There needs to be a series of posters with all the different kings - Robb, Stannis, Renly, and Joffrey. Throw Dany on there and hell maybe Balon too though I dont think he's major enough to warrant a poster slot

His powers are obviously genuine, since he you know, revived Dondarrion from the dead. Although it has been shown that he is not the only one who can revive the dead...
When I say genuine, I mean, did R'hllor hook him up? Or is he the pawn of somebody who imbued with with ze magics, like Mel??
I trust R'hollor and anyone who claims to serve him not even a little.
But Thoros does seem to be at least closer to being on the level than Melisandre. It's important to remember that it wasn't Thoros who created Stoneheart, Beric Dondarrion did that by transferring Thoros' gift to her.
He is pretty blue collar for some sort of warpriest for a fire god, it's true.

Although I didn't pick up the series until '99 or '00. It's weird to think about how I was in high school when book 3 came out, in college for book 4, and will have been working at the same company for 5 years when book 5 finally hits the shelves.

Season 2 is literally the War of the Five Kings. This needs to be reflected in marketing. Five kings, five posters. Balon gets one because he's one of the Five Kings.
Also they need to milk the shit out of "A Clash of Kings" as a marketing slogan for season 2. They probably won't change the series title as that would get confusing, but there are a bunch of taglines they could plug it in.
Toss a bunch of swords off a building in New York. A storm of swords, you see....

Had my sister watch this with me yesterday. The combination of the expression on her face and the gasp of absolute shock when we hit the last scene was priceless.
Sorry, hopefully anybody who doesn't want to get spoiled won't go back and look for what I referenced. I'll go back and edit it anyway though. Like I said, I really do not want to feel like I am ruining anybody's fun and I'm actually not even really complaining about being spoiled. The nature of this thing being so nearly impossible to enjoy without any spoilers means it is going to happen. The only options are to have everybody be super considerate and diligent with their "informed" discussion, read the books myself, or don't participate in the internet's discussion of the show at all.
Again, the complaint is a general lament. Even if you guys are being absolutely pristine with your spoiling, it still means that I scroll through 90% of every page without reading anything because its all behind a spoiler box. I can already feel the "stop complaining" responses, and I promise that I am not complaining about any of you guys, and that I am done with the complaint in general!
well I think part of the issue is we've all already talked to death about the first episode already, once we start getting more shows it will be easier to keep the conversation at least focused on the action at hand rather than shooting off on all these tangents
that said if you're interesting in sharing your impressions of the pilot I'm sure plenty of people would be interested in hearing them!

While we're on dream casting discussions, I submit Polly Walker as Melisandre (I've mentioned this before). You know her as Atia of the Julii from Rome. It's hard for me to picture anyone else as her ever since I've seen Rome.
Also hey, season 2 means they'll get around to casting the Tully males (all of whom would have normally showed up in season 1 if they'd kept closer to the book, but cuts had to be made). For my part, I'll say that in my head, Edmure has always been Karl Urban. Dunno why. Maybe I just get an Eomer vibe from him. Maybe it's because their names sound vaguely alike.
