What is Colin Firth doing touching James Franco's award???
Agreed. Love Firth, and he definitely deserved it last year, but this was Franco's year. What sucks is how entirely expected this was. Funny how Best Actor and Best Actress were pretty much set from the get go.

Am I the only one who thinks 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' is a super depressing song?

Very sexy, except for the bit where James Franco lost all interest halfway through the show and then became convinced that if he leaned forward, his head would come off.

"The King's Speech" was a good movie. I don't know that it was really the best of the bunch, but it could have been worse. Like the year "Crash" won...God, that was an awful movie...
I just realized that Tom Hooper looks like a much younger James Cameron.
Seriously, you all owe it to yourselves to see Winter's Bone.
It's really, really good.
It's at the top of my list, now.
Well, after Inception, which I'm probably watching...tonight.
Oh, and was I the only one that thought it a little odd that they'd show all the Best Film nominees, but only have the voice over from a single nominee? Especially when that single nominee was the one expected to win?
I wish I'd seen Reznor get the Oscar. Did he say anything special?
His first words: "Wow. I don't know what to say. Um."
He was really modest. Considering he and Atticus totally deserved to win.
If you'd told me twenty years ago that Trent Reznor would be winning an Oscar (and look that.....normal), I'd think you were fucking crazy. But damn, did he earn it, and apparently appreciate it.
Buh, King's Speech won. Saw it coming a mile away.
Social Network should have taken it.
No it shouldn't have. Social Network was only as good as it was because of Aaron Sorkin, and he was honored for making it such.
Also, Haylee Stanfield was completely robbed.

'Fuck yeah, me too. What little kid ever pretended to be part of the lynch-mob?'
And Stenfield wasn't robbed. In truth, her odds were increased by the fact she was put in the wrong category. Melissa Leo and Jackie Weaver were transformative in their performances. All three were as close to equally deserving as I can imagine.

I dont think i've harbored such intense negative thoughts towards a character while watching a movie than i had when i was watching melissa leo play the mother in the fighter. That kitchen scene with all the women almost made me walk away from the movie. She definitely deserved that award.

And, y'know, Best Supporting Actor is Batman.
Also, Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique in the new X-Men movie.
haha Speilberg just made the BEST POINT EVER.
I missed that, what was it ?
I mean it should have been Inception but still.
It's really, really good.
I didn't catch it.
Also, not unexpected, but still disappointing.
No.
It's designed to be depressing.
Why I fear the ocean.
The King's Speech is a worthy film. Grats to that crew.

And Franco was Harry Osborn/Green Goblin.
and Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye.

It sure sounds that way. This reminds me of Monster's Ball's score. (High praise.)

Subtle, Academy. Subtle.

the delta between saving private ryan and shakespeare in love is nowhere near the delta between social network and king's speech
It is scary as shit because it is frighteningly realistic.

Sorkin's script in the wrong hands wouldn't have been as powerful. Every element of that film complemented the rest.
Opinions!
Named movies that had won Best Picture and then named a superior list of films that had not.
