Many years ago this was my favorite website and I used to post with a different username. Now I am returning with an epic choose your own adventure -game- in which you will be the deciding force behind your civilization. This is something I have been working on for a while. Please comment and tell me if you find this entertaining or not.
This game is about choosing your own destiny. I will provide you with a storyline and answer any questions I can - I will not suggest any particular course of action or give spoilers. It is up to you to look at the Chance of success of any path you choose and weigh your options. The first *3 of the same* votes decide the choice we make. New people are welcome/encouraged to play.
Introduction
This is a turn-based game. Choose your civilization by agreeing (the first 3 of the same answer) on one of the races and their affinity below. An example would be A1-The Human Science civilization.
View the map and see where the different civilizations are spread out.
When you explore and expand your empire you will increase your area of domination by about 1 inch on the map each turn, in whatever direction. The resources on the map may be far away so you will have to make decisions on whether to hunt, or advance or explore.
When you have access to steady gold, wood, food and population - your technology cap will be lifted and you will have access to the most powerful spells, upgrades and inventions.
Details
The civ special is what makes the races unique and it can only be used once per game. This will be a continuing adventure and new people can just join in as we go along.
The civ affinity gives you a free research point in the corresponding area, with more free points in the future as progress is made.
The way resources work is you have your low-tier research from the initial scavenging phase. But this beginning research is crucial for advancement. (ie. discovering Prospecting through Science could net you a slight flow of gold, without actually controlling a gold mine.)
Your empire will be marked on the map and it's perimeter will represent your army. Try to balance your territory with your population or you won't have enough peeps to work the resources.
Civilization (special can only be used 1 time)
A) Human (special: expand once in all directions)
Dwarf (special: expand to one spot anywhere on the map)
C) Elf (special: gain two levels in Magic or Weaponry)
D) Undead (special: raise the dead to double population)
E) Orc (special: chosen battle is a guaranteed victory)
F) Giant (special: gain two levels in Weaponry or Defense)
G) Fishpeople (special: expand four times in one direction)
H) Gnome (special: gain two levels in Defense or Science)
Civilization affinity
1) Science (helps with weaponry, magic and defense but mainly strengthens economic advancement)
2) Weaponry (create/upgrade all forms of weapons based on resources available)
3) Magic (war magic and spells that might possibly bend the laws of physics)
4) Defense (builds fortifications, raises individual health, and heightens border security)

Overview:
Science: 1
Weaponry: 0
Magic: 0
Defense: 0
Progress: 0
Transport: 1
Resources:
Gold: none
Wood: scavenging
Food: scavenging
Population: very low
Report: You are the Fishpeople, a race of amphibians who draw energy from the ocean and move surprisingly fast even on land. Though they are quick learners, the Fish race tends to lean more toward magic or weaponry. Fishpeople in general are agile and cunning, however they are also an outgoing and benevolent race.
Consider yourselves the Fish Elders. You have the responsibilities to guide your people through many harsh obstacles and political upheaval.
Right now you are nothing more than a raggedy band of slimy fish-warriors, doing primitive tasks and setting up a campground.
All your resources are low and your population not noted at this time, however every life is precious.
Science research is complete, your civilization now has basic tools. With your early research you have taken a quick jump ahead of many other races who will not discover simple tools for some time. Tools will help your workers to be more efficient and at this early stage tools can even be used as weapons.
Your scout swimmers have spotted a river village to the south, it is unknown who may live here.
Options (Chance of success):
A) Expand N, S, E, W
Breed
C) Research Science
D) Research Weaponry
E) Research Magic
F) Research Defense
G) Use special
