You can get any version of this game on Amazon, today only, for $42.99.
Is this best deal? Have there been better deal? Tipsy and shopping, need facts and motivation. PC/Steam only.
20% off is the best deal so far, but I'd hold out for 50%. It'll probably happen during the Summer Sale.

Thanks, I was able to restrain myself. Hopefully there will be a couple patches out before I purchase...

Beat this today and egads, that was just enjoyable every step of the way.
The game was fairly easy for the most part but that really doesn't matter when the point of the game is to just hangout with everyone on the show and get into really fucked up situations. Probably the only 'hard' part is the Sparrow fight since he can easily sucker punch you but once you're aware of those god damn eye lasers it isn't bad. I do think the fight against Chef was a bit crappy but not in game play terms. It mostly just felt like a big "Fuck you Isaac Hayes" that I thought they had gotten out of their system when they killed the character off in the show. But really, that's the worst thing I have to say about this game. Overall it's really god damned fun from start to finish and doesn't pull any punches whatsoever. It's the second South Park movie we never got and basically anyone who even remotely likes the show should play this, especially since it's a pretty accessible game.

Speaking of which Ubisoft should release that second patch soon. Would hate if this turns into another Alpha Protocol situation.

Ahhhh, I hate modern patch politics.

    On that note

So I just finished this. This game was excellent on so many levels, I was laughing the whole way through.

My two iconic moments (only read if you've completed the game):
Saying 'Nope' when presented with the situation of having to go up Mr Slaves' ass to disarm the Snuke. As the others are doing the whole 'hmmm, who do we know who can turn really small AND perform abortions? Hmmm' routine, I decided to just walk out the door. I then laughed as I was presented with a nuclear explosion and the credits. I laughed pretty hard.

    and
I had to appreciate that, when performing an 'abortion', the player is greeted with 'Christmas Time Comes Once a Year'. Man, I loved that episode

I enjoyed the game quite a but the combat was so easy it does detract from the game, even at max difficulty.

Patch (Steam at least. Consoles have to wait longer) is out

Allows WASD keys to work as arrow keys during the Goth Dance mini-game.
Fixes a potential hang in the counter attack tutorial battle.
Fixed an issue where accessories would not show up on the player if a new game was started while having the Hoff face equipped.
Fixed an issue where the outfit might now show up on the player during the costume changes in the Photo Dojo.
Fixed an issue where using Mr. Slave in the Giggling Donkey could cause issues in the fight.
Fixed an issue where the dire bear quest may not properly advance in Canada.
Fixed an issue where content could be skipped if grounded in the Lost Forest.
Fixed a few typos in messages.
Fixed a potential crash while playing in the Portuguese language.
Adjusted the difficulty of the Alien Probe mini-game.
Adjusted the difficulty of the pooping mini-game.
Adjusted the visuals of the magic tutorials while using PC controls.

Patrick Raines (Background Designer) posted some of the concept art he did for the game on his blog. What made it in at least...

. I created many more areas, but cannot show them here because they didn't make it into the game

Well, the game made it to number three in March's NPDs.

Granted we don't have the actual number, and most of the oxygen in the room was taken up by Titanfall and Infamous. Still, it looks like it did better than I was predicting.

Okay, after killing many brain cells digging through GAF, the word is that South Park sold a little less than 440,000.

So, it wasn't a blockbuster, but that's pretty solid.

Unfortunately for the producers, the price point simply isn't right for most people. $29.99 would have hit my "Immediate buy" range. I really want to buy it but I'm not willing to fork out $59.99. (I missed a $15-off sale because I noticed it on the last day and it was expired by the time I got home from work)

As soon as it gets another decent sale, I'm scooping it up.

Might be dramatically higher. Somebody was claiming that 6% of UK sales were for Windows, and I can't imagine that ~30,000 units sold on Steam would keep it in the #1 Top Seller slot for two weeks.

We don't know for sure. Damn, what I wouldn't give for access to an NPD subscriber.

At any rate, I remember hearing some chatter that PC sales only accounted for eight percent of all Stick of Truth sales, but of course I can't find the source of that at the moment.

Only data close to that I can find is from the MCV UK report on the UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 for the first week following release (6%).

I'm pretty sure the clothes in the game could already easily be worn by a girl.

South Park isn't afraid to cross lines, but they won't do it if it isn't funny.
The whole abortion arc just wouldn't have been as funny with a girl.

More seriously, having the main character be a girl would make the whole "proving yourself to the girl council" odd.

    Well, odder.

This could have been adressed in the original design. In retrospect A LOT of the game was seemingly cut, both under THQ and Ubisoft.

It's a weird thing, because I do believe their reasoning that the story makes more thematic sense with a boy (the group has never been that accepting of girls, the whole "recruit the girls" sidequest, ect.). And yet the way the game is presented, it honestly wouldn't have made a damn difference if you were a girl.

Aaaaand Obsidian was cut out off the sequel.

I wonder if MCA leaving was because he was finally fed up with AAA business. Would fit his tweet shortly before (though that was obviously because of a different project)

I'm not holding out hope for New Vegas 2.

I'm none too worried about the lack of Obsidian. They're only really good at writing and they didn't write the South Park game, so whatevs.

I like Obsidian a lot for what they bring to the table, but I feel it's addition by subtraction now that they're off the project.
