Obama needs to run an ad showing a bunch of people from different walks of life and their effective tax rate right now, their effective tax rate under Obama, and their effective tax rate under Mitt Romney.
You could show a school teacher, a construction worker, a firefighter, a soldier, and end with Mitt Romney.

Man, I do not make a lot of money, and I have 25% of my taxes come out of my paycheck, and I most definitely do not get it all back on my tax return. I imagine most Americans are in analogous situations. How are people not utterly fucking irate that Mitt Romney, multi-millionaire, pays half (or less? who really knows?) of what normal people do? All that extra money he has, it just sits around and does jack shit in Switzerland and the Caymans. I keep hearing how the rich invest that money to create jobs, but I feel almost ignorant saying "I'm not buying it."
It feels like the money pool is shrinking, as more and more wealth concentrates in the hands of a few, and then those few have no use for that wealth and they just hide it away and USE IT TO KEEP SCORE.

It feels that way because it is that way. I can't remember are social security and medicare factored into most americans tax rates? Because I swear thats another expense the middle class pays into that is a lot more of a burden than it is to rich people.

This would be an amazing ad. Imagine the camera is just panning across people walking on a busy street, or cutting from one locale to the next, over their heads there is an occupation and number (number being the tax rate they pay) as they go about their day. The camera cuts progressively show wealthier and wealthier people and we can clearly see the numbers getting smaller and smaller until it ends with Mitt Romney.
Would be quite the powerful ad I think. You could even do a blue/red number for the rate under Obama vs Romney for a good contrast.

Because he is a job creator, and he deserves the lowest tax rate he can get, so that he can create more jobs.
Wait Paul Ryan is married to a Lobbyist? FUCKING SERIOUSLY?
This shit still surprises you? Everyone is married to everyone. It's like the fucking royal families of Europe. They're lucky their blood can still clot.
I just didn't think Ryan could be a bigger asshole, but the fact that he's from the party of "Obama talked to a lobbyist once that means he's the devil" and their VP pick is fucking married to one.
Hell Romney pounded Gingrich in their primary over being a registered one for Freddie Mac.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Ryan forgot to disclose the trust his wife got when her mother died in 2010. He's considerably richer than he told Congress. Oops.
since the trust is probably not an attempt to generate quid-pro-quo from beyond the grave (zombies need jobs!) it probably falls into normal congressional shenanigans.
Which is what the last paragraph of the article cited mentions.
"How are you going to play Dota if your fingers and bitten off? You can't. That's how" -> Carnarvon
"You can be yodeling bear without spending a dime if you get lucky." -> reVerse
"In the grim darkness of the future, we will all be nurses catering to the whims of terrible old people." -> Hacksaw
"In fact, our whole society will be oriented around caring for one very decrepit, very old man on total life support." -> SKFM
I mean, the first time I met a non-white person was when this Vietnamese kid tried to break my legs but that was entirely fair because he was a centreback, not because he was a subhuman beast in some zoo ->yotes

Obama could lock down the married male vote by a cleverly staged appearance with Michelle. "The guy's married to a lobbyist! You know who makes his decisions. Do you hear me guys? You with me?" and then she drags him off the microphone by the ear and takes over the rest of the speech. Then we are all one, brothers in arms, standing proudly until the wives get back from the store. Shit I think I hear the car.
The Obama campaign had no comment on Murty's T-shirt.
But the Romney campaign seized on the moment, circulating pictures that reporters had tweeted of Murty with his controversial T-shirt. “Mr. President, please stay another day!” the Romney campaign e-mail said.
Jesus the Romney camp is made up of douchebags.

It was a reference to a remark Obama made several weeks ago that his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, has seized upon to portray Obama as anti-business. Obama, referring to the help government provides to businesses by building roads and providing education and other services, said, “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that."
Good job just matter-of-factly stating that, Washington Post, and not bothering to quote the entire fucking statement for context, you piece of shit!

It depends who's reporting the tax rates.
If you make under 6 figures, your payroll tax (social security+medicare) is 15.3% of your salary starting from the first dollar (although currently there's a payroll tax holiday that reduces it to 13.3%). This is split between you and your employer. Your federal income tax is a progressive tax on top of that and can change because of deductions, tax credits, and other adjustments. And then there's usually state income taxes and sales taxes and such.
When Republicans say that 47% of people pay no taxes, they're referring specifically to federal income tax only, after deductions and tax credits. The working poor absolutely pay, at minimum, the payroll tax.
edit: More accurate is a person's effective tax rate, which is the average rate they pay across all their income (including short term capital gains and such), including payroll tax, federal income tax, tax credits and other adjustments. Sometimes this includes state taxes and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes there's an effort to include sales taxes in this as well but that is much harder to calculate. It's possible for a working poor person to have an effective rate below the payroll tax rate because of income tax credits.

What kind of shitty catering agrees to do a job and then trolls the people paying him?
Have you met people who vote republican before? This is exactly the kind of thing they do. There's another story today about a virginia bakery that turned down Joe Biden because of "You didn't build that." Though they were hoping for and probably got a Chik Fil A boost.

Well canceling a catering contracts costs the company money if its done late in the game. And if done for a political viewpoint it would be seen as extremely petty, which the press wouldn't care if Mitt Romney did, but if Obama did it, well we'd have an election problem.

Listening to everything coming out of the Romney campaign lately, I have to say I'm very disappointed in Romney for having such a lack of creativity. I mean, if you're going to brazenly lie about shit, do it with some panache.
"I never paid lower than 13% in taxes"? Fuck that, go with "I paid at least 50% every damned year and I even added a 15% gratuity because that's the sort of stand-up guy I am."
"Obama's Medicare plan cuts services by $700B while nothing changes under mine"? Laaaaame. Try: "Under Obama's plan, services are cut by 136%. He cuts services so much he will actually storm your retirement home and force you to provide health care services for illegal Kenyan Muslims. Meanwhile, my Medicare plan cures cancer and requires your children to call you at least twice a week and listen intently while you bitch about the decline in quality of your tapioca pudding and how the Sunday funnies were so much better when you were a kid."

Reid's still not backing down, despite Chris Cilizza's strongest urges
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office still isn't buying Mitt Romney's latest claim that he paid at least 13 percent in taxes every year for the past decade. Reid's response is the same one every Democrat ought to be giving on the subject. Prove it:
"We'll believe it when we see it,” Reid’s spokesman, Adam Jentleson, said Thursday. “Until Mitt Romney releases his tax returns, Americans will continue to wonder what he's hiding. Romney seems to think he plays by a different set of rules than every other presidential candidate for the last thirty years, all of whom lived up to the standard of transparency set by Mitt Romney's father and released their tax returns."
You don't understand, there are people out there that just gotta get a dig in whenever they can. It's like a tiny victory for them whenever they can slip jabs into conversations. I know someone who can't just say a woman is unattractive, she's "uglier than Nasty Pelosi".
This was just a way to do it on a larger scale. He's a nobody, his shirt doesn't mean shit.
Like the guy said it's about business. No need to politicize your catering.
Also cancelling or not awarding contracts to people because of their political views is the exact opposite side of the coin from the accusation that you show favoritism towards supporters. It's kind of a dangerous road to venture too far down as a political candidate.
Unless we're talking about union shops versus non-union shops, which is a different can of worms.
Honestly the guy should have been sent home for looking like a damn slob in that shirt though. Buddy you're catering for a presidential campaign not watching your triple A baseball team lose.

That should probably get mentioned more often.
Look, we can't prove that this is socialism so the burden of proof lies with the Democrats to prove that it isn't.
