Also, the socket exception error itself may be caused by network card settings (it's not what killed the server before, corruption from the force close did that). Or it may be caused by people with 'bad' minecraft clients. I'm being serious, that exception was happening enough to be noticed before Halloween, and it was caused by bad programming on Notch's part. I don't think we can blame any one person, but there's something happening that's unconnected to anything anyone is doing in-game.
