Yay! I'll actually be in town for this one. Suddenly me missing out on the double xp weekend isn't so bad. So seeing as how my turret spam team annihilates missions as it is, would my reaction thus be upgraded from "whattt" to "O_o"?
I don't really feel bad running the turret setup. I didn't even realize it was that horribly OP when I first saw the option to deploy equipment and was like "ooooo turrets and drones and yay!"
Edit: The above applies to Caitian officers as well at least in terms of their availablity and pricing on the exchange. Their skillset differs from the Aenar's though. Here's a skill list for each (not including traits because, well, you can find those easily enough in the C-store desc.) Spoilered for length.
Basically. With a full turret team, you'll be killing anything except captain level mobs faster than you can deploy your turrets.
That plus the all around damage increase actually makes it worth having a tac officer set up with defensive powers on your away team. It's also made me prefer drones in the commander slot instead of turret 3, since the drone comes with you. They lost their AOE attack, but they got quick fix and a couple other buffs.
I Quick Fix. It makes my team's volleys of sniper rifle rape even funnier than it already is.
Seeing as how my ground science boff doesn't exactly have a whole lot to do anymore, I may replace him with a tac boff just to see how that goes.
My tactical officer is set up with two ranks of overwatch and two ranks of either FOMM or focus fire, whichever one it is that buffs the team so all their attacks have a chance to expose. THAT would really work well with your sniper rifle team. I've been experimenting with exploit weapons on my whole team, too. With that tac officer, my science officer's tricorder scan, and a CRM-100 on the team, I get a ridiculous ton of exposes going off.
Obviously things change if there is an elite drone or swordmaster as they have lots of hp but the basic principle remains the same.
I'm sorry I should have been clearer. That's what I hooooope is the reward.
Oh, well poop. At least I'll be around for the event either way.
Someone remind me of the best way to grind xp for a fed character. It has been so long since I've done it.
Exploration missions? I seem to do fairly well on the "Explore 3 systems in the unmapped sector" ones. Most of the systems are pretty quick "Scan a few anomalies, blow up the enemy ship" kind of thing that can be done in a few minutes.
I just wish the tokens were more useful. I have a thousand exploration tokens for gear I don't need anymore.
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
Any major changes occur in the Arcadian Defense Fleet?... wait... am I still even in it? Did I get booted?
From the tribble patch notes:
It's not a functional shuttlebay, but it works for the time being.
I've had him bug out on me before too. I have found the safest way to complete the final battle is to run past him, quickly take out his minions as fast as I can without dying, and only then activate the reinforcements.
Yar, it accomplishes the same function without requiring that much extra effort from Cryptic for the time being. In the future, having the base function in game already will make it piss easy to just port that over to a different room (specifically a shiny new dedicated shuttlebay).
It doesn't have a shuttle interior?
No, apparently fighters aren't hooked up to the shuttle cockpit.
With the speed of the new ground combat and some fairly heavy modifications to STFs, the cryptic mission guys now say that all STFs should only take an hour to complete for a team. Each mission is broken into two part, Space and Ground, and each part takes 30 minutes. They also say that it should be possible with practice to get each part down to 15 minutes each and that there may be special rewards for doing so.
In addition to this, equipment drops in the Normal versions of STFs will serve to better equip players to gain "significant" advantages for when they do the Elite version of an STF, and this in turn will equip players to do better on the "Into the Hive" STF when it opens up.
Basically they said that they removed all the boring filler crap and left the fun bits. They will still be fairly difficult, but not nail in dick difficult.
Also the timer for them will not be 22 hours anymore.
I'm totally down for all of this.
Hm... maybe it shows up in fleet groups, too. I'll have to run Doomsday machine and let it kill the Fed ships for a while.
I'm also not sure I'm even on the right track. A few people claim to have seen it, but I not exactly where.
Maybe it's all a hoax, but it is a believable one, since Dstahl mentioned the ship's current working model is on tribble and he's actually used it. If I get it I'll post a snap shot buried under a couple nested spoiler tags.
I guess that's why the Foundry (and every foundry mission on Tribble) got taken back down a few minutes after the patch yesterday.
Edit: I think CaptainLogan has broken his brain and I now worry for the future of ship design in this game. He posted this as a "texture preview" of the Enterprise-F: I don't... I mean... What?
EDIT: dang, beaten while searching for other examples... that I couldn't even find.
iBorg?
Looking for a new collective to join that's easy to use? Head on down to the BorgStore and let the helpful folks at our Assimilate-Bar show you the ropes.
Also, how viable are duos in this game? I remember Champions had that retarded thing where things were only instanced for 1, 3, or 5 people, so if you brought in 2 you'd just get the 3-man version.
wouldn't hurt to sub now, or wait.
July 7th is the date apparently the update will hit.
more people usually = more enemies but it's not very hard so no worries.
Saiph and I resubbed a little over a week ago and it's been good fun so far. We've hit the end of the current non-STF content, but with the ability to replay old missions and user-created stuff it's not hard to find things to do. I expect a lot more people are going to re-sub for the new changes.
Saiph and WolveSight! I remember you guys from Warhammer Online. I liked you guys.
Kafziel, TOG is pretty much on the money. It's not like the stuff you learn is going to be a complete waste of time. If anything, you'll probably get to learn quite a bit with the combat being slower and then be better prepared when everything speeds up with the patch. I think the real question is: do you want to blow up ships and vaporize people now, or in a week?
