Are power-fist type stuff considered melee, or unarmed?

Do companions not switch back to their default guns when you remove others? Only tried with Veronica, and she went back to power fist...but I'm playing with Raul, did a quest in a casino that involved getting my guns taken away and then having someone give me guns...Raul had a shotgun with one bullet in his inventory, when I took it out, he doesn't go back to a .44. He just melees everything. Poorly.

I want to make a melee/unarmed character. Should I specialize in one? And what should be my third tagged skill?

I put perception at 4 for this character, hopefully it doesn't affect me negatively until I can get implants.

Also, how is everyone's experience working with the Legion? The NCR own a lot of outposts so I'm worried that I wont have much to do west of the Colorado.

If you get ED-E, I don't think you'll ever mind having lower perception :). It's just for HUD detection in NV, right? You could always wear a pre-war hat to get back up to a standard 5, anyhow.

I am very glad the game warns you of any points of no return in the story. I was so peeved in ME2 when the game sprung the last mission on me

BTW, easiest way to finish For the Republic 2 (the kablooie part)
have about 50+ sneak, steal all 3 keycards. Wait until the head scribe is asleep. Input all the self destruct nonsense. Walk into head scribes room. Kill head scribe. Hide until 'Hidden' and put on his clothes. Walk out! :D

So any advice on Mr. House vs. Yes Man?
From what I've heard, if you stick with House:
He winds up being a rather tyranical fucker if he's left in power.
I'm not sure how things go if you sieze power and then try to get in with the NCR 'cause my game decided to fuck up the NCR domination quest at that point, though it seems that they do little better if you let them take control of the Mojave.
Also, as far as the options for Yes Man to "ignore" certain factions
Choosing to ignore, say, The White Glove Society, means they'll still be around/in power once the power transfer and Dam shake out, but if you don't tell him to ignore them, does he destroy or eliminate them? Though I'm in like flynn with them, I really want to see them go down. Fucking cannibals.
I don't recall there being any specific slides dedicated to one casino in the ending (then again, I didn't explicitly piss any of them off either and was actually in good with the WGS) but if I had to hazard a guess it oscilates between all 3 casinos recognising you as the head honcho, some of them resisting (and probably getting whacked as a result) or all 3 of them fighting you tooth and nail to their deaths.

The Terminator or some reference to it: Governator, Leverminator, Give It To Me, Take it, Say Please... Grab any piece of dialog from the T2 bar scene and run with it. Possibly it should appear with the shades; Arnold seemed to think they go together, and let's face it, Oblivion-engine games are really about dressing up your character like a 3D paperdoll, except it sounds more manly. Action figures.

You can't make it 10 Ga, so maybe make it a 12 Ga.

I think if we look at the various ammo and weapons, there are more items that need crafting recipes or a unique variant or two, without going crazy and adding all the weapons from MW2 and Counterstrike.

I feel so badass at this point in the game.

I feel as if I could walk into any legion camp and utterly destroy them, bringing a smile to Boone's face and filling my heart with an acrid, gunpowder scented satisfaction.

I wish someone would just give me a "DESTROY THE LEGION" quest, but of course that has to happen later.

You can stay hidden even if your ally is being attacked.

I've gotten sneak attack criticals on radscorps that were meleeing Veronica.

In fact, with the explosive effect on my energy weapon kills, I tend to score sneak attack crits on her as well.

So. I kinda...Have potentially made some mistakes.

Sitting in New Vegas right now.
Been helping Mr. House, with full intentions of grabbing the place for myself at the culmination of all this. I got the quests to stop helping him or the Legion and NCR would be displeased.

    I then failed those quests.

Now I'm getting ambushed by assassins with way better gear than I have who kill me on the spot. So, I'm gonna roll back to my last save, but I need a good place for a level 12-ish person to get some better gear than reinforced leather armor. Any ideas?

If you've got the caps, Gun Runners always has the best armor available at your level. Or BoS if you've found them yet.

I would suggest you do more sidequests and gain some levels. No reason to rush the main quest.

I like making stuff fit into the game, so something that isn't 100% lawyer-bait is good.

Also: can we flip it to a one-handed gun with a ST requirement? :) Can we set it in GECK that the ST check is skipped if you are wearing shades?

Nah, it'd look all weird and shit if it was one-handed I'm afraid. If there was a modded one-hand holding and aiming animation that might work, but Arnold used it two-handed as well as one so it's a moot point methinks.

So is it pretty much confirmed that your endgame alliances are limited to:
NCR, Legion, House, Yes Man? or is there possibly another wildcard. I went with Yes Man on my first playthrough, though I was really hoping I could orchestrate a resurgence of the brotherhood of steel and give them new vegas, those fuckers would LOVE setting up a little somethin' in the Lucky 38. Though given their numbers that's obviously not a feasable ending.

Extra discounts and I think you might get more gift runners ala Fallout 3, that's about it I imagine.

EDIT: Would I be wrong in hazarding a guess that 12.7 ammo is actually .50 Action Express? For some reason 12.7 rounds are set at .0064 weight when 10mms are .033, and that just seems wrong and I chopped out the second zero.

That's just how it goes, get up to accepted/liked and it'll open up.

EDIT: you know what'd be cool for some DLC? If they gave Tactics a bit of a nod and had the Midwest Brotherhood show up and start nosing around the Mojave as well. Would be interesting to see what slice of the Vegas pie they'd want, and maybe we could get some brother-on-brother action going on.

Add to the op to download the latest nvidia driver that was released yesterday. Almost every graphical problem I've had with New Vegas is gone. There's no nanosecond freezes when i turn my chracter fast (except for really fast but that i can deal with), no stuttering during fire fights, the only problem i still have is a bit of stuttering when i go in and out of vats but I've had that problem before in Fallout 3.

I highly reccomend getting the new nvidia driver.

I also really like how they treat homosexuality in game, that is to say not at all. Companions just mention it offhandedly and you don't even get a speech option to be offended, there's no flowery princess gay guy, the lesbian companion is only kind of butch in that she is a soldier

    and near forlorn hope
there's a letter going on about how someone misses a guy and wants to see them again, and then at the end you notice it's from a guy
