As for some good anime examples, FLCL and Haruhi obviously come to mind. Code Geass maybe, although I'm not sure about that. Eureka 7. Host Club. Gundam 0080.
What,
Wizarmon's death, and Hikari and Tailmon's Character Dev.
was where Adventure really came into it's own and established Digimon as a really great series.
a) I don't think even PikaPuff will care if we spoil fucking Digimon.
b) Character A dies which causes Character B to become stronger and/or Badguy C to switch sides is like the Middle School Algebra of storyline. It could have been written by a two year old.

Speaking of Cowboy Bebop, I remember they put out a special edition box set with a bonus CD soundtrack. One track was Yoko Kanno playing a medley of Bebop songs on the piano, live.
God, I still love her piano version of Elm (I'm pretty sure that's the classical-style guitar one with the dude singing).
And what about Adult Swim Bleach? Good God, I want this Bount shit to end, why won't it end!?
Worse yet, is there anything that carries over from this arc that I'll have to be aware of? Becuase I've been skipping it the whole time.
Rukia stayed behind when the Soul Society arc ended, but she returned in the Bount filler. How did the manga handle this? Did she stay behind originally, too?
If memory serves, since a friend of mine is watching the dub, you've got 9 more episodes, give or take.
She stayed behind originally in the manga. If anything, the anime filler kinda cheapens her return.
Jesus Christ, this almost feels as long as the Naruto filler, and that should be impossible.
I thought the Bount arc was somewhat redeemed by the Bounts being motherfucking Stand users.
The Mayuri vs. Old Guy with a Whale fight was a straight-up homage to JJBA. It played out somewhat similarly to Polnareff's fight with Vanilla Ice in Part 3, except when Mayuri got chunks of his body eaten, he's just all 'meh, superscience' and regenerated them with an injection.
Huh, I hadn't thought of it like that, but I guess it's true. Still pretty horrible filler though, my favorite part is the background music with spooky voices saying "EEEEVIL! DAAAARKNESS!" over and over again.
Yeah, the one saving grace is that the music in the filler arc happens to be surprisingly good, especially this song:
Bebop is still in my top 5 favorite animes ever. I really need to find the remixed version, sometime. I've only heard it in English, though, and I'm afraid the Japanese voices just won't be the same...

That was kinda late into Vamdemon arc, though.
What about the awesome first instance of Adventure's beard growing? Taichi's character developement at the start of the Vamdemon arc? where they bumped up the animation to make it more dramatic.
Digimon is maybe the only production in the entire history of cross culture show exchanges where the new product is better than the original. The dub for digimon is the fully realized product whose breadth and scope far exceeds the intentions of the original designers.

Bullshit. Haim Saban and Jeff Nimoy are incredible hacks. theyr eplaced the music with the most bland shit ever. the original score was so much better. you do NOT replace the fucking Bolero with regurgitated music from the horrid Masked Rider US.
The dub was just terribad and campy beyond belief to make it more like Pokemon. despite having a few good VAs.

Since you aren't going to figure it out on your own, let me spell it out for you: You are being trolled. This would be the point where a sane person starts disregarding the troll's posts.
And I don't know if you got that guys PMs, but we figured out which MS it was. That was an incredibly small figurine.

I actually do have a fond place in my heart for the digimon dub. It's the campy in jokes.
Saban's poor decision making and sloopy writing is what gets me
"We won't hide the fact the series takes place in Japan, but we are going to arbitrily change things to be more Armerican! Like, instead of Hikari not saying much to add to the atmosphere in the original version of the Cthulu episode in Adventure 02, she's going to say some of the worst dub lines ever! Including a reference to the National Guard."
Seriously, some of that dialogue was so terrible, I've heard better scriptwriting in Power Rangers, and not after it improved, old era Power Rangers.
The phrase now describes an article or review where you can tell that the person writing it knows NOTHING about the subject they are discussing just by reading the first couple sentences, or even the title.

I've been working my way through Moonlight Mile, and I realized I had watched and abandoned the first ep years ago. It starts out well with a hard sci-fi setting, and then BAM, Gundams on the Moon. Then there is the absurd OP animation replete with Star Wars style space battles.
However, once I got past that I was pleasantly surprised to find a Planetes-like story about semi-realistic space exploration. An entire episode focuses on stopping a slight rotation in an ISS module, for instance. It even features conflict in the middle east due to H3 production on the moon. And a surprising amount of sex.
The art is not great (characters are rather ugly, but it fits), and it might go in a ridiculous direction later in the series, but for the first 4 eps at least it has been quite good.
Isn't that all weird porn where five year olds are raped by squids?
You just reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend (who's also into anime).
Me: lol tentacles (I can't remember exactly what we were talking about at that moment)
Him: What's so funny about tentacles?
Me: Huh? Don't you know what tentacles are often used for?
Him: Well, octopi have them. Squids too.

That reminds me of a time I once described a certain squeal of joy's pitch as being similar to "a 6 year-old girl, freshly violated by tentacles".
I may or may not be a terrible person, but goddamn my friends laughed at that one.
Yes, you do. And I've reached the halfway point of Moonlight Mile and it's getting really good. The first EVA scene was fantastic. I really hope it doesn't go in the direction suggested by the OP. Plus, Russian strippers.
I haven't found any sign of a release date. If they do it with Russian and German dialogue (the trailer suggests Russian is in, at the very least) instead of Japanese it will be epic (imo).
Is there really a significant difference between digimon and pokemon?
I mean... well... they're all -mon.

EXCEL SAGA is starting to get really good. Most of their genre parodies are spot on, especially the various anime ones.
