Death of Cao Cao – 220 A.D. Cao Cao discovered dead by his bodyguards
The fighting between the kingdoms continued. Cao Cao was planning his next attack in the city of Luoyang, when he was found dead by his bodyguards. Dian Wei, Cao Cao’s personal bodyguard, could not believe the sight he saw. He knew that he secured the perimeter and that no assassins would have been able to make it inside Cao Cao’s castle, let alone into his bedroom. Dian Wei noticed that there was a cup of tea shattered on the ground, and immediately knew Cao Cao was poisoned. Dian Wei announced to all the witnesses “The perimeter was secure, there was no way Shu or Wu could have made it inside our kingdom, this had to have been committed by one of our own people. Not only is it someone from Wei but it had to have been someone Cao Cao trusted enough to not inform me about their meeting. Something sinister is afoot.” Dian Wei searched through Cao Cao’s will for the next leader, which the Wei clan decided to keep secret for the leaders of the various clans are very high profile and being targeted for death.
Elsewhere, in the Kingdom of Wu, a traitor was found amidst its population and was promptly executed. The Kingdom was overjoyed, but not for long, the next day the Wu commander in chief was found dead with an arrow through his heart, his neck sliced open, and his head bashed in. It was quite a gruesome sight for all to bear. In the Kingdom of Shu, Emperor Ling once again decided to execute the most hated person in all of China as a way of uniting the nations. This proved to back fire when the majority opinion was for Liu Bei. Liu Bei was one of the Emperor’s most trusted warriors and it was painful for him to send his army to Liu Bei’s home. Liu Bei was found dead, the cause was some sort of chronic illness that finally got the better of him. Liu Bei's brothers, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei heard the news and went into great despair. Emperor Ling then sent his army after the second place opinion, Mr. Defecation. Mr. Defecation was crushed by a giant boulder for all of China to see. Important officials were dying in all kingdoms, perhaps this shift in power will allow the war to finally come to an end.
