is an action-oriented video game with a combination of survival horror and first-person shooter elements. The game is based on the novel Metro 2033 by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. It was developed by 4A Games in Ukraine and released in March 2010 for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.[2] In March 2006, 4A Games announced a partnership with Glukhovsky to collaborate on the game.[3] The game was announced at the 2009 Games Convention in Leipzig;[4] a first trailer came along with the announcement.[5]
This is a game that I'll be playing today, it's supposed to basically be Russian Half-Life and also very scary. I've decided to actually play this through, but I might pass out a few times due to fear.
@SOTAR: Yeah, all the big supermarkets here have an online shopping service.
Since I don't have a car, there isn't really any other practical way to do a weekly shop.
Well I guess vehicles are not a necessity over there like they are here.
They're handy to have for some things, but I can't really justify the expense of owning/running a car. I can always rent if I really need one for something.

Yeah it's great for a while. But then you realise you've done your greatest deed and become disillusioned with life. And you inevitably leave for Grey Haven and then set sail for Valinor.

In NYC, cars are absolutely luxury items as well.
I don't own one, and don't see the need to either.
Do you folks have hourly car rentals over there as well? For less than 20 bucks, I can rent a hybrid for a couple hours if I need to do something public transit fails at, like a huge pickup at Target.

I drove a rental car on upper broadway on a monday afternoon. I was trying to get upstate from Newark and the gps hated me. It took such a long freaking time to get out of manhattan.

It exists, but it's not really pervasive enough in Brum to be useful for me. There are more options in London.
Given that daily rentals are like £10-15, and the hourly rental places always require monthly membership, it's probably never going to be worth my while unless I start needing rental cars a lot more than I do now. Whenever I've rented a car in the past, the fuel I've used has always cost me more than the rental itself, so cheaper rental wouldn't make that much difference.
EDIT: Although I should say that hourly rentals might make more sense in the circumstance where I'd need to park the vehicle in a city centre.
But having a vehicle kicks a ton of ass is the end of that sentence.
Yeah. It makes stuff easier. Not cheaper, no, but sometimes even more fun!
True, although it is not that much for me. $600 a year for insurance and about $35 every other week for gas. Plus the oil changes and whatnot. Also my car cost $1500 and still runs like a champ almost a year later.
Yeah, in central London there are lots of hour based hire car/van services. I don't really use them, but a lot of friends do and they seem to like the service. The bike hire service is pretty good too
My car was a tiny bit more expensive than that. :P
Well the good thing about Hawaii is that there are three major military bases and you are only allowed to take one car back to the states with you, otherwise you have to ship it. So I took advantage of someone offering his '98 Chevy Malibu for $1500 and got it. This car is in pristine condition and has never been smoked in.
Also the various running costs for a car are a lot lower in the US than they are here.
Cheapest insurance quote I could get was £1600, VED is probably going to be at least £120 for anything but newish diesels and hybrids, and fuel costs are a lot higher. Last time I rented was to go back home, so I did about 600-ish motorway miles and spent about £140 on fuel.

Yeah, that's good. I found the car I wanted with all the extras I wanted, used but in good shape, only to find out it's been a smoker's car. Couldn't bear it.
Edit: So I bought new.

My car was not cheap, but I put about 20k miles a year on em due to work/play, so I wanted something sporty, nice, and comfortable, but with decent gas mileage.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

We have a veritable Beatles moment here!
It's sort of like becoming an ascended being.
I would listen to that song but I am listening to some Black Sabbath.
Can't blame you there.

Too bad this Greatest Hits CD is going from the great early Ozzy stuff to the horrid late era Ozzy stuff.

I'm pondering a scooter or small capacity motorbike just for a bit of independent mobility.
The public transport system in this city is OK, but not fantastic.

Also, i'm quite convinced that in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, there are no civilians. Only hulking angry muscle men.

I am pretty sure there are civilians, just not so much in the miniatures game
The books are pretty good at exploring the aspects of the 40k universe that aren't "rargh everyone is a soldier"
Also Necromunda.
Gangs are civilians.
To be fair almost everyone in Necromunda is a hulking angry man
aside from the Escher gangs, but we're not going to talk about them
So I got this:
even then civilans are more statistics than people
Sisters of Battle.
I've been here for like two years I think and I only just made one
