Eduardo Nunez and Ramiro Pena combined to go 4 for 8 with 2 home runs and 2 stolen bases. That's pretty cool.

Phils still cruising, sweep Marlins; Cole Hamels to start the All Star game? My sources say yes.

Halladay is still better, but Hamels wouldn't be undeserving. Them plus Lee should go, but Lee might be left off because of lesser standard stats.

Halladay's got better stuff but by every metric Hamels has been better this year. I love Doc in an embarassing way but Cole has been the Phillies' best starter this year.

    Oh, every metric you say? Halladay, 9.13 K/9, Hamels, 8.94. Halladay, 1.12 BB/9, Hamels, 1.75. Halladay K/BB, 8.14, Hamels, 5.11. Halladay FIP, 2.17, Hamels 2.28. Halladay xFIP, 2.31, Hamels 2.51.

    Nope.

Fine fine, not every metric. But he has a better ERA and better WHIP and Halladay's K/9 is marginally better at best.

I'm on the subway right now and there is an ad with Wakefield and Buccholz back-to-back smiling like some shitty romantic comedy poster. It's a Jimmy Fund ad that says "Strike Out Cancer." Okay, that's all well and good but why those two? Why not Jon "I beat cancer" Lester!

The Orioles FINALLY win in Toronto. They have not won a game in Toronto since 2009.

After sweeping the A's and winning the first against the Rays the Orioles lost four in a row. Two in extra innings and one in the ninth. This team has been so maddening, just when they look like they are about to go on a tear, they stumble.

Nationals coming up this weekend, that usually bodes well for the Orioles.

toronto's starting 4.5 have been horrendous the last 20 games.

bautista's average has plummeted, but he's still scoring runs, since you know he walks 1 to 3 times a game.

    toronto will finish 82-80.

Five complete games for Shields this year.

Three shutouts not including today where the only run was unearned.

Somehow the Phillies will find a way to acquire him.

Between him and Hamels that game took two hours and twenty minutes. Lemme tell you, this Phils team and their short games has done wonders for my viewing habits. I just can't take a three or three and a half hour game but two and a half? Sure.
