I second that. I owned two PSPs and played a lot of games on it, but the way this sytem looks, plays, and feels makes even games I've played before feel new and exciting again. I can hardly wait for them to add in the PSOne game support and the actual Vita games that are on our way this year. Really glad I decided to pick this up. Playing Power Stone right now and it really feels like when I played it on my Dreamcast. I didnt think it would look that good for the PSP.

Edit: Well, the first Power Stone looks great... the second not so much. Still, pretty fun for $10.

I think it was someone in the last thread that recommended Corpse Party. Anyway, I bought it and I really hated it. There were some cool moments but the bit of gameplay it had was such a lame excuse for a game and I feel the graphical limitations never really allowed for the game to be that scary.

I couldn't even finish. I was about to restart chapter 5 for like the 3rd time when I just had enough and deleted it. I just... I'm so disappointed. I think I'm angrier at myself I invested so much time in the past week and I gave up right at the end. That game broke me. I will never forgive it.

I want to kick the King of all Cosmos in the dick. I not only beat a friend challenge, but I also made the biggest Katmarai I'd ever made on a level that I'd already got 100% on. Then the game clearly bugged, because for some reason the King then preceeded to chastize me for making a pathetically small Katamari, and I got no points, no candies, and NO CREDIT FOR BEATING THE NEAR CHALLENGE!

Edit: Also the emotes are broken here, I clicked on the angry face and got a row of love faces... =P

Edit 2: About Wipeout, how do I do the AR stuff to look at my ship in meat space that I've seen previewed in the months leading up to the release of the Vita?

    That sucks.

Also I wouldn't kick him in the nuts. You might break your foot.

But your bug notwithstanding, isn't Touch My Katamari SO GOOD? I fucking love it.
Sooo good, and the Near challenges are a great addictive addition.

I'm sorry you didn't care for it. I'm loving it, but I could see how the retro trappings could grate on some people. Personally, I enjoyed the juxtaposition of old school 16-bit graphics with fantastic sound design that puts most modern games to shame.

That, and you really have to be okay with the visual novel thing. It may look a lot like a SNES RPG, but it's way more Phoenix Wright/Hotel Dusk as far as gameplay goes. That could definitely turn some people off, too.

They are going to have to make something really amazing for me to go for a Vita. Heck, I have not made it through allot of my PSP games.

Really, I think the 3D aspect of the 3DS is going to trump this.

Well, the game is really more visual novel than it is adventure. I think it may be more a matter of you expecting the game to be something that's in a completely different direction than it is.

"Graphical limitations" do not necessarily mean a game can't be scary if done properly, either(Clock Tower - SNES). Particularly if you set yourself up in the right ambiance while playing.

Yes, a dark room and headphones are essentially a requirement for Corpse Party. Seriously, without headphones at the very least, the effect is totally gone.

But see I love games like Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk and I knew going into it very well that it was going to be a visual novel but it just did not find it to be captivating in any way. I felt a huge distance between myself and immersion in the game just because everything about was so stale. In Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk the gameplay is so involving because you actually have to piece things together while Corpse Party is really like one big fetch-quest/trigger event. I didn't care about any of the characters and I know it was part of the game mechanic but the fact the game could go on for a good while before you realized you made an irreparable mistake is really frustrating.

The main problem with the 3D on the 3DS is that even small movements of my hands breaks the effect. It takes me a second to readjust. Thus, I have to remain completely still at the perfect angle, or turn off the effect. And I usually choose the latter.

Only on a few games will I actually fight through to keep the effect on, like Starfox.

This is exactly why I always turn the 3D off, too. It's just headache inducing when it goes in and out with every tiny movement.

I wish Ys Chronicles worked with the Vita. I'd imagine that game would look incredible with the Vita's OLED screen.

I can't think of a single system that had a good new RPG at launch. Okay, the SNES got Final Fantasy 4 soon after launch but that's because there was such a huge gap between the Japanese & US release of the system.

What RPGs are in Japan? Anything I should care about as an eventual US release?

Tales of Innocence R, Ragnarok Odyssey and Lord of Apocalypse. With Namco actually localising Tales games now, Tales might have a decent chance of getting localised. The other two though, who knows. Ragnarok Odyssey is a Monster Hunter clone spinoff of Ragnarok Online, while Lord of Apocalypse is a sequel to Lord of Arcana (which itself was Square Enix's Monster Hunter clone).

Before any of you buy ZHP off the PSN, here's a little reminder. The download code for it is only 20 on Gamestop's site, and you apparently get the code automatically after purchase. Again, its not every game, but always check Gamestop's site first because a lot of those codes are discounted in comparison to PSN.

Picked up the Vita today. I'm floored by Uncharted's graphics on this machine. The aiming sucks though. It's so disorienting since I have pretty good aim in Uncharted 3. I feel like the reticule wobbles way too much even with the sensitivity down.

Can you add me to the PSN Friends List Unco-ordinated?

Any reason you think so? The original pc game had a pretty big following outside of Japan, various handheld versions have made it out, in addition to manga and tv series also being localized. It's not a sure thing of course, but it's a series that is well known in other regions, and a genre the Vita could use some help with outside of Japan.

Some titles are cheaper(Disgaea, Disgaea 2, Phantom Brave) if you buy them from Gamestop as PSN codes compared to PSN, some are unchanged(Persona), and some are more expensive(Ys, Ys seven). So you might want to be careful in some cases.

However, it warrants checking every time just to make sure you can't get it cheaper.

It didn't come to mind that Gamestop sold PSN codes(who'd immediately think something like that normally?), so that was something I didn't find out until after I spent the extra $10 on phantom brave directly off of the PSN a while back. But fortunately since that money largely goes to NIS compared to some other company, I'm not too upset.

Is there any way for the system to automatically connect to wifi connections it's already been connected to? I'm finding it really annoying that every time I fire it up I have to go through a ton of menus in order to connect to a wifi connection.

I have not had any real problems with the 3D, but, yes, you have to hold it steady. I could see how that and some people's eye problems could effect it's mass appeal. I really enjoyed how the Mario Land 3D played off the effect though. I felt that extra layer of depth made the game more immersive.

Holy crap. Just played Wip3out (are we still spelling it with a three?) and it's freaking awesome. I love the new, low-tech, almost pod-racery sound the ships make at the beginning.

I also love love love the tight integration across the whole system with friends. I was both stressed and envigorated by seeing all your best times before each race. Totally sweet.

So I've been playing uncharted and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on and off all day, and I decided that, since I'm giving my Vita so much love lately, I should hop on my 3DS and give it some time as well. I see that there is a Metal Gear Solid 3D demo out, and I decide to download it.

It's been a good 10 minutes now and the download still hasn't finished. While I'm downloading, I can't do anything else with my 3DS, not even queue up additional downloads.

That's one area the Vita got right. I like how seemless and unified the entire OS feels.

I find it easier to list what the vita does wrong, as I am very happy with the hardware as a whole.

Things I do not like include being unable to delete certain apps, the kind of odd choice of covers for the card slots and the biggest thing: gods damn you Sony, why a glossy finish? A matte black would have been perfect. Better grip and the surface of the vita wouldn't look do damn scummy after a bit of use.

No way, I love that glass-like finish. I like that about my tablet and phone too. I can clean smudges, and to me, it feels better than a matte surface. So silky smooth.
