My wife got it for my birthday last year. It was completely unpunched, but I have only gotten to play it a couple times. This year we are going to PAX for my birthday . We should get people together to play.
Awesome. I'll definitely find time to play. And what a great wife!
OMG! I haven't played that since I moved out west! Count me in.

Doofenshmirtz: Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
I didn't know there were tournaments when attending PAX last year. then again i totally failed at preparation. >_< I'd love to play some semi-competitive Dominion, m:tg, Carcassonne, or Ticket to Ride.
Fluxx feels far too random to really be run as a tournament. Fun certainly! but unsure how it could work in a tournament environment.

I agree that Fluxx is an awesome game but far too random to make a serious competition out of. Has anyone tried Martian Fluxx? It only came out a few months ago I think and I picked it up. It's an excellent version! The theme puts you in the role of the martians, with most of the creeper cards being "pathetic humans". I love it.

If you live in Lake Forest Park, do you ever play games @ Third Place Books on Sunday afternoons? I hear there is an organized meetup but still haven't found any evidence of it.
I know it sounds like a good idea, but I did this at PAX '08. There were seven people. Over eight hours, we completed two turns. Even if we got the 36 people to do a full-bracket, six person, single elimination tournament, that would destroy the entire con for all people involved.
...I still have nightmares.

P.S. and some douche from NYC backstabbed me during setup, too!
Does anyone here play Warhammer Invasion? Heard good things about it, but I also heard good things about Game of Thrones LCG, and my first play left me cold. Thoughts?

This is my biggest hesitation when thinking about tabletop tournaments. I almost lost my shit when I found out PAX did Robo Rally tournaments. That has always been my favorite game. Once I realized I could be my entire evening aside just for 1 game, though, I reconsidered.

No actually, haven't heard of it either... May be interesting to go sometime... I'll have to check the fishbowl event calendar next time I swing by the commons (I live half a block from Shoreline, 5-10m from 3rd Place). I used to go there for the Heroscape stuff once a month but faded from the scene.
I've just been getting into tabletop gaming so I'd probably lose, but I'd love to participate in a Race For the Galaxy tourney. That game is really fun.
Betrayal at House on the Hill
A game usually lasts about 45min and there are 50 or so scenarios in the original box.
It would probably be a point-win tournament since most games become 1 vs 5.
The traitor gets 10points for a victory, the heroes get 5points or something.
Do 3 to 5 games and take the point leaders for the final rounds... just thoughts...

Currently out of print, with a rerelease planned for the fall. I doubt it would be possible to get enough copies. It would be totally awesome though. Maybe the publisher could provide some advance copies...
I think Galaxy Trucker could be an awesome tourney game! Probably don't want to make each match all 3-4 boards but could do something like round 1 everyone plays first board, some eliminations, round 2 is 2nd board, etc. Would depend on how many people signed up I supposed.
I think I'd be willing to buy a copy of this to lend to the cause if someone wanted to organise it.
I doubt enough people play Neuroshima Hex for a tourney, but they damned well should. Soon available on iPhone, I might add!
It looks like a fun game, and alot of people (myself included) play in tournaments where we haven't played the game before. Its really the best way to learn how a new game works, just start playing.
Settlers of Catan is likely going to be run by the Mayfair folks, so that tournament is no longer on my schedule.
guess it would help if I read the OP, probably not though as I have a memory like a sieve. Still Catan and Dominion makes me happy! also Race for the Galaxy looks cool though I have never played it. Is it a hard game to learn?
Any details on format for dominion? Which expansions, etc.?
All expansions are fair game for the early rounds of the tournament, and they will be a random set of kingdom cards. The final round will be a fixed set of kingdom cards, to be revealed in the final round.
I would love to play a DND 4E outside of the sanctioned events, something where you can bring your own character of any level (based on what everyone else will have of course doesnt work to well with a level 5 playing in a level 15 setting) id want to play one of the adventure books that they have out. I want to play not dm but will if noone else volenteers. I will be staying at the sheraton and as far as i can tell there is a conference room we could use for it. it could be at anytime, after concerts 4 in the morning whatever. if interested ether post here or pm me.
ps. sorry if in incorrect thread it seemed the best.

"Dude, I think he's a zombie."
"No he's not, he's dead."
"But he's still walking around."
"Which makes him one of the walking dead."
"Exactly."
"So, he's dead."
"No, that makes him a zombie."

I bought the Growing Hunger and Survival of the Fittest expansions recently but haven't played with them yet. Gonna happen soon though.
