I never cared to go downtown and join the crowds for new years parties, bleh. But also couldn't care less about all the shows they had on TV. Woo someone's playing crappy music in new york.
New years was usually a time of sipping some fine champaign, and being either online, or (presently) with my wife. Possibly with a top hat and monocle.
That said, RIP Dick Clark, you were a well known liked dude.
oh boo hoo someone made a thing about this thing I love and that's somehow tainted the thing I love and I can never enjoy it again where's my diaper and blanky

also if they remake a thing and you don't want to watch it
don't?
it's not like the original ceases to exist
This is pretty much my feelings on remakes
That said, there have been a few movies where the remake has actually been better than the original (John Carpenter's "The Thing", Brian De Palma's "Scarface") that have proven the whole "all remakes suck and are inferior" mentality very wrong, as those are still two of my favorite films
hey guys all franchise reboots are worthwhile and your adoration for older movies is a product of your misled childhood brain, i'm so edgy and thought provoking

The Thing was a remake where I took the aforementioned advice and ignored its existence.

Personally, I have no interest in having to ever hold a conversation with someone who has watched a Blade Runner remake buuuuuuuut nobody posted anything close to this.

Was it actually good?
The Carpenter version is pretty much the go-to version.

It depends
There was the original (The Thing From Another World), which was good
The remake (John Carpenter's The Thing), which was fantastic, and remains one of my favorite films
And the remake/prequel of the remake (the Thing [2011]), which was a mess with a few redeeming qualities, but not enough to justify $20 spent on a movie ticket or DVD

the new one is more prequel than remake i guess
the 80s one is utterly fantastic
The Carpenter version is pretty much the go-to version.
If this was directed at me, I mean the new one, yeah.

Sounds like I should at least see the 2011 version once, though.
If you're going to, either get on Comcast on Demand or rent it
It is not worth $20
It's seriously a mess, they thought they could do as good as Carpenter's version by filling it up with CGI, and it just wound up being silly
It has a few good scenes though, and the actors tried the hardest with what they had, which I admired
Steam
There was a movie with the same title based on the same book in 1931 I believe.
Yeah
It's based off the 1930 book and a remake of the 1931 film based off the book

Now THIS is pod-racing in the rain!!!
There's some hidden potential for awesome going on here.
It is exactly what it should be given who directed it and who starred in it.
