It'll have uses in PvE, but in PvP it will likely only be useful for Shadow since they have an out from snares and roots.

You know, Leap of Faith would probably work better as an actual LEAP.

Like "Jumps you to the positions of your selected Party/Raid Member" or something.

No real griefing potential and more useful.

Honestly I'm just happy to see what (if it gets implemented) will be just a fun ability. Getting raw functionality that makes your class better is always fun in and of itself, but it's nice to see them implementing more off-the wall stuff that's just neat and potentially beneficial.

Though, in my heart of hearts, I don't really expect life grip to make it to the actual game. Too much potential for abuse.

The priest leaping TOWARDS a party member is rarely going to be useful. That almost always means heading into danger when you have ranged spells as it is. Drawing it to you allows for escaping melee, getting into LoS quicker and getting out of range of any casters opposite the priest.

Maybe LoS for dps or other healers, but life gripping a tank towards you in the middle of combat is probably going to be a really stupid idea 100% of the time.

The example they give for that leap is retarded. Oh look a melee pulled aggro *GRAB* Oh look, now the boss is running away from the tank and towards the healers.

Well, in most situations like that, it's because the melee is attacking something the tank is not. And that will usually change almost immediately if the melee stops attacking that mob. So a life grip could actually get the tank's aoe threat enough time to latch on the enemy again.

I see your point though, all the same. Maybe it can come with a small passive threat reduction?

Anyone know if they're planning a price drop on WOLTK anytime soon? I mean, hell, it's been out for going on 16 months now and it's still 39.99 to upgrade online through Blizz? Amazon has it for 29, for with Cata coming out...

It'll drop in price after Cata's out to facilitate the upgrade process being not ridiculously expensive.

And gripping someone who has aggro makes the tank's job easier in getting threat back as then they need less threat to pull to them (assuming taunt is on cooldown). It keeps the person alive a little bit longer as well, giving time for others to CC the loose mob if need be. But yeah, the #1 thing it will help with is geese in fires.

I'm sure there's a fun ability buried in there somewhere, and I've no doubt it'll run on the same rules as Death grip, so we won't have any levitating pulls over chasms. But all it's going to take are a few dozen randoms with priests yanking melee away from bosses, yanking range and disrupting their casting and possibly OOR of their target, and even yanking the tank, thus insuring that giant fire breathing dragon with the chaining cleave is now out of position and facing the wrong way, before they realize that said ability was a stupid idea.

That's not a stupid idea though, it's just a stupid use of an ability.

The same could easily be said for deathgrip and any of the aggro wiping moves or threat redirects.

To be honest, Misdirect has FAR more malicious uses and hasnt been a widespread problem like, ever.

Quite honestly, the positive ability to remove some goosery (pulling people to where they need to be in fights) far outweighs the negative ability for goosery (IE pulling people INTO the fire)

Besides, you can never have enough abilities to mess with guildies when you are bored.

The idea behind the Holy "cast three in a row" talent (it's called "Chakra") is that we've always positioned Holy as a versatile healer. This talent lets you shift into different modes. If you need to be a tank healer, cast three single target heals and your single-target healing is now better. Cast three area heals, and you can be a temporarily specialized group healer. We're going to try to play this mechanic up with a cool UI to try to get that "I'm almost in the zone" feel. We'll let it apply to as many types of spells as we can, perhaps even Smite for those times when nobody's taking damage.

Misdirect has been a widespread problem with every good hunter I've ever played with, lol. Of course, that's just because it's funny as hell to kill people. I got at least one healer every time I tanked Iron Council hard mode. Try to run friend, there's nowhere to hide, intervene, exploooooooosion.

We were talking about random pugs doing it cause they are dumb, not people you know doing it to make the game interesting.

This is an example of the good kind of fun. Imagine instead as a priest pulling your bud about to hit 1st on the meters into a void zone as its about to pop, and you run out with your INNER WILLZ

I don't think Blizz wants to re-enact that death grip bug that got everyone stuck under Arathi on a boat. On the other hand, we may see Heroic Leap again - they'd just have to redo small parts of Outlands for it maybe (Northrend being built for it, Azeroth being revamped.)

Yeah it definitely would have made more sense if Hit-Cap was not something you could realistically shoot for, but hit rating is more of a balancing act these days.

So Power Word: Barrier is a group shield? Sounds like pally's Divine Sacrifice, only the pally has to sacrifice his/her own health for that spell... I'd cry "not fair" but I'm willing to be they're going to be reworking that talent anyway. I just hope they don't get rid of Divine Sac because I love the idea.

Also does anyone else have trouble finding room for buttons for their priest? Especially when I compare my priest to my pally - my holy pally has no problem with room for buttons. When I go prot I have even more space. Yet my level 72 priest is already out of room and I haven't gotten the 80 talents yet, plus all this new stuff for cata... yikes. D:

That's a terrible reason. You're using basic heals as your example; of course those differ across healers. But a talented skill that has almost the exact same mechanic for each class, and one class gets a much much worse version of it? That's not balanced. I'm not saying they should work the same way, but there should at least be balance.

Honestly, a much better reason is that Divine Sac is a talent that's very early in the prot tree, thus allowing holy pallies to take it, and it sounds like Power Word: Barrier will be a deeper disc talent. That reason alone is good enough to allow the lack of balance; but this is all hearsay until they tell us exactly where PW:B is going to be and whether Divine Sac is going to change.

Except that Disc priests are balanced around shielding multiple people, paladin healers are not. Divine Sac isn't even in the holy tree, though that's largely irrelevant. Divine Sac also scales with HP, while PWB will presumably scale with spellpower. We have no idea what the scaling will be on either of these in Cataclysm.

The "well divine sac takes HP and that's not fair" argument seems silly to me, because they're completely different abilities. The paladin can also divine shield out of the damage, if memory serves.

At any rate, we have no idea how any of this is going to ultimately pan out.
