So I finally picked this up and imported my level 50 paragon shepard (about as goody two-shoes as a shepard can get). Love the game, LOVE IT.
But, as you can expect of a game with this epic a scale, I has questions:
1. Are loyalty missions timed? Do they have any limitations that I should know about? I don't want to do Jacob's if it means I'll have to sacrifice another crewmate's loyalty mission, that is. I want to do all of them if possible.
2. I'm aware that I have to choose one lady to do the horizontal mambo with eventually, but can I still flirt with all of them? Or will I run into situations like in ME1 where the ladies confront me directly and make me choose? I don't want to keep being my usual nice guy self to Yeoman Kelly if it means Miranda or one of the others is going to tell me to screw off.
3. The most recent plot related thing I've done is
recruit Tali
I've been worried however that like in ME1, the unlocking of your crewmates' backstory and loyalty missions (and romancing options) are dependant on how much of the game you spend with them as your squadmate. Is this the case for ME2?
I think that covers the important bits. I wish I wasn't so much of a completionist when it comes to open RPGs like this and fallout 3. I spent 5 hours last night probing planets for minerals, and I only covered like 4 star systems. I have over 230k iridium and palladium though!
There are a couple moments where the renegade option is nearly evil though. Mainly
Killing Samara to take Morinth. I was pretty shocked that I even had that option when it came up. Also to a lesser degree, letting the factory workers die on Zaeed's mission, and shooting Conrad Verner in the foot.
And to the post above:
1: No. You can do them all. Just make sure to do them before the very obvious point of no return.
2: You can flirt with all of them, but you can only choose one to be with. Once you get to nearly the "end" of a relationship, the other characters will realize it and won't let you progress their relationship further unless you break it off with the other.
3: It makes no difference who you use on your team. Don't feel the need to use Tali in all your missions if you want to romance her, for example. Or any missions for that matter.

I'm looking forward to this option in my renegade run. Her code annoys the hell out of me, that is way too strict.

I'm actually rather looking forward in ME3 to rubbing it in the original Council's face that I took the ending renegade option.
Oh yeah, that massive stockpile of "Reaper" technology that isn't supposed to exist? I gave it to a human supremacist group. So jog on Turian Councilor!
After seeing how the council
hasn't changed one fucking iota after I saved their ass from being destroyed by a fucking Reaper that they could see with their own eyes, I've resolved to never save their ass in ME1 ever again. Fuck those assholes.
Also if you accidentally romance Jack, but break it off by telling her if she can't be normal you don't want her, does she ever stop telling you to "Fuck off"?
She's still loyal, but it would be nice not to be told to "fuck off" every time I try to talk to her.
I think a Renegade run is best done the second time you play the game. When you know which interrupt options are badass, and which are just plain mean.

My roommate and I were talking about what we call the symbols in the Hacking Memory minigame you have to do.
There's the
C: C with a circle around it
Bar: horizontal bar, roommate calls it a battery
Foot: vertical line with two small lines branching off the top, roommate calls it a tower, I call it a foot because it looks like it could be an alien/chicken foot
Bridge: two vertical lines, each with a small horizontal line protruding, roommate calls it a push because I guess they look like they are pushing togther?
Arrow: several horizontal lines stacked on top of each other, going from longest on top to shortest on bottom, with a small vertical line on the top, roommate calls it a top
We just thought it was interesting what we called the symbols to remember them by to make the hacking game easier
Also, trying to introduce new content to ME thread

Oh god my nerd is about to show but I would call those by their electrical circuit names, resistor, capacitor, ground. The one that looked like a C with a circle around it looked to me mostly like a transistor symbol.
My husband made fun of me every time I would do that mini game because I was constantly muttering those terms and sounding like a huge nerd.

But... she has a great rack!
She really doesn't though. She just shows off what she's got, that's all.
I did like that one Cerberus report on the main menu about how a Spectre shot and killed 4 people for trading sensitive council economic data, and that she called the operation a complete success.
Seems like Spectres have a habit of trigger happy behavior
I'd like to think she divided the group through dialog options and never actually fired a shot. She just convinced some to betray the others and let things fall.
Six members of a group calling itself TruthHax has been arrested for the illegal uploading of sensitive economic data from the Citadel Council. An additional four members of the group were shot to death in what appears to be an internal struggle. Tela Vasir, the Spectre assigned to the case, had no comment on her role in these matters, saying only that she considers the case resolved and is pleased with the rapid results.
Obviously very open to interpretation.
EDIT: Oh shit, hold on. Are the news reports we get like just a big rss aggregation feed or is it that we're seeing reports from actual Cerberus operatives? Because that is very different.

You know what I just realized? Zaeed isn't Jayne, or Ordo, or British Wrex.
He's Kup from Transformers: The Movie.

Other Spectres. Especially if, like someone else once suggested, the Council is sending them after you. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you get one on your team (especially since by ME3 you may have lost your own membership entirely).
Exactly. I love how Spectres were SUCH a big deal during ME1, and then... you hear it come up in conversations like what, once? Twice in ME2?
I'd like to know how many there are. In the space of the events surrounding ME1, the Council lost 3 (Nihilus, Saren, Shepard). There can't be more than a handful to start with.

You don't hear about them unless A: They've fucked up horribly, or B: They've done something really really awesome, and it's no longer important that it remain secret.
So I'm gonna go through my third run with a female Shepard this time. I've played Soldier and Infiltrator. What's the next most fun thing? I'm not playing on Insanity again, probably just Veteran.

Agreed! More new species would be great.
On a different note, if anybody has the Tali spiders comic, could they post it? I want to show it to a friend of mine.
