I read that Ed Norton not being in The Avengers wasn't a matter of money, but of Marvel not wanting to give Norton the level of creative control over the film that he required.

Yeah they gave that poster to everyone who worked on the film, I believe. The entire cast and crew. Pretty neat.

Terrence Howard was paid more than Downey in the first film and Marvel understandably didn't want that happening again.

But yeah Marvel has been really thrifty when it comes to paying talent

But it isn't like Favereau has washed his hands of Marvel and hates them now

he is still an Executive producer on Avengers and was on set at least once.

I know he wasn't super happy over Iron Man 2 but I don't think Marvel really screwed him over or anything.

Same with Howard and Norton. Howard shouldn't have been getting a bigger paycheck than Downey any way you cut it and the stories I read said he was asking for more than he made the first movie, and Marvel kept Norton out of the Avengers because he is a bad team player and the film would have enough troubles getting made as is without having someone mess up the ensemble. Which makes even more sense now that it seems like the Avengers cast gets along great.

I think the fact that Favereau got that directing job with Disney and still gets an EP credit for the Avengers shows that whatever happened behind closed doors everybody did pretty well in the negotiations.

Nobody got screwed.

It is disgusting. The writer who he insults, Mark Waid, is considered one of the best and nicest guys in the business. He has called him "everything wrong with comics" which is why I used that sentence.

Waid has said he does not like Johnston nor Bleeding Cool before and left Boom editorial last year.

Yeah, Lying in the Gutters. It was a feature on...CBR? I think CBR. He shut it down to start a site where he got all of the ad revenue and other profits for doing the same thing except with more rumors.

I guess. To me, she's attractiveness with no life. Just good and fortunate genetics. With the Pepper Potts character, it's much easier to point out what specific things are attractive about her. Might all be up to the differences in their acting, but I just find Johansson kind of a boring beauty.

Oh yeah, for sure. That's part of the reason her whole fad is puzzling to me. With lots of actresses, a really good role will do a lot to make people find them attractive. Directors and makeup artists will know how to bring out all the attractive parts, and if the actress is any good, she'll be able to breath life into a character, which can of course be quite attractive by itself depending on the character.

Johansonn hasn't had any roles like that. (at least, in fairness, that I've seen) So it's just the internet has latched onto to her for being pretty. Not even particularly more pretty than other actress. (a wholly subjective opinion of course) It's not a big deal or anything, and people certainly aren't wrong for thinking so. Just kind of a thing I can't really relate to and am curious to explore why.

She still had a character to play. She is completely unbelievable as a spy. She spits out the lines full of jargon without conviction or emphasis. Honestly her reading reminds me of kids reading Shakespeare in an English class.

She got a ton of critical buzz for Lost in Translation and Girl With A Pearl Earring, then starred in two pretty well received Woody Allen films. She has avoided stupid romcoms and such for the most part. Because of that she has a reputation as being more intelligent than your average starlet. If there's anything nerds like more than a pretty girl, it's a pretty girl that they think is smart.

It isn't because some people like it

some people have different taste, that doesn't mean they are terrible or should be thought less of.

It is that all these journalists and creators that make fun of Marvel and DC for selling out or making financially motivated decisions are just telling Haley CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GIG MAN and he literally said "he doesn't care where the money comes from."

It would be totally fine if he didn't run a webcomic/was a recurring guest on ComicsAlliance that mocks Marvel and DC for similar decisions, but he does which makes him a big ole hypocrite.
