Well I've completely crashed and burned on the Sentinel. I've spent the better part of the day on it and it looks like crap. I'll still try to finish the other IG stuff but I give up on the Sentinel. Whoever wants to make it please be my guest.
I don't think normal shading method is going to fly on this one. Not sure how to approach it.

I don't know, normal shading may in fact work out fine on it; as it is the Thunderhawk has good readability and just needs some definition like the tanks have.
And sorry I haven't been on today to provide any more additions; my Bretonnian and Tomb King army books came toady and I spent a couple hours going over them. :P
I really like the current state of Rank's Orks, glad I could make some contributions to them and would be willing to tackle Stormboyz and Flash Gitz while he focuses on more skilled work like bikes. Although I've got the feeling the Warboss sprites would work better as Nobz, at least in what I recall are the size increments from Boyz to Skarboyz, Nobz, and up to Warbosses. I could do some heavy armor versions of them either way.
Asides from that, I have to admit I prefer the rocket modification I did to make them appear more simple and panzerfaust-like, rather than guided missile tubes.
Messing around with some ideas for the drop pod. The leftmost is the plain drop pod. I was experimenting with impact marks on the other ones... what do you guys think? It might be outside the scope of things, really.
As God-damned awesome as your drop pod is, I had a little go at making the cracks more cracky - you know, the effect where you can see little bits of cracked rock by the cracks. It's pretty damned difficult, though.
And what are you using for the Thunderhawk, Ein? Your lines look so CADy, which is awesome.

Did any one ever redo the helmet on my guardian? If not I'm going to go back in and play around with it

By the way, on that Chimera I actually held up my model's turret to the screen and traced around it since I couldn't get the angles to look right no matter what. Oddly it was actually in scale.

Just photoshop. :P
Dammit
I just
Curved lines man, I don't know how you get them so perfect. And other general design stuff.
It is so difficult not to constantly ask for spriting advice in this topic. Everything is really shaping up here.
I finally gave up making cracks and had a go at pointying your eldar a little.
Ended up with what looks a little more old-school guardian:
that looks pretty good, actually
Yes. I like it. Ok, I'm going to try for a Fire Dragon next. Shit I have a lot of work a head of me.

Jam
Test-shaded a couple panels on the Thunderhawk. It's a bit over-dramatic, in my opinion, but it might be a good start, if you toned it down. Dunno, just an idea I wanted to try.

Exploded 2x for detail.
I.. I see.
Huh.
Way to make a lot of work for me, eh? I like it, but it doesn't properly emphasize the different elevations on the ship, and it wouldn't really mesh with the other marines all that well.
Maybe a compromise.

that's why I said it was a bit over-dramatic.
And holy fuck it is tedious.
Although you can just do one spot and copy/paste it over and over.
But still.
Holy fuck tedious.
And yeah, it doesn't really work for flat panels. Would work good on slanted panels, and it looks sorta neat, but yeah.
Alright, I feel like a dick for constantly fiddling with your eldar, ZeroZero, but... I wanted to see if I could make a more up-to-date one. Feel free to use whatever you feel looks best, man!
Iyanden pattern of course, just because bold colours are easier for me to work with.
EDIT: Wait, I think I fucked up a bit on the cable. I'll see if I can fix it.
EDIT2: Nope, it's just because of the grey background. Phew.
Ok so I need a better program to sprite with. My fire dragon looked like a red guardian.
edit: Zetic, it's no problem. The better they are, the better the game will look! I'm not protective of my work. I know it's not the best, so if some one can make it better, I'm all for it

what are you using, Zero?
Perhaps try GimpShop, it might work well for you. I don't know it very well, though.
Also, Jam, you don't happen to have a couple of StormBoyz, do ya?
The free version won't allow you to load or save GIFs (for animation purposes), but other than that it's got everything you would need for this kind of work. I love it, and once I got over the slight learning curve I was cutting off hours of time.

Also on the thunderhawk, you might consider making the blue abit more vibrant, it looks alittle grayer compared to the rest of the SM's due to its size.
Posts
Not to mention the whole thing with having a big enough battleground so it makes sense. 4' by 4' turns out to be pretty small for 2000+ point games.
I think it's about half the size of a cruiser, which should be right.
edit - added cruiser and light cruiser for scale.
edit2 - easy mod for the sword
Added Warboss with Big CHoppa, Rokkit Launcha, Big Shoota and PowerKlaw (not completely sold on the powerclaw on him at the moment).
I'd like to move on to bikes or StormBoyz. Anyone got a good overhead picture of either? I lost a lot of models when I moved a while back.
:? Got a lot to do yet.
New additions from left to right:
- Firestorm frigate
- Sword frigate
- Cobra escort
- Dauntless light cruiser
Battleships are gonna be a deuce and a half to get right...
I Don't know how to work on sprites.... I just hoped someone who plays Privateer games might have the knowledge I lack.....
hooooooly crap Jam
that's badass
I don't know if I'll start from scratch or try and mod one of the cruisers.
The good news is that once the body is done, the rest is a bit easier.
Oh yeah, feel free to fix the Firestorm's lance. It just doesn't look quite right..

Darn.
So, Gigglio. How do you do it?
Just photoshop. :P
see enclosed. (Double sized for image clarity)
You're drawn to my eccentric Brawl Code: 4596 9143 4529
interesting... I'll consider it.
But right now, I'm eating dinner.
Awm awm awm awm.
Chimera added.
And now to sleep. Tomorrow I'll whip up a Hellhound and Basilisk. Since they use the same frame as the Chimera it shouldn't take long.

Well hopefully you can tell what it is without looking at the filename...
Excellent.
I think the yellow should be less saturated, it's very close to a tan-ish brown color. It could also be slightly bigger.
