the grid as you level up. I saw some people talking about this, at least.
I don't have the game yet. I will tomorrow.
I haven't progressed too far in Forza 3 yet, but I know in Forza 2 it's all dependant on car rating - the higher ranked cars are placed farther up. Always hilarious to see a B ranked car at the front of a D racing field.

Yeah, me too. Does anyone know how to do this? If I shut off the wheel using "turn off controller" or just unplug it or whatever, the wireless controller that I then switch always goes into slot #2. If I switch on another one it goes into slot #3. I can't seem to deactivate the wheel without just starting over.
FM2 used to let you switch controllers by completely unplugging the wheel (turning off the controller didn't work for some reason) and then powering up your normal controller.
To go the other way, pop the battery out of the controller and plug in the wheel.
Really gonna annoy me if that doesn't work anymore.

I think I tried unplugging it first once and that didn't work. The only way I could switch from using a wheel back to the controller was exiting to the dashboard, then powering the wheel off/turning the controller on. I love the hell out of the wheel but I'm starting to wonder if the tradeoff's worth it.

I mentioned this in the old thread. I was pretty fucking annoyed when I learned the truth. It's bullshit that they would say they were doing it and then just...not.

I'm saying you should PM me when you start and I'll point out some of the bear traps I had to learn the hard way.

Picked the Fiesta for my starting car this time, I really like it.
Not really, you get gifted the Veyron at Level 30...
FM1 and FM2 had this problem too.. it's a combination of rounding errors and smoothing that makes it happen.
Put an RS200 engine and an RWD drivetrain in my Fiesta, added a weight reduction upgrade and it ended up with a 600 PI.
It's not best car but I'll be damned if it's not fun.
is it possible to make the Civette? because that would be so awesome if i could...
for those that dont know
I'm back from Dallas and I'm heading to pick up my copy in a bit.
