Zhang Fei, Liu Bei, and Guan Yu declaring their Oath
The tale of Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu, begins in the town of Zhuo in 188 A.D. Guan Yu was manning a red bean stand when Zhang Fei accused him of selling rotten red beans. The two got into a fight and many spectators began watching. Guan Yu was clearly winning when Liu Bei jumped in and stopped the fight, saving Zhang Fei. Zhang Fei invited the two over to his house for a drink to show his thanks and forgiveness. While drinking, the three citizens found that they had the same goal in mind, to organize a militia to stop the Yellow Turbans and the other rebellions that were happening. They swore to be brothers amongst Zhang Fei’s peach garden, each reciting the following:
“When saying the names Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu, although the surnames are different, yet we have come together as brothers. From this day forward, we shall join forces for a common purpose, and come to each other's aid in times of crisis. We shall avenge the nation from above, and pacify the citizenry from below. We seek not to be born on the same day, in the same month and in the same year. We merely hope to die on the same day, in the same month and in the same year. May the gods of heaven and earth attest to what is in our hearts. If we should ever do anything to betray our friendship, may the gods in heaven strike us dead.”
Through the next years, the brothers fought to protect each other and the nation of Shu, preventing each other from dying many times. That was until 223 A.D. when Liu Bei died of a chronic illness that finally overtook him. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were in much mourning, and decided that it was time for them to fulfill their Oath, but not before taking Sima Yi and a Monk with them.
The fighting continued in the other nations and all throughout China, person after person discovered dead. The nations were getting weaker and weaker, with less and less commanders and leaders to lead the armies themselves. The Emperor tried to keep the citizens in good spirits by having another public execution. He sent his army for Ryadic, but before he could, he received a letter from Sun Quan asking him to veto the first opinion. The Emperor did and decided to go after the second opinion Plutonium, but Plutonium and his brother Last Son were found dead with their own blades in their hearts. He finally went after DamnedLibrarian and although he wasn’t the first choice, it was enough to appease the blood hungry citizens of China. The supporters of each nation are getting thinner and thinner, perhaps one of the nations will soon unite China.
