Dudes.
I just found an unopened handheld steam cleaner. You put water in it and it heats up and pressurized steam comes out! I just cleaned my fridge and a door and a floor! It was like a zapper gun that kills dirt by boiling it alive! I have never seen these surfaces this clean!
There is a portion of my brain that understands with cold logic that I currently have Issues that preclude me from finding a relationship, that these issues come down to me, I have nobody else to blame, and will in all likelihood find someone wonderful as soon as I make some personal progress and stand on my own two feet.
There is another portion of my brain that feels seething rage and soulcrushing self-pity whenever I see any two people close to one another, for having what I don't.
No matter how much I try I can't seem to get part one to talk sense into part two.
I suggest coming to the realization that a relationship will not solve all of your problems.
That sort of helped me. At least for the present moment, until next week when I see the girl who smashed my soul into a thousand pieces 5 years ago.
That's part of what annoys me. I know that. I understand it.
But then part 2 chimes up with "yeah, but remember what hugs felt like? oh wait, I guess you don't!" and I go all RAIDEN SMASH.

That is amazing.
Take it on the subway and hope for the best.

I'm too attached to physical books.
I'm probably going to be like one of those farts who only listens to vinyl records.
My future students will laugh at me when they submit their i@e-ssays.

edit: and yeah _J_, the kindle is pretty awesome.
I tried to quantify hugs / fornication / kissing into discrete units of enjoyment and then compare those units of enjoyment to things which could be obtained independent of a relationship.
I think you will find that if you think about it for a while, you can be pretty happy independent of a relationship and find fulfillment being alone. Then, if you eventually find someone, they can be an addition to your life as opposed to the entirety of your life.
But that's me trying to find a way to deal with the fact that the woman I love is married to an asshat and i'll never get to be with her.
Oh my God, I can't believe Amazon is completely under-cutting Barnes and Noble now.
This is great. These things are gonna be free in cereal boxes in a few months.
$139 for a wifi-only Kindle is nuts.
And to be honest, the 3G is nice but not necessary. Unless you have such a hard-on for reading that you cannot wait to get into a WiFi spot before acquiring your next book.

I still can't afford one, nor would I take full advantage of it, but I am really excited about the competition between Barnes and Noble and Amazon. It's amazing.
Mostly i'm worried about being charged for 3G access to amazon.
What do you mean? The 3G access will always be free.
Until it isn't. Unless it always is.
Uh you know you only need online access for purchasing books right, not reading them? Unless you really neede new books ALL THE TIME the 3g isnt really worth it.
Especially because a lot of the places you're likely to read these days will probably have wi-fi. You're not going to be buying new books while walking down the street.

Yeah I think I would get the WiFi version. I can plan well enough that I won't finish every single book on the device during a time when I'm outside of WiFi range.
I get tired of staring at backlit screens around hour 14
e-ink screens are nice and a kindle is a hell of a lot more portable than a library
I usually get tired after ten or so hours. I'm starting to think about a kindle if only for the purpose of reading all the academic journals and articles and whatnot I have been going through lately.
I wonder how many textbooks are available on Amazon in digital format?
the only value with the 3g is the page syncing between other kindle apps/devices no matter where you are, but the 3g radio is so hard on the battery I keep it off anyways most of the time

What the hell is that?
Very yes if you read a lot and aren't attached to physical books.
Do you like to read? If so it is awesome.
If not, it is crap.
I mean, it basically has one utility and is excellent at it. This is like the easiest decision in the world, man.

Also, having a digital copy of a book is handy for long trips, but I too like having physical copies of them. Particularly for lavatory visits.

Any reasonable person would be disappointed with us.

the plot got kind of experimental in the 80s when Wolverine spent a summer in Prague
I don't think browsing through a kindle is ever going to have the same level of satisfaction as browsing a bookshelf.
I like the idea of e-books because it saves space in my bag, but on a visceral level it's just not the same.
that is pretty cheap
but I want an ipad v2

seeing as my new commute from Westchester will give me ample time to read.

he... uh... drank a lot of beer, or whatever else the city’s famous for
also apparently my guess was right
I would love to get rid of the stacks of bankers boxes full of journals taking up all the leg room under my desk.
if it is a city in europe, it is famous for beer
