I think we should have a chat that tries to explain the Diablo plot. People keep mentioning it but I managed to play the games without ever encountering it.

Also, do I understand correctly that the Democratic party of the US was once called the Republican Party and then changed its name, and then the modern party came into being some time later?

The Democrats were originally the Democrat-Republicans, who stood in opposition first to the Federalists (in the early 19th century) and then to the Whigs (in the 1820s-1850s) and thence the modern Republican party (which really came into its own in 1860) - although there was one more sea change that lasted much of the 20th century as the liberal, urban, Northern Republican party slowly traded places with the right-wing, rural Democratic party.
Also, do I understand correctly that the Democratic party of the US was once called the Republican Party and then changed its name, and then the modern party came into being some time later?

My day was the very opposite of productive. Vendor training was ridiculous.
Which follows yesterday, which was also very not productive. Quickbooks troubleshooting went NOWHERE.

I don't really want my newsreaders to be so attractive that I find myself getting hot and bothered even when the story is about someone getting mangled in a giant shredder.
I got offered a job at http://www.marin.nl/web/show for project engineer. o_O As you might remember I'm a geographer and know fuck all about engineering and hydrodynamics. I'm not quite sure why they even bothered calling me, but the recruiter assured me the company had told her they were open to folks with non-tech education.
I have no idea how to react to this. I'm not very interested in moving away from geography like this, but it's a job... I mean, if I saw their job opening I wouldn't even open it.
For example, Kate Silverton is fine when reading the lighter stories, but I find myself unable to form the appropriate solemn face when listening to her talk about a famine.
oh god, what did they do to her? she's just some text and two circles now
She's hosting on tripod now.
Now Playing:
Celeste [Switch] - She'll be wrestling with inner demons when she comes...
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age [Switch] - Sit down and watch our game play itself
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Beautiful female newsreaders are especially distracting when the male presenter looks like a bloke of distinctly average attractiveness. Which is basically all of them.
It's almost as though there's some sort of double standard. ALMOST.

Sometimes I wonder how heavily my perception of this inequality is skewed by not being into men. Like, walking around you see couples and more often than not I'll register that the guy is batting out of his league and the girl is slumming it (based just on their physical appearances, obviously). No either all the ugly woman - attractive man couples don't go outside, or I just have a harder time telling what women find attractive without careful inspection.
The same could be true of TV presenters. Perhaps David Mitchell is secretly pretty is what I'm saying.
Or we could have government panels of bisexuals to enforce TV personality equality.
