So what is the future of TF2? We've all been waiting for the class updates for years now, which I guess were originally intended to balance the problems at launch. What happens after the engie update? Do they go around again starting with the medic? Is this going to be the last big update for TF2? They can't update/support it forever, and I can't imagine they're making any profits anymore. Will it just be the occasional community hat/weapon release?

I said this in the last thread that either we are going to get treated to two meet the... videos this update or there is going to be one more big release they have planned after this one. After that, I could see mostly tweaks and updates like the apple update/classless update involving community stuff and minor adds.
Edit: Also, I'm sure there's going to be a, buy this game get this/these hat(s)/weapon(s) for the next few years until the game does of that marketing gimmick dies off.

A couple things from the last thread:
Re: playing sniper as a team player, that's yet another reason I prefer the Huntsman.
About killing cloaked spies you had no idea were there, that was my very first Sniper achievement on the day of the update. A cloaked spy was on fire, I killed him, achievement for killing an invisible spy!
And then a few weeks ago I was digging through the achievements I still had to achieve and realised I never got the sniper taunt kill. So I played a couple rounds trying to find chances for it in between otherwise normal play. At one point I ran to a doorway, taunted and waited.. nobody came.
.......
... and then I got a kill and the achievement. I was confused as fuck. (It was a spy, obviously.)
What I hate is when we already have one or two decent spys/ snipers and someone (or two others) decide to play that same class and do bad. Then stay on it.
As a sniper who (in my opinion) isn't terrible, it really sucks to have to switch off of the class I'm doing good at because we have way too many of them.
Yessssss this is the worst thing. I never choose sniper if my team has more than one, and even if it's just one I'll hesitate pending playercount, team comp, etc. But it seems that as soon as I go sniper and get a few quick headshots, two guys minimum will go "oh that's cool I want that!" and switch.

It shows you how many people are playing a class, RIGHT ON what you have to click to select the class. Do people ignore this number or somehow not see it or something?

Also if you aren't puffing people with fire, airblasting them into a corner/ prop, and Axe-ing them a question/ flaring them if they get out of range, you are playing pyro wrong.
True but i still get that glass-canon that doesnt have an escape button vibe out of the pyro.
Maybe im just sad that i end up using the shotgun and the flare gun more often and with more efficiency then the the main weapon

Because people amuse themselfs playing the game, not playing for others.
They just wanna play the class that fits most to their playstyle or notion of fun. Forcing someone to change class just to win or compensate others lack of will, makes the game feel like a job, just like you stated that you dont like changing class when the others are far worse then you at it.
Yeah, I've said it before. I maybe get 2% of my kills with the flamethrower. The rest are flares or axetinguisher kills. Primary weapon is there to ignite for the follow up, postion mans, or reflect shit.
Speaking of reflects, I totally finished myself off as a pyro the other night with someones rocket. I was sad.
Oh joy, more limited stuff to be hidden in a secret webpage that I won't have a chance at because I work.
Who says it's a limited item? could be a limited game type/event.
I thinking it might be part event (to help with unlocks), part gameplay item.
Going all King Midas on someone (say, spies) could let you collect some Australium (or whatever the fuck they called it), and the wrench might have an alt-fire for use on buildings that temporarily protect it with the element to give you a short time to get away from your buildings (reduced damage taken, immunity to sappers, something something).
But the wrench can be destroyed via use by some mechanic and there will be another to let you create a new wrench (maybe collect Australium and it temporarily upgrades your existing wrench). So it'll be limited in the sense that you won't always have one, but it won't be a "gone for good" type of deal.
I'm hoping that it will temporarily protect your buildings from sappers so a spy can't just sit on the other end of the teleporter holding down M1 until it is destroyed :P It's pretty damned easy to get behind enemy lines on most open maps.

The email shows that it says %s1 and %s2. Which usually means (number issued) of (total number available).
Try reading it again. In context it uses %s1 to be the person who found/destroyed the wrench.
In most programming languages with format strings %s simply means that the argument will interpreted as a string, the number is probably just TF2's way of specifying which argument is being used in which position within the string. Meaning that if the message was printed with the player being the first argument and the number being the second and the order was %s2 and %s1, the number would go first and the player name second.
I'm sure a modder here could probably clarify that detail.
