The International Astronomical Union names all mountains on Saturn's moon Titan after mountains in Tolkien's work.

    That is super cool.

coincidentally i just was listening to a podcast where john hodgeman came on to argue that nostalgia is a toxic and useless emotion, or at best a soothing drug, and like all drugs should be used with moderation

My less than perfect game from childhood that I don't particularly CARE is less than perfect is Legend of Dragoon. You could list any ten of the flaws in that game, I would agree with every word you said, but still respond "Unh, unh, unh-unh-UNH-UNH! Gust of wind dance!"

I loved the game and played it to death and am scratching my head over why anyone would be excited for it beyond nostalgia.

I mean, I get nostalgia, I do, I feel it for the game myself, but I cannot scrape up enthusiasm for a remake of something that awed me at the time but feels childishly incompetent in important ways now.

I really hope in KHIII they keep the ability system from Birth By Sleep and don't go back to the menu system of KHI and KHII

They've made improvements to the gameplay with all the other side games and the menu I've seen in KHIII seems like a clunky step back

I liked being able to limit myself to a set amount of ability slots and mix/match abilities, magic and healing with reload times, it made the basic hack and slashery more strategic

I totally get nostalgia but like

You could have spent most of the last like 20 years playing FF7 on a variety of systems

    why be excited about that?

I get why they would do a FF7 remake. Not sure who wanted all the others though.

Well, I've never played it, so I might check it out when it's eventually released.
It might be nice to see what all the fuss is about without having to put up with the mess that is early 3D Playstation graphics.

Forget female Ghostbusters, action-rpgs are the true childhood killer.
