[Job Thread] Help me hate/love my job by telling me how awesome/terrible yours is
I don't know what to expect this week, or the next couple of weeks really
The contract I was working on officially ended yesterday, though we may spend a few more days on it under another contract
Past that though, either I'm going to be mostly drifting til a new similar job comes in, or I'm gonna be stuck on someone else's completely different project, and none of them really look as fun

I am leaving my job in 6 weeks.
My replacement starts full time in 4 weeks, but started today to help out a little part time
And my boss just told us this morning that they're also hiring another full time person before I leave
But this weekend I worked with a consultant to fix a thing in our accounting system so it actually works better than it did before.
And last week I discovered a massively efficient way to update customer special pricing in our accounting system that used to take someone upwards of two weeks of solid work to update when we had price increases. Now all they have to do is give me a spreadsheet with the customer and the new price and I can have it all updated within a couple minutes.
I've also got a handful of new tools to play with for making our live accounting system faster and more responsive by moving all of our historical (everything over ~4 years old) to an archive database.
And eventually, if my boss does take the Operations Head position I can start working on getting rid of the inefficiencies in our warehousing and shipping operations.
just the idea of an internship fills me with fear and anxiety. how long do you have to work before you earn the right to be paid?
Any decent internship will pay you immediately. Unpaid internships are pretty much a scam. I don't care if there's some industries where that's expected, it's still a scam. We've got two programmer interns who are both paid.
Work has done their damndest to make sure my last two weeks.
Are a massive steaming pile of shit. First, they know that my new job at the transfer is Sunday. Hey, let's work Mets on Saturday. Because why the fuck not? Also, you're covering two shifts every one of your shifts. Also also, we're going to give you shit for showing up in a t-shirt. Even a company one. Well you're on the floor, it should be collared shirt and vest! What do you mean, 'scheduled you for nursery every other day this week, where a t-shirt is acceptable'. That's irrelevant. Also, enjoy this lovely parting gift of every frumpy senior citizen we could find in this town, beating just up to unconsciousness and brainwashed with ridiculous customer service demands. It's the only thing we could think to get you.
Congrats. Also, everyone has been ordered to bitch about you leaving.
Sincerely, the management.

Think of it this way Jordan.
If you weren't competent they wouldn't complain about you leaving.
I didn't get the job, which is the job I currently have on a fixed-term contract
someone with 5 more years' experience is being offered the job
I'll only get the job if he turns it down, and I'm not counting on that
guys, this job had been perfect for me, and I lost it because I have no experience with interviews of this type (with a panel and pre-prepared questions)
I start full-time at my night job on the 24th. My last day at my day job is the 20th. I would have taken more time off, but I don't want to lose the money.

Well, might as well post now that I've been employed a nearing six months.
I have a job!
Admittedly, it's half time. But it's got good vision, medical and dental. Good job security. And I can call myself a scientist, which sounds good at parties.
And it was totally okay because you didn't meet them in person! Phone interviews are the best. Also, you don't waste any gas or time travelling to see these people if you don't get the job.

Of course I knew all of the people on the panel so it wasn't too bad
Still way more difficult than one on one
Heh I knew all the people on the panel, too. I just botched up one of the more important questions because I hadn't had experience answering anything like it before.
Some asshole managed to jam the drain plug in the dishwasher far enough in that nobody can pry/pull the thing out, which means that all the water (about 150 degrees, can't forget that part) has to be scooped out by hand. Wrestled with that damn thing for the better part of an hour. On the plus side I don't close this week or next week.
Next time you should dump some ice in the water (I'm guessing based on context clues that you work in a restaurant) and then it'll be easier to get in there and splash around.
Would someone here have the time to look over my resume, trying to make a general resume really and since its my first time wiring one so I would appreciate some feed back on it and tips!

it's been nice having a weekend again though
and in five days, I get another weekend!

that's right, ladies
I'm worth two regular employees
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
And one of the other interviews has requested the same day.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Until this past month I haven't interviewed for anything for two years.
I still feel like it's obvious that I'm very green when it comes to having an "adult" job and that everyone can tell as soon as they shake my hand.
I also wish the sales reps would get more jobs for me to pick up and deliver because I really dont want my job to start looking redundant
But you'll find something awesome, because you're awesome!
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
I am like, 99% certain of it
fuckin' interviews
thanks
I intend to talk to my boss later this week to see what else there is, cuz fuck leaving mental health to find something else, man
fuck it, this is my goddamn bread and butter

So...Yeah. Excited about that.
use your training in mental health for evil and trick him into giving you the job
Make him think he has a serious mental health issue and then take his job

Why I fear the ocean.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
I love phone interviews! I was walking around my apartment in gym shorts and a t-shirt drinking beer during the one I had for my current job*
*Not recommended
I accidentally took a bong rip this morning before mine (didn't know it was happening)

Also if you have gas it's not embarrassing
Unless you fart loud enough for them to hear it
