Completionist with no Xbox Live

I'm one of those guys who will not play a game unless every achievement is obtainable, but would rather not waste my time on stupid games with easy achievements. One problem: I have zero access to Xbox Live. This means no Arcade games, and no games with achievements where online capability is necessary. Games like BioShock or Mass Effect where there are DLC achievements, even if I can't obtain them, are okay. All I need is that "1000/1000."

So, here's the question: what are the best Xbox games out there where none of the achievements demand Xbox Live access?

By 'zero access to Xbox Live', what do you mean? You have the Internet (clearly), so would it be possible to just plug in and connect with a free account?

The reason I ask is that Halo: Reach doesn't require a Gold account to get all of the achievements, but it does require Internet connection.

Nope. My Xbox does not even have marketplace access. All attempts to rectify this issue have failed, and the only solution present to me is to get a new Xbox. This is not an acceptable option.

Ha. Mash X now for all cheevos!

Honestly, the question is basically the same as "What are some good 360 games with limited or no Live functionality".

The quick answer is that there are lots. It's going to depend largely on what you like and what you've already played.

Since I never play online on Live I'll run through the games I have that I know don't have online achievements:

-Fallout 3 (Probably New Vegas as well).
    -Earth Defense Force
    -Way of the Samurai 3
    -Mirror's Edge
    -Assassin's Creed 1 and 2
    -Pretty muich any JRPG

Edit: Oh yeah - Bayonetta and DMC4.

    To Willeth
It does sound like he isn't online at all so no Reach for him.

I've got a brand new account, so assume I haven't played anything. And there's no genre I won't play.

So, what? It has a broken ethernet port? You're stationed somewhere remote with bad access, what?

Because if it's broken and you bought it recently, get that shit replaced.

Only for the preorder stuff, which has no achievements attached to it

There is DLC coming Christmas time but I don't think it's part of the original 1000

I don't think that's true for Reach. I can count at least 10 achievements that require Matchmaking.

Hrm. Lost Odyssey. Blue Dragon. Tales of Vesperia. Eternal Sonata.

Note that not all of those are considered very good. And I'm also not sure since I don't own all of them. But if I had to bet I'd say they don't need Live access for a 1000/1000.

UltimaneCat's list is a good one. Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed especially - and I'm going to lay down Batman: Arkham Asylum, whicyh is recommended anyway.

There are a few XBLA game compilation discs available with stuff like Geometry Wars but it's worth checking ahead of time if they have Live-only achievements, because (for example) the disc with Geometry Wars 2 also has Texas Hold'em on it, which has Live-required achievements (whereas GW2 doesn't). However, I believe you can buy the disc and play GW2 without having to load up any of the other games on the disc to ruin your perfect record.

EDIT: Whoops, you're right about Reach. I just mentally file it away as not having any online stuff as I don't have any hard outstanding ones like in Halo 3.

Infinity Ward was pretty against online cheevos. But there is like 1 or 2 co-op achievements in Modern Warfare 2, but they can be done split-screen.

I know exactly what you are talking about though. I hate online achievements with a passion unless they are just stupid easy. Stuff that requires special circumstances like Halo 3, get a double kill with the spartan laser in a non-team game? That was just silly.

They also ruin a lot of games during the first week or so, when it's just people boosting. An example would be the "shoot 1000 bullets in one match" cheevo from Medal of Honor. First online game my friend joined everyone was just staring at the sky with an MG and shooting.

Is your 360 banned? That's the only reason I can see not being able to access live other than faulty hardware or lack of broadband.

Also, Bioshock and Mass Effect's base 1000 are possible since they are not tied to online/DLC. Even one of Mass Effect's DLC achievements is possible since the Platinum Hits version has "Bring Down the Sky" DLC on it. Same goes for Mass Effect 2.
