But I digress. In more important news, I hope they have exciting and wonderful MechWarrior news sometime soon at this here E3 thing.

I wonder if Kinect could work with Mechwarri- no I hated it before I finished typing.

I would like Kinect on Mechwarrior for one reason - combined with 3D to make amazing interactive 3D HUDs. Like, holobuttons that you hit to do stuff. That would be incredible.

    Otherwise, no thank you.

I really want to see Kinect combined with traditional controls. I don't really want to steer via Kinect, but if I can use my pad or wheel in conjunction with Kinect letting me look into corners, that would be swell.

Similarly, in Mechwarrior it can also be used to look around, and maybe have some sort of overhead-mounted switches in the cockpit you could raise your hands to virtually flip.

Kinect combining with the controller would be rad as hell. But the thing is, MS' whole philosophy behind Kinect is "no controller." They might resist that sort of thing for a while.

You have to stomp around like a mech.

    Make Mech noises.

Twist your torso independently of your walking direction.
This is just crazy enough to be totally awesome.

Well hopefully they'll leave it up to the devs. I think the "no controller" focus was mainly on the interface itself, which I agree with. Kinect XBE looked fantastic. As far as less casual games go, I think there will be leeway.

I hope so. Kinect could have some really, really cool applications, as long as the guideline isn't 'MAKE THE GAME USE IT EXCLUSIVELY'.

But they have something to prove here. That thing being "Our motion control tech is off the hook." That's motivation enough for a company to want to restrict things.

I'm not holding my breath, for the moment. If some developer busts something out though, I'll be happy to see it.

Well, people who make fun of you for playing games despite being an adult are assholes anyways. I'm an adult who plays games and it is as a direct result of my game-playing that I make a fairly comfortable living, particularly given my age.

Then in this case, 95% of my workplace are assholes then. And strangely, the remaining 5% happen to be :
    -A hardcore PC gamer
    -A yaoi fangirl
    -A roleplayer/larper
    -And one linux geek

Okay then. Yes, of course there's nuances, so I guess the whole "us VS them" model doesn't hold water at all here. So let me rephrase. I can divide the world into two categories. "People I like to hang aound" and "people I have absolutely no affinities with."

Where the fuck do you work or live that 95% of your workplace makes fun of you for being a gamer?

Give some examples of how they have made fun of you for being a gamer.

Okay. I don't mean this as an insult in any way, but are you sure the problem is them? I have very, very few 'gamer' friends and since high school (which is its own little subculture) I have never encountered any issues as a result of enjoying games. Obviously I'm not going to run into it in my workplace now, but even when I worked elsewhere, no one ever gave me shit for playing games.

It could be that the way you're coming across is affecting the way they treat you. Again, it's entirely possible you just ended up in an office staffed by assholes, but most people have no issue with people who enjoy games.
