I hope they bring planet exploration back to some degree. The lack of it was one of ME2's biggest weaknesses for me, it made the "world" feel much smaller.

Its easy to imagine a scenario where Cerberus wants to kill Shepard.

TIM can't control Shep, Shep breaks free of Cerberus, fires Miranda Hot-Pants Lawson and steals the Normandy 2 and goes off to do her own thing. TIM is mad, brings the full brunt of his infinite resources to bear to hunt down and capture/kill Shep.

And also, I am 100% in favor of Liara back on the team. She is my favorite squadmate and not just because she's Shepards lesbian girlfriend. I actually really like the character. Oh, and <3<3<3 Ali Hillis.

Even the mere possibility of a Shepard, Wrex, Garrus broteam finale is making me giddy.
We had that before, it was called Mass Effect 1.

    Now, Shepard, Wrex, and Grunt...

Oh my god, the Reapers have NO IDEA how truly fucked they are. Now they will know the shame of having their entire race headbutted to death.

However will they stand against Grunt's waves of teenage angst!

Perhaps he's become smitten with the dark passions of Jaqueline Nought's work, and has taken up poetry himself.

No see that doesn't make sense. The Illusive Man, in the way he is written and portrayed, is one step ahead of the plot at all times.

Therefore if he is chasing Shepard, that presumes of course that he hasn't been usurped somehow at Cerberus, then it is for the greater good.

Good or evil, everything TIM has done in ME2 and the expanded works has, ultimately, not only had good intentions but good outcomes. He's the ultimate pragmatist, the devious character who has already read the script. He doesn't need recognition, nor does he ever seem to want it. He just pulls the strings and dance my playthings dance as I manipulate everyone in the goddamn universe for my own purposes.

It makes zero sense for TIM to be indoctrinated, and if it turns out that is the case it will be an incredibly annoying letdown.

Cerberus hunting Shepard doesn't mean TIM hunting Shepard.

It's possible that he's left the organization and moved on to another means of saving humanity, either before or after the rank and file went all murderous.

Cerberus was a surprisingly small operation to begin with

if you ask EDE about it post-game it becomes clear that you have cleaned up the burning wreckage of literally every other Cerberus operation

Cerberus is like, TIM's butler and like one dude who was on leave when the rest of his cell turned into monsters and exploded

Going after Shepard out of spite would really diminish TIM as a character. The way I see it, following ME2, he would be super pissed at Shepard, but still reluctantly support him. As has been said, Shep is still believed to be the only individual in the galaxy capable of stopping the Reapers. And regardless of how TIM feels, they kind of supersede everything.

Now, they could have Cerberus attempt to just make another Shepard, which would have all sorts of awesome, fucked up implications.

I think Liara absolutely needs to be a major player, especially after LOTSB, but as far as squadmates go, she's nothing special. I'm thinking she's there only because she's one of two characters who are definitely alive.

While my heart bleeds for you, as I'm well aware of the sting of not getting sequels to games I want (Chrono 3), the above is particularly irritating because the company can't go a week without trolling fans by saying "yeah, we really want to make it, but...."

I keep thinking an announcement is right around the corner, and it's been that way for the last 3 or 4 years now.

That's one thing Western companies have over Japanese ones. None of this coy bullshit, they tell you straight up "dude, of course there's going to be a sequel" even when their last game is barely out the door.

Heh, Ashley looks... attractive? That's surprising. I'm also glad to once again see my bud Garrus is back. I'm also positive Tali will return, as was already stated that hell, those two have the whole "squad-mates in every game" with the trilogy. I'm guessing James Sanders is the guy from the trailer.

We also know that EDI is back and I'm assuming Joker as well. I expect an action packed intro sequence of escaping Earth as the fucking Reapers rain hell down upon it.

The problem I think with the whole suicide mission as the end of Act 2, is that it paints Bioware into a corner. If they're going to allow you to import your save, that means that any one of the team members could be dead. The problem is I can't see them spending significant resources on a character that many players might not even be able to interract with. I suppose they could get around this with the 'canon' ending being that everyone lives.

I think they'e going to have to focus much less on people's personal stories (at least the ones that could have died), and more on the main storyline. I suppose they could have full on sidequests for people that could not have died (Liara, Ashley, Kaiden, etc.) and just on ship interactions with the others. I just have a hard time believing that they're going to spend months of development on characters that might not even be there.

Having said that, I liked both the MA and DA series so far, so I'm not really criticizing them directly. I just hope that they can pull it off without being too deus ex machina. In my first playthrough Tali died, and in my second playthrough a year later or so Jack died (no big loss there), so they would really have to go out of their way to make any squadmate integral to the story itself. My theory is that the game is going to be much less about your party's story than the main story itself, with the exception of maybe Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, and new people.

I could see most squadmates that we've acquired over the series so far being temporary options during the part of the action that happens in their area. Wrex obviously has his hands full, Liara is busy now, Tali will be doing research on the dark matter/geth stuff. But if we get a few hubs with access to those old standards while doing missions from their specific hub, that would make me happy.

Garrus and Ashley/Kaiden make sense as constant companions. They'll probably be the ones breaking us out on earth.

I'm doing 2 runs right now. One in ME1, and another in ME2, to get my perfect characters ready for the end game, and I'm contemplating a third run... Mass Effect is going to be the death of me.

EDIT: I suppose I should also mention that I'm doing variations of the same runs, where things are different, like some people die, and some people don't, and I romance different characters, so if I add those up, then I guess I'm doing something like five or six runs.
