The past few years have not been good to the Kingdom of Shu. Since the death of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, the citizens of Shu have struggled both in battles and socially. They fought on however because they believed in their Emperor and he was finally beginning to turn around. He made taxes lower and provided land to people who were in need. However this blessing upon the Shu kingdom was short lived, as in 228 A.D., Emperor Ling was found dead. The citizens of Shu went into despair, but continued to press on. They elected a new leader but decided to keep the name a secret.
The other kingdoms didn’t fare much better. Gan Ning of the Wu clan was discovered by his maid one morning with his throat slit open. The amount of assassinations that were happening in the clans led to an increased paranoia in all of China. The hunt for spies accelerated in the Wei clan. The citizens of Wei were suspicious of Kingmole and sent their army to interrogate him; however, he was discovered to have been assassinated as well. The army then decided to go after another person who they had suspicion of, Exarch. They searched through his home and found him hiding in a closet; They tortured Exarch until he finally admitted to have committed treason against the Wei and to have sided with the Wu. He was executed the next day.
The first thing the new Emperor of Shu did when he took power was to find a scapegoat to get the citizens of China to rally around. He was told that TheLawinator was someone who most people hated, however as he was sending his personal army to TheLawinator’s home, he received a message from Sun Quan asking to veto the vote. The Emperor decided to go after another person who people hated, Ryadic, but when they arrived at his home, he was found dead. Finally Ling heard whispers of dislike for eecc, and he sent his army to his house. He was found alive and executed in the middle of the capital city by Guillotine. It turned out that eecc was the Wei leader and the Wei had to elect a new leader, as with the other clans they kept this name close to their heart as assassination attempts have been on the rise. The Kingdoms are wearing thin and it seems that an end may be in sight.

oooooOOOOOoooooOO
Awww crap. As soon as I saw that I missed vote close, I knew this would happen.
The replacement for Emperor Ling was not prepared for the situation at all; he was young, easily influenced, and corrupted. Dong Zhuo took advantage of this by convincing the new Emperor to give Dong his army back. Dong told the Emperor that he would use this army to reunite China. However he failed to mention which Kingdom he would support with his new army. Dong decided to side with the Wu and with Dong’s newly acquired army the Wu kingdom began to conquer the remaining defenseless provinces. Dong caught wind that his apprentice Lu Bu was planning to kill Dong in his sleep and a paranoid Dong decided to kill Lu Bu before he could even try.
The Shu and Wei Kingdoms were crumbling to the Wu’s campaign. The Shu leader and the Wei leader met on the border between the two kingdoms at a fort in the Central Plains. They united their army together for one final stand. They set up multiple defenses at the front gates against the Wu and were sure they were going to win. What they didn’t plan was that Jiang Wei, the chief strategist for the Shu had committed treason and was now siding with the Wu. Jiang Wei dug a tunnel that went from the cellar of the fort to a cave where the Wu were hiding. The Wu snuck into the fort in the middle of the night and murdered everyone while they were sleeping and defenseless. The remaining members of Shu and Wei conceded and pronounced Sun Quan to be the new leader of China.
News of Sun Quan becoming the new leader of China spread quickly, and many people were overzealous that the fighting was finally over. Sun Quan, as he promised he would, immediately repealed all taxes, removed the Eunuchs from office, and created communes for those too poor to afford land. Zuo Ci went into the capital city and asked that his end of the bargain be fulfilled. Sun Quan obliged and demanded that each citizen of China be well versed in the Taoist teachings. The period known as the War of the Three Kingdoms was finally over, and China’s peace has been restored.

Wu takes over China and are declared the winners. Please post in the Wu thread for end game discussion.
Urgh. If only I had been able to throw that magenta vote on to someone else, then Wu would've tasted 3 vig kills/night. Especially on Nion, who I suspected was the leader. But that's not the way it turned out, and you guys won.
Well done!
Edit: Thanks azn for running this! It was crazy fun!
I'd like to see what my fellow Wu were up to, and what Wei was doing after I got locked out of it.
EDIT: By the way, the anonymous note that Trust and I got to send, was sent as an in character spam message to enlightenedbum when I thought I was almost certainly going to die. Also because Trust and I really couldn't figure out what to send that wouldn't have been immediately distrusted.

...Say, now that the game's over, what power would Liu Shan have had, had he not been tortured?

Well, an interesting game, and an interesting system. Sun Quan and Gan Ning were pretty crazy with their powers, and it's too bad that Shu and Wei didn't gang up on them like I was hoping.
I want to remind everyone that I had a disclaimer that the game may not have been balanced. Looking back, I think overall the game was decently balanced. Yes Sun Quan and Gan Ning were very strong, but Wu had no vigilantes and no guards, compared to Wei who had tons of kills and Shu who had tons of survivability.
There were many decisions that could have changed the course of the game (people not converting, different alliances, different vigilante kill targets, etc) and I believe that each side did indeed have a chance at winning.
Infidel, had you killed Evilbob before tonight, you probably would have won as there would have been no more vigilante kills to take you out (aside from the Wu leader dying ability).
I hope you all had fun, and thanks a lot for playing my first hosted phalla, it was a great experience and I hope to do it again sometime. If you have any questions/comments/gripes feel free to post them now .
P.S. Favorite Moment: Last night when Nion veto'd the vote 2 days in advance off of a Shu member onto Ryadic. However Ryadic was killed and it trickled down and took out eecc. Had eecc survived, Wei had a decent chance of winning tonight.
There was no way for Shu to win after 3 days ago. We had lost all our vigs and we only had 1 person who could guard. At that point I basically gave up.
Fuck you, Nion. You win "most broken game mechanic" award.
The Gan Ning vote-block was brutal as well, we knew about Exarch but couldn't red vote him because Gan Ning would block it and we'd have shown our hand for nothing.

Exarch, you killed Cao Cao right?
No... that was me.
The Sima family was a masoned group with 1 vig kill/night which we never told anyone about.
By killing Cao Cao, we get another vig kill (which we did tell you about).
By being appointed commander in chief, I got another vig kill (also told you about).
Edit: Killing Cao Cao was an additional part of our victory condition, in addition to making Wei win.
I don't think the vetos were that broken. Sure at face value they were, but if you look at the grand scheme of Shu vs Wei vs Wu, they didn't have much outside of it. Disheartening certainly, but as a whole the Wu team had only the vote to kill people and to take out specials. (Until CICs and Dong Zhuo gained his kill). If you wanted, you could have just vigilante killed the top target if it was Wu, or the spies being protected by Gan Ning.
I purposely made their ability public and highlighted their names in red to make it known which kingdom was influencing the outcomes that way. Since their ability was publicly known as opposed to Shu and Wei's private abilities, I planned on them taking a brunt of the kills, at least until Sun Quan was found. Thus I added the Council and Syndicate for Wu to be able to come back in the end.
If you think about the Sun Quan veto as Wu's one and only vig kill (which was partially controlled by the other two factions), the appearance of brokeness lessens.
