Speaking of, I am super pissed that my protomen shit got wrecked by the tornado.

I lost my Act II posterboard that was signed by the cast and the CD with all the liner notes in it.

Act 3? Finally! Been waiting for this one.

Remember, it's not all of Act III, just the first two singles. I saw someone on Instagram saying that August 14 was the Act III Release Show, and they are going to be extremely disappointed when they realize.

That being said, they started off the show in Asheville last night with "This City Made Us," and holy shit. Worth the wait, guys. I like it better than Hold Back the Night.

So I'm finally looking at my vinyl of the covers album because my parents were keeping it at their house while I was away

And of course this one also has a concept, that being that Joe from Act II's father was a filmmaker who was working on an expose of Wily's rise to power, but disguised it as a big 80's action movie to deflect suspicion, but then the movie was banned and Joe Sr. disappeared and the soundtrack is the only thing that remains of the project

So I figured I'd check and yep, there's an insert with this text:
Some years ago, the Sound Machine label got its start when it produced a soundtrack for a film that only a few people ever actually saw in its completed form. It was titled The Cover Up. This film, born of a collaboration between veteran producer Edward Paré and up-and-coming director Joseph Wilson, never saw its release date. While the reasons for the sudden termination of the project remain something of a mystery, it's clear that this film was something important.

Wilson had tapped The Protomen, a relatively obscure band at the time, to bring the soundtrack and score to life. Sadly, that soundtrack would be the only piece of the project to survive a series of strange and unsettling events.

Since our reopening ten years ago, we've spent a great deal of time and effort trying to understand what happened to both the film and to the people who created it. Unfortunately, little more than rumor and speculation remain, as even those who were there can't tell us with any certainty what happened. We do know that many of those involved simply disappeared, with members of the main cast vanishing in the middle of new projects, Wilson suddenly leaving behind a wife and seven year old child, and Paré's next production simply dying on the vine.

While The Cover Up never made it to theaters, Sound Machine did release the soundtrack in the months leading up to the film's anticipated release date. Copies of its limited initial pressing are almost nonexistent these days and invariably are in unlistenable condition. However, nearly five years ago, through a series of fortunate events, portions of the master reels, once thought to be destroyed, were recovered. The soundtrack's original artists, and our dear friends, The Protomen, have dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and energy to restoring and reengineering the music you are about to hear.

This soundtrack may be the only remaining glimpse of a work of fiction that tread so close to the truth that its creators must have ultimately paid a terrible price. While it's only a piece of their story, and much is still left unresolved, we thought you needed to hear it.

I hadn't ever heard The Trooper before I listened to the covers album, so I didnt even question those lyrics. "Iron Maiden sang a song about robots? Sure, whatever, that makes sense."

Yes, I know; I am the worst Protomen fan.

I have always been a little miffed at their obsession with vinyl and physical liner notes.

That said, I lost both my Act II CD and my signed Act II poster in the tornado a few years back. If anybody is feeling generous and is headed to a show...maybe tell them and see if you can procure some replacements?

    It's funny

They talked about how they would look into maybe getting into rock band if they ever added a keyboard

And then they added a keyboard

And they're not in the game until the keyboard has been taken back out
